  When you install Windows 8 you will essentially have 2 Internet Explorer.

• What is your 11g OBI Dev environment like?

  I'm curious to know what your 11g development environment/architecture looks like, and that install type you used. We are preparing to build a new 11.1.1.5 Dev Environment, we are new to the architecture of the merger. Our current g 10 Dev environment is hosted on a single server (we have 10-15 developers), but I guess an installation Simple on a single server would not suffice for 11 g.
  
  Is it a common practice to split the Web and Fusion Middleware layer on several different computers for non-production? We do not seek to balance cluster/Dev, so my first thought was to make a business on a single computer or split installation WT and FM on 2 machines.

  1. for Dev Env, I would recommend the installation Simple to OBIEE 11 g option. Please note that you can download the regurlar OBIEE 11 g Enterprise software. But at the time of Installation, you can choose the first option by default to use "easy install". This takes care of everything for you and creates a ready to use fully functional domain bi.

  2. now, before installing above stuff, the first prerequisite is to have an Oracle database (10 g Express Edition weight light db has worked for me without any problem). And in this database, you can run utility RCU to create 2 diagrams for BI as bi_platform, bi_mds. I installed Oracle 10 g Express edition lightweight and ran RCU in this PB. Then check out these 2 patterns in the first step above at some point. It works very well so far for me. So, on each developer machine, you can install Database 10g express edition and then OBIEE 11 g install Simple option.

  3. If you really want, you can always have regular Oracle Database 11 g full blown BUT on another computer. Having full oracle db and obiee stuff on a single machine, can have performance issues. So Oracle db on the different server. Comes now each developer to have its own schemas, so that they do not step over the other. If all the developers point to the same biplatform, bimds patterns, they will see each other data and it can be confusing. So you can run utility RCU no matter what number of times and each time just give a prefix different something like DEV1_BIPLATFORM, DEV2_BIPLATFORM, DEV3_BIPLATFORM etc. And 3 developers will use these 3 corresponding schemas prefixed. There no major performance impact.

  In conclusion, for the development, you can go with OBIEE 11 g install Simple option. For RCU patterns using Oracle 10 g Expresss edition (officitally not taken in charge but so far works fine). Or regular full move oracle database under separate server having the same patterns for all developers or each developer has his own schemas prefixed.

  I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused, there is already a bug reported for the same issue & we are working on that.

  In the meantime, you can keep the opacity to 100% or use a light shade of color to highlight the text.

  I didn't find anything exactly like your situation, but maybe one of system fonts is damaged.  See if the following can help.

  Right-click on an empty area of the desktop and select Properties
  In the Properties window, click the tab "appearance".
  In the appearance window, click on the button "Advanced".
  In the Advanced window go to the menu drop down under ' question: ' and select 'icon '.

  The default value must be fonts: Tahoma and size 8.  If those who are not your settings, change to make them so.  If not, try another font.  Not all fonts will allow you to use 8 point type; I wouldn't not much bigger.

  If your setting is already at 8 points Tahoma, open a text editor that allows you to specify fonts (e.g. Microsoft Word) and see if the police Tahoma works correctly.
