When a person must do a fresh install?

Hey everybody.

Over about the last 9 months, I had a lot of problems with my laptop. The updater window will not work, windows setup does not work, I can not download a bunch of stuff, because the installation program will not work, freeze things upward.

Therefore, I do a clean install. This will fix the problems I face?

Thanks for the advice in advance.

Thanks for the advice in advance.

A clean installation is possible at any time for any reason any.  It should always be approached with caution and with adequate preparation.  All the important data to the owner must be copied to external media and all the products (software, hardware) which are part of the system should be carefully invenotried and represented so that they can be installed/connected to the system in the required way for continuous use.

Then - backup your data, make sure you have the installation media and product key / series numbers for all of the software you wish to use and drivers / software for all the equipment that is in and connected to the system before continuing.  Something like Belarc Advisor (free for personal use) can help in the collection of these data.

Now - as to the question whether it would FIX all the problems... Which depends on many things, including the competence of the installer, the care which is taken and what is the real problem.  A clean install is unlikely a hardware problem, but it can help expose and adequate preparation steps is certainly useful in case to do a repair of the material that could result in the loss of any unsaved data.

Therefore, at the end of the day, if you are looking a certainty - does not exist.  If you want to perform the clean installation, of course, it will not HURT if done well - but will take time and we should approach that I presented.  Meticulously.

  • Hi im doing a fresh install of xp, but when I get to the product id it says invalid

Hi im doing a fresh install of xp, but when I get to the product id it says invalid... However I followed the steps to find the product key on the disk, I lost the sticker. any reason why this product key is not working? the hard drive is formatted and Ive tried several times now more double and triple check numbers etc, but still without success... dosent make any sence why he does not accept the product key, the computer is not connected to the internet (dose it have to be?) Please help

    Not enough information, Andrew.

If you used a CD with a retail version of XP Home (you never did say what type of XP you had!) and if you carelessly lost the COA with the product key if you use magic Jellybean Finder or Belarc Advisor and if you faithfully transcribed the key and if you used the correct installation of new and correctly typed in the key CD (be careful not to confuse a) 8 with a B or a S with a 5, etc.), this method will not work.

But we do not know the brand and model of your PC. We do not know what method the manufacturer provided to return the PC to its original state. We do not know which method you have elected to use to perform the installation of "fresh".

In addition, it is impossible to find the product key on the disk (unless it's something like an OEM CD mark Dell that contains a golden master key, which of course cannot be used on a Dell PC!).

As far as we know is you formatted the hard drive. So, even in the cases where you were, at some point, installed a version valid retail XP home and really lost the COA/product key and otherwise might have found the key to product using the SDM or Belarc, erase you the key when you formatted the drive!

I just do a fresh install of the host ESX 3.5. I can't connect it either by VI client or web browser. I can not ping. The ESX host can ping itself, but cannot ping the other. The network connection must be OK, because I don't have an FTP facility. I stopped the firewall and iptables. Things do not change. My work equipment used to run ESX 3.01, everything was fine. Is there a magic here?

When I do the install, I put a VLAN ID as '1 '. The default value is blank. Does make a difference?

Yes defining a tag VLAN will make a difference - try to run through the installation with defining a tag of vlan or go in the console and we ELE esxcfg-vswif command.

  • Boot Camp: This disc seems to have been divided by another utility. It must be erased before installing Windows.

I have a SATA Western Digital to 6 TB drive on my Mac Pro 2012.  I thought "what better place to put a bootcamp partition?  But when I went to use the Boot Camp Assistant, I was greeted with this:

Boot Camp: This disc seems to have been divided by another utility. It must be erased before installing Windows.

I thought ' OK - I'll delete data... Use utility disk to erase the disk completely, and then try again.  After a few hours, I used... completely partitioned disk utility disk and tried again.

    Same message.

It seems that for some reason I can erase completely and use the entire disk for Windows (blah) or should I use another drive or not Boot Camp at all.  Is there a problem with the size of the hard drive Boot Camp can support?  Any advice?

