What UPS for Alienware Aurora R4?

Anyone has any ideas on what would be the right kind of UPS for an Alienware Aurora R4? My understanding is that, to calculate the (approx.) VA required, you multiply the AMPS of POWER. The label on the back of the R4 says 7.9 amps, and voltage is 230. Allowing also to 24 "display (1.5 a) = 9,4 x 230 = 2162 going

Spec as follows: Core i7 3930 k at 3.9 GHz, 16 GB Ram, 1 x 660 GTX (1.5 GB), sound card Creative, Win7 64 bit, 24 '' Dell screen.

The PC only will be not clocked at full load probably almost all the time (did ever?), so I was watching an of these: http://www.criticalpowersupplies.co.uk/idialog-ups-1600va-idg-1600

When UPS cuts inside is not necessary to maintain the PC while 5 minutes long, would probably be plenty. Long enough to turn electricity back and resume normal operations or if the electricity is back, no time to turn off the PC.

Is this any way to measure the amount of energy of the PC is usually to help. I don't know what the R4 feeding efficiency index, but it is 875 watts.

Someone else with a R4 has experience of this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Sphinxy,

Alienware Aurora R4 system are delivered with 875 Watt Multi-GPU approved Power Supply. Therefore, you can use any UPS between 1200VA to 2000VA depending on usage. The UPS you provide can be used.

There is no way to measure the power of the computer as sent with this computer power is at maximum power.

  • Small RAM upgrade question for Alienware Aurora R5

Hello! Currently, I have an Alienware Aurora R5 with 2 x 4GB 2133 MHz RAM sticks and am really happy with it so far!

But I would add another stick of 8GB 2133 MHz to bring it up to 16 GB, thing is, I'm not quite sure if I can simply another 8 GB stick fit into the slot XMM3 and make it work.

partly because I couldn't find any documentation on what the latency of tensions/schedules/AR are on the 2 RAM sticks of 4 GB in the pc are currently, and I think as those that are important for the upgrade of ram,

And because of this thing I found in the online manual for the R5

Seems to say that there are only 5 configuration, I can have this set in stone or is it just that they tested?

    Thanks, Saucybagel

P.S. I moved here instead of "office computer Forums (Audio, General Hardware, video) ' as advised.

P.P.S. well, positions of copied it exceeds in any case, I don't know if I can move, heh

    Hello

Yes, the 8 GB will work on the slot XMM3.

  • Council MIO for Alienware Aurora R4

I have an Alienware Aurora R4 with a case ALX end of 2011 that I need to replace the motherboard.

Will be the motherboard MSI Micro-ATX with a work of processor I7 - 4790K to replace a motherboard case Alienware aurora ALX and maintain my light and fans

Dale Hey, I'm on a lunch break, only have a minute. Some CmndCntr old versions can go on a non-Aurora mthrbrd, other more recent versions cannot. Not easy though.

There are two options because your old mthrbrd cannot be used:

    • Just start in the new mthrbrd with the hard drive, you now who has CmndCntr on this
    • then, uninstall the old software/drivers & install new drivers Z97 etc.
    • That's what we know that re-use of your hard drive / windows install in order to keep CC

Another option: install an older version of CmndCntr as 2.08.09 that installs on any mthrbrd, but could get glitch with W8 and W10. Ok?

If your Aurora mthrbrd have always worked? you wanted to give your new mthrbrd a clean installation of Windows & a newer version of CmndCntr? Well, you install a new mthrbrd, pure install windows etc, then a 3rd option, a last resort is then reinstall your old mthrbrd (work) in your case just long enough to install CmndCntr, take that back, install new MB again and that passing your new MB has a newer version of CC on the hard drive, it could then use :

    • old MB is used to pass the software block that prevents installation on a non-Aurora

All old versions of CmndCntr without a stop block to the 2.08.09 version

    All newer versions which have a block: 2.08.11 / 3.5.x / 3.6.x

If you now 2.08.11 or 3.5 or 3.6 installed hard disk, I guess a last way to keep this most recent version of the CC on your hard drive - still make a clean windows install for your new mthrbrd - is to do the type of installation where windows keeps your latest files and folders and programs etc., this way CC can remain on the disk. I only did this, but it might work.

For someone who had a mthrbrd of work, while he was still in the case, they could install the latest / last / latest versions 1, then remove what he & mthrbrd new install, do the overlay install 7/8, CC to keep the disk hard drive etc... all this makes sense? I'm in a bit of a rush here...

