  I have a question to choose the good ssd for my imac 7y/o (9.1) since early 2009.

  I found a few good SSD as the samsung 840 BX100 or critical, but I've also read several times that a ssd sata3 will use sata1 when installed on a sata2.

  And that is why it is better to install a sata2 ssd.

  IS that still the case today? Given that these messages are coming from 2013.

  Or is that I can put in an ssd sata3 and it will run on sata2?

  SATA III drives that use the Sandforce controller will come back to SATA I speed if installed on a computer that uses the Nvidia MCP79 SATA controller. Samsung does not Sandforce. My Macbook in early 2009 with a Samsung 840 (pre Evo, not Pro) negotiates the SSD SATA II speed, connected to the MCP79.  OWC also still sells SATA II disks, I have one in my late 2009 iMac. I chose this drive, even if it was more expensive because OWC insisted that my model should have the Nvidia controller but in reality it has controller Intel 5 series. I didn't take my iMac except more than once.

  Hi, I want to install a PCIe USB 3.0 card.  What version of PCIe are PCIe slots?  They are PCIe 1.0 or 2.0?    (I have a card 1-way USB 3.0 and I'm trying to manage my expectations for performance.)

  I see nothing in the literature of Dell that specifies the PCIe version.  However, this machine uses the X 58 chipset, and Intel said this chipset supports PCIe version 2.0.

  Once you have downloaded the file, you must extract the raw files for use during the installation of the OS.

  The basic files you need are in these places:

  I extracted mine in a random folder on my desktop.

  It's going to be one of these. Don't know exactly that one.

  I guess that the SSD upgrade is the same as the upgrade of the HARD drive.
  The laptop support SATA controller, you will need a SATA SSD.
  The old drive SSD is 9.5 mm in height the new SSD drive should support the same height.

  Given that the SATA controller is not limited to any size, it should be possible to use the SSD drives more of 128 GB but there is still a matter of BIOS support.

  Unfortunately, it s unclear to me if the BIOS would support more large SSD drives, but generally this should be supported.

  If the Dell backup and restore media recovery is used it will be identical to the factory with all the drivers preinstalled system installation.

  There may be updates to the driver, but everything should work on the box.

  These are all numbers of Dell and descriptions.

  The system uses a PCIe (or is if you want a faster player), 2280 m2 or small size.  UNLESS you buy directly from Dell, it is best NOT to buy versions OEM of SSD (Samsung end pieces in a '1' vs '0' for details).

  OEM spare parts are usually not compatible to end-users by the manufacturer.

  Because you will probably install the operating system for the new SSD, don't forget to make a recovery media set, you need to load the operating system on the larger capacity disk - what you have now is just a cache for the main hard drive.

  There is a support and a set of rubber bumper needed to connect a disk 2.5 "hard.  In general, these are not delivered with the system unless it is controlled with a hard drive - you must remove the base of the cover to check if - some reports are that some versions can be delivered with the necessary equipment.  If not, they are likely available from spare parts from Dell and from other sources such as EBay and third Dell parts suppliers such as share - People.com.

  'External' and 'SSD' could be a problem.  SSDS are different animals of disks spinny.  Some will say that you need not trim on SSD (TRIM is a management tool to move only the ' opportunity' bytes in a block when the block of data is moved), but definitely TRIM does not work on USB or Firewire.  Not sure if the TRIM works on Thunderbolt connected readers as it does on disks SATA-path, however.

  Speed included between slower and faster, however: USB 2.0, Firewire 400, Firewire 800, USB 3.0, love at first sight.

  Unfortunately C4D Lite does not come with CS6. CS6 options include Boris FX, Zaxworks 3D element and a few others. If you make a life with AE then one of these plugins will allow you to save more than their cost in a few projects. I would like to try the demo versions to see which suits you best and who do the job with the least amount of fussing around.

I noticed that the power light is flickering/flashing fast and the yellow led on the motherboard was also blinking. No light was present at all the power button. After that leave it plugged in for a while, I pressed the power button and it started. I also noticed that the color of the green power light and motherboard light now have a solid color and DO NOT flicker. What does this situation? A new battery is required for the motherboard?   More like a power supply failure.

  But the battery is not expensive (~ $2) so you could replace it, just to rule out it as the origin of the problem. It is a CR2032 3 volt lithium ion battery.