    Hello ElPapa,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

I understand that you want to put a Boot Camp partition on your Western Digital HD connected to your Mac Pro. What is your boot drive? If this isn't the case, it could be part of your problem. According to the following article on installing Microsoft Windows using Boot Camp, it is said that you need "at least 55 GB of free disk space on your startup disk".

How to install Windows using Boot Camp

If you install it on your boot drive and still get this message, take a look at this article: Boot Camp: alert message Partition when you use Boot Camp Assistant

  • Satellite C660 - need help with the fresh install of Win7

After a problem with my 660 SatC, I decided to Nuke the hard drive and do a fresh install using a W7 32-bit disk created from the web (there is a free library of Windows 7 iso images (sorry I forgot name).)

So I got the drive and the drive that has the drive, W7 is now saying that it can't find the device driver for the DVD drive it has been operating just to show him the first screen of W7.

Looking for drivers for the DVD player but no joy on the web.

    Can someone help me please?

Maybe stupid question on the start, but why you do not install original Win7 64-bit? I assume that you got your machine with preinstalled operating system.

    > If I had the drive and the drive that has the drive, W7 is now saying that it can't find the device driver for the DVD drive it has been operating just to show him the first screen of W7.
Sorry, but after reading this sentence I m completely confused and do not know how to understand it. If you have created the bootable installation disk, I hope you were able to successfully install Win7. After the first boot, you continue to install all the necessary drivers, the tools and the utilities that you can find on the download page of Toshiba - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

Optical disc drive using Microsoft driver and there is no some special drivers for this device. It must be recognized automatically by the operating system preinstalled.

  • Windows XP Home fresh install "bad_system_config_Info" error

    Hello

I'm trying to install a new copy of Windows XP Edition family on PC to a family member and I get a BSoD "bad_system_config_Info" error message and STOP code 0x00000074.after Setup support files.

    Background:
-New SATA HD (tested on my PC after a few BSoD of internal CONNECTIONS and with a box external w/USB connection. - it works fine).

-RAM is good. I tried 3 branches far and I get the same error (another suggested thread it was a problem of RAM)

-The BIOS is being updated and functional, I went through the settings offered on another thread.

-There are no files on the hard drive. I tried to format, create partitions, deleting partitions. Nothing has worked.

-The CD is fine. I ran a set up on top of another system and installed fine. (Yes, I spent a few hours ensuring that my installation disc was good = P)

I am at a loss to know what to do now. I have not run across a solution to solve this with a fresh install, right on systems 'installed' (i.e. the last config known, Point of system restore, etc...)

    Any ideas?

Looks like the problem is indeed RAM.

You have more than one stick of RAM? If RAM use as well as a stick and install XP.

  • If I update my motherboard I need to do a fresh install of windows

I do not remember what was told, but I want to update my motherboard. I think I remember from somewhere because if you upgrade or change your motherboard, you'll have to do a fresh install of your operating system. In my case, it's Windows Vista Ultimate OEM. Is someone can he tell me what are my options?

    Hello

    you have 2 problems

    1. you usually reinstall vista after upgrading a motherboard as the operating system installed on the hard drive already has old drivers from the motherboard installed. so does not start

    2. you have an OEM license.

An OEM license is linked to the original equipment installed on

When the computer dies, the OEM license dies with him

Contact the manufacturer of the computer and see if they are willing to do what you want

  • After cancellation of Windows 10, still getting notificiation at system level to Windows 10. ("your upgrade is ready, you must now restart to install... »)

    Hi all

I have a problem with my system which concerns the upgrade of Windows 10 - I agreed to download, and then decided to not put at level I like Windows 7 as-is. Windows 10 then installed himself anyway after I didn't say thank you, and after giving it a try I rolled back to Windows 7 because of the 10 interfering with my internet protocols and prevent net access.