  • (Redirected) Is it bad start for Alienware Aurora R4 (UEFI, legacy) mode?

Recently, I made the stupid mistake of updating my bios as bios 5 to 12 because I get a new graphics card soon and heard that you must update the bios first. As planned, it was wrong and it crashed when rebooting and all-day was stuck at a black screen when starting my PC saying to choose the priority of seed or something.

Finally, I tried everything to do in F12 menu, I decided to spend the boot mode in the UEFI to legacy. He actually began after doing this and luckily my hard drive is intact, but he had some interesting things that I noticed. First of all, my HARD disk space seems to decrease slightly as I realized to my PC. Second, there was weird stuff with Alien Autopsy (not really, but it has an error message). Also it could run a little bit slower. Hard to say. It starts more slowly as well. Then, change the dangerous startup parameters, or I made the right choice? Or I just ruin my PC today?

I have an Alienware Aurora R4 running any Windows 7.

  • Rams of upgrade issues for Alienware Aurora R3

I have an Alienware R3 with 8 GB of ram 1333 MHz! I can it switch to 16 GB of ram 1600 MHz? If Yes, then which is the good rams for this situation?

The Aurora R3 system uses 1333 MHz, 1600 MHz XMP and 1866 MHz DDR3 XMP of unbuffered SDRAM.
And the CAP for the RAM is indeed 16 GB.
    Personally, I recommend this one.

Well assuming that your diet is 875Watts and your current GPU GTX 560 ti is using power connectors 2 x 6 pin. The 690 GTX requires however power connectors 2 x 8 pin.

All you have to do is to give the GTX 690 the right amount of power giving him connectors 2 x 8 pin.

Just make sure that you remove your current video adapter and install the GTX 690 in the same dwelling.

    GTX 690

    GTX 560 TI

    Food-

the image above shows the power supply, (hidden by a side cover) all the extra cables are hidden there and should be easily accessible.

The image above shows a 2 connector pins for power in the green zone. When you take out GTX 560 Ti power connectors and place inside 690 GTX you need to add additional power connectors 2-pin.

PS, you might be able to find 8 connectors there though.

    Good luck

  • Alienware Aurora R4 Ram upgrade

    Hello

I have a model of 2012 alienware aurora r4 I think and I'm looking to move to 16 GB of ram.

IV is the ram I want but im not 100% sure if it works in my pc.

Apparently, my motherboard is a 07jnh0 of alienware according to pcwizard and from what I see it supports 1333, 1600 and 1866 mhz ram but sought iv Aries is 2400 mhz.

No there is no way that it will work or it would be ok? the version of 1866 of the ram is much more expensive for some strange reason

This is a link to the ram I am looking at.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

The Alienware Aurora R4 supports Quad Channel DDR3 1600 MHz and Quad Channel DDR3 2133 MHz XMP. Unfortunately, it does not support the 2400 MHz ram.

  • Alienware Aurora R4. The system fan problems

    Hi, here is my story/problem...
My computer is a desktop, Alienware Aurora R4. It is less then a year old. This problem started about 5 days ago now. I called the support technique dell twice. and they don't seem to help, I got frustrated with the phone so im hoping it will work...

So here's the question: my system fan continues to operate at 4150-5000 rpm and only goes to about 1400-2200 rpm at idle. Today, it has begun to stop randomly. I watched 3 ambient temporary sensors all remaining 24-26 degrees Celsius. The PPI and the fans of hard drive are good at all about 1456 and 1089 RPM.

Initially the RPM increased while I was gaming. but it did not take long and now whenever I try to do anything he will get very hard and RPM goes crazy. Originality, my PC would be slowed to about 1200-1400 rpm and only go up to 2200-2400 RPM, where the game. its almost as if it was under high load when it is not. and its cool so I'm sure that's not over heating.

I disassembled the pc and cleaned all the fans and dust with the correct air boards. I have confirmed that everything is properly connected. When that didn't help, I found BIOS version A05 then I updated to the A07.  I ran the Dell PC Diag and it passed, the autopsy of alienware last, Ive ran several analyses of McAfee antivirus, reinstalled the Alienware command center and down the stock of dell pc - which posed problems. I paid and installed the mechanic system and fixed these issues.

