What should I index?

At that moment, the only area that is indexed is Microsoft Outlook. I have the ability to index the entire system or my drive (C :). I want to know what I should index. From what I've read so far, it is not a good idea to index everything because it might slow down your system while trying to search everything you could look for. I also think that simply have the Microsoft Outlook indexed and nothing else is not correct. So what should be indexed? I am using Windows XP Pro. Try to simplify the answer, not a GURU, but I don't know enough to understand that with only 1500 files, folders, and all that is indexed in Outlook is probably making it difficult on myself than it should be.

Original title: indexing system

Hi John,.

Windows uses the index to perform very fast searches of the most common files on your computer. Instead of looking through your entire hard drive for a property or a file name, Windows analyzes the index. If you are searching in locations that are not indexed, the search can be slow because Windows must inspect each file in those locations during the search. If you want to find something that sits on the location of the computer, I suggest to add this particular location of indexing for a simple index and smooth. By adding more location for indexing your computer will not hook or performance will not slow down.

I lost the Windows Professional disc that came with the computer. I get a pop up requires me to insert the disc 3 of which I don't have the installation disc. Even if I try to do a system restore I need the disk. I can't lose information that is on the computer and do not have an external drive. What should I do?

There is no disc 3 of Windows XP Professional.  Windows XP (other Media Center if I remember well) was a CD.

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
    2. click on the System Restore tab.
    3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
    5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.

IMO, if you have Windows XP or a newer version of Windows, not worth obsessed during defragmentation.

That said, I offer the following comments:

    • Files that start \System Volume Information\_restore {... are your system restore points.  If things are running OK and you do not anticipate the need to restore to an earlier time, disable System Restore (which will delete all system restore points) and then turn it back on again.  Or just run Disk Cleanup and use remove all but the last restore point.
    • The \WINDOWS\Temp\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\G7HWHKBP\iTunes[1].msi file looks like a file cache of remains of Internet Explorer 5.  In any case, it is a setup of iTunes and you can safely remove.  In general, you can safely remove all in C:\Windows\Temp
    • I guess you kept all of these files in e-mail Netscape 7 for some reason, but if they had just neglected when you moved from Netscape 7 for any email application you use today, you can remove these establishments.
    • The normal Windows Defragmenter cannot defragment various system files, including the page file and the MFT, which are quite highly fragmented in your system.  I think that for this reason there is not enough contiguous space on your hard disk to defragment most of the other files in the list even if you have more than 9 GB of free space.

To defragment the paging file, you can disable (or very small), restart and then set it to "system managed size".  To do this

    • Make a right click my computer and select Properties
    • Click on the "Settings" button in the box 'Performance '.
    • Click on the "Advanced" tab and the button 'Edit' under 'virtual memory '.
    • Click on "No paging file" and the "Set" key
    • OK your way out and restart
    • Defragmentation and then go back and put the pagefile "system managed size".

A better approach, however, would be to use (free) PageDefrag, which defragments non only the pagefile, but both the Windows registry files.

Microsoft has apparently made a utility that will defragment the MFT (on the restart), but you must call customer service to get it: http://support.microsoft.com/default.Aspx?scid=kb;en-us;320397 I used not this utility and cannot give you any information about it beyond what is in the Article.

Some commercial defragmenters defragment the MFT (on the restart).  If they have trial versions, trial versions may include this feature, but I don't know.

  • What should I include in a zip file?

I had some success where I zip my entire repertoire phonegap after I've built for Android and iOS, but now my zippers are too big to download. I really need to include all my plugins and build artifacts? If I do just the www directory, applications do not work. Exactly what should be included in the zip?

You never shouldn't be including your build artifacts when downloading to PhoneGap Build. However, you should also be aware that PhoneGap Build and the CLI local produce currently projects perfectly compatible, reason why you are having problems downloading whole folder "www." IIRC, this is under development, but that does not help you now.

Send your PG build must understand the content of your "www" project directory and "config.xml" file in the same directory of your project. In other words, the CLI will put "config.xml" outside of the "www" folder, then PG, build expects the "config.xml" file to the root as well as the rest of your web assets. For example:

    • CLI-project-root /.

      • config. XML
      • www /.

Of course, if you have paths in your "config.xml" file (for example, regarding the icons and splash), they are able to break down on PhoneGap build as well, since the paths are relative instead of the "config.xml".

Also be sure to '-save ' your plugins to "config.xml" when you add it to the CLI so that PhoneGap Build knows to include when you submit your file "config.xml". If you don't do this, you will have to edit 'config.xml' to list the plugins you are using.

Finally, see the documentation for PhoneGap Build:

    Hope that helps!

  • Sierra of downloaded OS but have not installed. What should I do now?

I downloaded macOS Sierra, but it has not installed. I rebooted the MacBook Air without success. What should I do now to get installed it.

Download and installation are separate steps. You should be able to find 'Install macOS Sierra' in your Applications folder. Double-click it to start the installation. It would really be a good idea to first make a backup complete and bootable.

  • my battery drains very quickly even when not in service, what should I do to fix that?

my battery drains very quickly even when not in service, what should I do to fix that?

    Hello rabeeha hafeez robi.

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support. It is my understanding that your iPhone battery has been draining more than expected. I use my iPhone all day, so I know how important the battery life can be. Surely, I understand your concern, as much as it seems as if the phone is not in use.

First, I recommend that you check your settings to see what is using your battery life. You can do this by going to settings > battery. In some cases substantive activity of the app may affect the battery life. This means that the battery is used by an application while it is in the background. The link below provides additional information and advice to help maximise your battery performance.

    See you soon.

Try leaving it plugged in the power of the day after. The servers are probably very overloaded. I have not being updated myself but will be soon.