The first time I called Dell tech support guy was very friendly and I have not heard his name. He did lose his time with my settings of video card (not sure why as its only the system fan connected to the wheel and the pump, that is the question) he said that he had to be updated so it updated my video card, and that's all. told me he would send me the next day to check if it worked or not. There has never been back in contact with me, and I have no e-mail address. But all that adds to the question... because since he did this update my gaming experience is terrible. I only play World of Warcraft currently. Normally, my FPS are 75 to 100 FPS and now they jump around a bit, but mostly to sit at 2-17 FPS and sometimes go to 50 FPS, if I'm not moving. So im guessing the settings it's fair question... my card is a 2 GB AMD Radeon 7870

Then, I recalled once again a day later. and the next guy was not as friendly. don't give me his name either. he wouldn't do anything, he just told me that the notes from the last call said that it was not a problem, and that it was quite normal heating. I'm sorry but my house is way cooler in the summer then it's winter and temperatures are always flat and stable. its blowing cool air and a large amount of air. He didn't listen at all.

then the next day it remains to 4150 rpm for 90% of the day instead of 60% of the day. even if im not using it. And she randomly stopped several times. from what I can find on these forums and online that is as a module fail safe mode... so obviously it is not normal!

As today is the first day it started to close I wanted to re-run the diag tests, but whenever I try, it runs for a few minutes, then the pc stops. The computer is running too slow, but this may be a different problem. I managed to get the dell diag and system mechanic to run tests, and they spent too. IM at a total loss...

The air coming from the fan system is very strong and cool so I don't think there are more heating goes on. As far as I can tell the pump works properly and all the fans are running.

This pc is less then a year old, so it is still warranty on it, as well as I, have purchased another year of warranty shortly before it started actually... And I don't want to try something else without help, because I don't want anything damage or damage my warranty coverage

I'd appreciate very much any help im at a loss to know what to do, and feel the support tech will start ignoring me if I recall more. If you can help out you can reach me at my email which is [email protected]. Or respond to this conversation.

Thank you and hope to hear from you,

    Katelin

Hi, looks like your processor is overheating and your system shuts down in order to avoid that the components of frying. • Re-install windows alienware aurora r4

Ive had a little problem with a previous problem and now I decided to reinstall windows 8.1 and I need some adivice to install windows on an alienware aurora r4

I have the "Alienware Aurora R4 resource, but from what ive read that I shouldn't use DVDs that on it because it's old sofware.» Instead, I have to download all on the Dell.com site upadtes

What I really need advice or a tutorial for someone who has never restore or formatted your desktop.

Suppose that I have installed windows 8.1. will be the liquid cooling sytem processor, fans, and fans will work? im a little scared that nothing works form the beginning and can cause damage due to overheating.

I also lose my service tag and the express service code which is on my system?

Before you do anything on my computer, I'm on the Dell.com product support page were all the drivers for my computer are

    ON order of the instalation

application is first (part of it is alienware command center)

    drivers

    then the BIOS

My real question, that's really what I really need to use the resource dvd for something or technical support dell gives all the drive required for installation.

    Thanks in advance

Drivers on the Support of Dell for the R4 page are likely to be newer than what's on your DVD of resources, so you must download them from the site and save to USB or other external device for installation on the R4.

Probably get you a better answer to your other questions if you re - post in the forum of the Club of Alienware . And it might be a good idea to provide details of your problems and why you want to reinstall Windows. Maybe someone out there can help you fix things without having to do a clean reinstall...

  • New Alienware Aurora R4 freezes every time in 50 minutes

I just got my new Alienware Aurora and oh joy, my first time owning this beautiful Monster - looking for a machine.  I have owned it now for five 5 days; but the experience so far has been frustration, to put it lightly.

The machine never stays more than 60 minutes at a time.  It crashes.  When it crashes, I hear the fans always roll the led still under the display theme AlienFX I put and it seems that everything is fine, but:

    1. the SCREEN turns off

    2. the keyboard does not work, systems is not responding to strikes again... as the keyboard is dead.

    3 mouse works now.

    4. nothing works, except the DVD tray that always comes out and in.

5 only the resolution is to force close it down and then turning it back on, via the power button.

I just installed MS Office, my keyboard and my mouse.  Nothing complicated.  I've now adjusted the power management to ensure that the disc hard system, display, etc. NEVER goes to SLEEP.  Yet, the machine still crashes as usual.  I'm not even games.  Simply creating a document, or watching a training video.  I even decided to just share my training on the Alienware video file and watch the video from another computer; accidents still Alienware and my video stops.  I decided to disable Windows Update, still problem persists.

I checked EventViewer for clues, NOTHING.  No log entry for when the system unresponsive.  What kind of a computer is what the hell?  I thought that with Alienware, I won't have any hassles, but this has been an exercise in troubleshooting non-stop for me since I got this computer; It became a distraction, as whenever I sit down to work, I find myself troubleshoot the computer each time.  I'm now trying to force me to forget everything and just use my old laptop; that I supposedly replaced when I upgraded to this Alienware machine.

It's Sunday today, I intend to call technical support for Dell tomorrow to start the support process.  But to give up some lines here just to get feedback / if there are similar experiences that can shed some light on this problem.

Please any response that can point me in the right direction will be appreciated.

    Hello

Yes.  A quick update from my post.  I called Dell technical support on Monday 20 October 2014 and the guys were fantastic.  I spoke with a guy named Bogdan; He spent almost 3 hours working with me on the problem over the phone.

I'll give you a detailed below:

At the time that I called him, the computer was no longer able to boot the system.  This is because the previous night, I have run AlienRespawn default factory reset, but the shutdown of PC in the process and then was not start over; and instead showed the blue screen.

So on the phone with Technical Support, we used AlienRespawn USB backup I had created the first day to reset the computer back to factory default.  And then I connected and put things up so that he can have the remote connection to the computer.  As soon as he connected, the computer decided to die just so :).  So we decided to do the Reboot usual cold.  And once again, as soon as it is connected and looking to run some test, the computer exploded again.

On the third attempt, the computer remained.

Bogdan then via a remote connection session, several controls and ran several stress-tests on virtually everything (RAM, CPU, graphics, etc.).  All tests came out, as adopted.  And then we installed software to monitor temperature and other stats like stress tests were running; all readings were really good.  Source of the problem was not yet clear.  We have been jointly shrink on two possible culprits, the graphics card or motherboard (or both in the worst case).

As we are still brainstorming and then try the AlienFX theme colors, the computer decided that it was time to STOP, once again.  And this time it faced a 6 six sound beeps sound sequence several times.  He did this once before, the previous week.

The machine had a mind of your own.  It was very random behaviors all the time.  He gave beeps when he wanted to.  He has changed the settings of the BIOS on its own; change the default settings, mode strives / EUFI, etc at random :).

So we turned and technical support preserved in tests.  He also uninstalled and reinstalled the updated version of the Alienware Command Center.  Even after that, all the readings and the results were perfect, but then Switched OFF the machine once again.

Makes technical support a call to change the four main components: motherboard, graphics card, MasterBoard and Water-Cooling system for the next day.   So I was expecting an engineer for the next day.  That evening, I decided to install all my software and turn on the computer to a State that is useful for my work and play.

The morning next day (Tuesday), I decided to continue to use the computer and just keep restarting it out every time.  And then, at some point given around 10:00, he remained THERE for nearly two hours (first time he stayed on this long), I was pretty sure that the problem had gone for an unknown reason.  And to share the joy with my Mrs, the machine went OFF :).

And this time it's completely DEAD.  It was not turn on anymore.  The LEDs and fan are turning on, but not to life on the screen, the keyboard or the mouse.  It remained so until the Dell technician came.

To my delight, a Dell technician was at my door at about 14:00, with all the necessary parts.  He was also very friendly and empathetic.  He quickly set to work and replaced all suspect parts.  We went ON and, oh joy :).  The machine came back running.

He made all necessary BIOS settings and my machine was fully operational.

I used it for almost 2 days now and no problems at all so far.  It's been great, even if sometimes it's like the trauma remains... I still fear that he might simply turn off on me anytime.  But so far so good.

So I can say at this moment, the issue is resolved and my device is fully operational.  Thanks for the support.  I hope that my very long story somehow help others who have a similar experience with their machine.

  • A start-up ware Alienware Aurora ALX

I bought an Alienware Aurora earlier this spring and have noticed that it takes a long time to start.  From the time I hit my power button, until all the icons on my screen are visible and able to work, it takes anywhere from 7 to 9 minutes.

I can see my desktop in 3-5 minutes, but due to other processes that I can click on Firefox and nothing won't happen for a few more minutes.

When I bought this computer I went with the RAID 0 option.  I had called and told them I wanted an SSD and a different option of RAID, but was told they don't do that.  So, I stuck with the RAID 0 option.  But have always noticed the slow start has been.  What is indigestion of alienware, like thermal controls?  Or something else that makes it so slow?

I do not support RAID on desktop computers, but it degraded sounds or something.

IMHO, I'd install SSD 256 GB (or more)... Although I had to clean install. My computer starts (for usable desktop) in about 20 seconds (with 100 process running).

    http://en.community.Dell.com/Owners-Club/Alienware/f/3746/t/19568143

Then I would probably break the raid, use a spinner HDD for large game installs and one for data files.

I went to very difficult to leave my boyfriend to buy this pc.  First of all, that we now live in different countries.  I live in the United States and he lives in England.  We met on a PS3 game online called DUST 514 and played a lot of pc games together as well.  It is difficult to have to steal it back, but we're getting married soon and I'll come to England.  He needs a new PC for years and was jealous of my Alienware Aurora R4. So I decided to buy one that is still better than mine since it's even greater player I am . This will also allow us to play more games together .

Then I he wired the money and thought that everything would be ok, but you wouldn't believe the amount of screw - rises, that Dell threw on him!  They had even cancel a bunch of commands of the peoples, b/c, trying to control his spec-ed on Alienware has revealed a major screw-up affecting many clients... (Sorry, it made me delete/modify-this until his order passes through.  Dell representatives were concerned about what happened past.  I don't know if they told people that they had to cancel the real reason why orders and the possible impact on customers with currently Alienware Aurora...  I'll tell you what they have done after that his order is finally through.  Just a hint... inside your Alienware Aurora, check if you own to make sure that everything you ordered is actually there...)  He tried to do this for a week now...  I thought Dell was a little better than that... I knew they had bad grades, but really?...  In any case, it is a complete system stressed mess of it all back and on phone calls and e-mails with different people of Dell.  So I thought that, if it still manages to get the Alienware, maybe I can do even better!

He really should have an SSD, so I'll get a. He was talking and drool on the maps of Titan, so I'll give him two EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN Superclocked 6 GB GDDR5 2DVI/HDMI/DisplayPort PCI - Express cards in SLI config! : http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-video-card-06gp42791kr

I've never built a pc or tinkered with all hardware.  I want to make this even more impressive pc by adding an SSD.  I think I can install an SSD without any problem (I want the Samsung 849 EVO Mz-7TE1T0BW 2.5 "1 TB SSD)... Oops... I just thought of something... 4 TB SATA is actually 4 2 TB SATAs, put in place with 2 as the mirror...  I think that there are only 4 connectors for extension for SSD/HDD... Is this correct?  I have to replace one of the SATAs 2 TB with the 1 TB SSD?  What configuration I would define then the three SATAs 2 TB?  Would it be to say that he would have only 1 TB SATA? Could I set up so that it has SATA 1.5 TB (with SATAs split with half active and part of the half of the mirror for a RAID configuration)?  Furthermore, I have really no idea what RAID is or fact, just that you only half of total storage really active and the second half is as a backup in case of failure of a disk or something to avoid any data loss total... It is also the thing that I'm confused about that I don't know if it is also possible to install two graphics cards of Titan in SLI configuration on the micro ATX motherboard, I guess its Alienware Aurora will be, and still less 1 Titan.  Yes I know it is exaggeration lol, but the game is very important for us, especially since this is how we met.

Sorry for the long post... Finally, the MAIN POINT & QUESTION:

I have to install a different motherboard like the Asus Rampage Black Edition IV: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-rampageivblackedition in order to install two Titan GPU in SLI configuration?  If so, how this O_o...?  Also, I heard that there is a 'girl' Council that controls the Alien FX LED lighting and ventilation Active... How to connect to the new motherboard (if I need to get a new one)?  Also if I get the other motherboard (if this motherboard work with everything) this motherboard would have space for 4 x 2 TB RAID 1 + 0 and the 1 TB SSD SATAs?

    Please answer.  Thanks, ~ value

to install two Titan GPU in SLI configuration?

Don't know why you config-ed with two years 780 in SLI if you want two Titan-SLI but this guy did:

Personally, I'd keep just 780 - SLI, since the two configs end up being very similar to the performance. Either they're going run hot (in the game of max.).