HOWEVER, now that I'm back on Windows 7 I always get Windows 10 update notice ("your upgrade is ready, you must now restart to install... "), and Windows update will only say it has downloaded 10 and I need to reboot... I uninstalled the update of KB3035583 according to online recommendations to stop this, but my Windows Update still says that it needs to restart the upgrade, despite the fact that the upgrade has already been installed, restored, then uninstalled and is basically not wanted. Windows Update issues are of no assistance (cannot find a problem and does not have a relevant help topic as far as I can find), and because he insists on an immediate reboot I can't seem to access the more updated list to find a solution. I actually tried to restart the computer, but this results in the same situation - 10 Windows is always uninstalled (thank God), but Windows 7 is still give me urgently install and restart notifications for what I can't get rid of.

I'm sure I can't be the only person having this problem, but I can't find any info online (all I found is on the way to restore, rather than how to deal with the consequences). At the moment it's like I'm working with Malware, which really is not what I expected from Windows normally and honestly, isn't hard enough.

    In summary:

10 installed Windows, then restored to 7.

Windows 7 update still wants to install 10 Windows and locks in trying to restart.

Restart affect anything, as does cleaning registry or try to uninstall the previous updates.

As far as I know, it means that I don't get updates to Windows 7 in the meantime.

As it is, I'm really worried about the State in which the company Windows 10 has left my system and no matter what help he is serving my system and updating so that Windows 7 can return to normal again would be very greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for your time.

  • Windows 7 screen resolution is not agree with me after I did a fresh install of Windows!

So after doing a fresh install of Windows 7 Home Premium on my laptop two days ago, I have tried many unsuccessfully to try to resolve a problem of resolution resulting from the update. My resolution is automatically set to a resolution of 1024 x 768 very blurry and I cannot recover my original resolution. When I go to the next option and the last, on the resolution list, 1280 x 1024, the screen is completely distorted and stretched which is hard on the eyes and is certainly not the original resolution for my laptop before the update. It's like installing new Windows completely wiped out my original graphics drivers.

I also noticed with update that my graphics driver and the driver were set at "NVIDIA Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" which I am absolutely positive is not what I was using before, that I don't have a video card installed, even if I use not this laptop for games and is no longer for the school and other work. I'm 99% sure that I have a card NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 installed, that even though he is old, always worked well, but even in this case, I'm still not sure if it's the card I have, which could be the reason why I can't find the right drivers for it.

For reference (I'm running in Mode safe):

I tried to update this standard graphics driver, but he claims, there is no update. I run all my virus programs, I have all my updates installed Windows, and I used the boost driver to try to see if there is any other updates, but nothing has worked. I did a "sfc/scannow". I ran Microsoft FixIt, tried to look in the "list all Modes" under the control panel screen resolution and I currently can't 'uncheck' Modes 'hide' because it is all grayed out. Honestly, I think I have tried everything to solve this problem, but I think he came to where I think I need to ask someone who can find the exact video card I have in my computer so I can possible find the driver for it, and maybe that would solve the problem.

For reference, I also have a laptop Toshiba Satellite P25-S507. Running Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit. If any other type of information is necessary, I can give him, let me know how to get around to provide for you. I will continue to try to see what I can do but for the moment, help! D:

You do not use / install "driver booster" or other programs of type 'FixMyPC '.

You need to visit your computer makers portable, specific to your model support site and install all the available drivers (Chipset/graphics/lan, etc.)

How old is the machine, and what are the specs - cpu, motherboard, RAM and disk capacity, and

-If the machine is, say, five years or more I will not lose my activation of Win10 in this regard. Have your companion to reinstall sound

I don't remember if this affects in fact Windows updates however. Your original message occurred when executing

Windows updates? If installation of updates you want to avoid the update of "Get Win10" thing-a-me.

This comes with the number of update - KB 3035583.  I would go on kb2952664 as well

The exact wording of the error can help. Can be the key word, the error messages as many tend to be

pretty generic. Off the cuff, I assume a problem with the HARD drive.

HDD (four times in three days) that I used for the 10 experience, but he did Chase.

Another poster I was talking about was having a similar problem with WIN10. I'll try 10 on a newer version

Drive HARD, but was already exhausted by the ordeal and I returned the my Win7 disc (PC can be like that).

"I guess that I am cut too many corners and should stick with giants like 'Dell'". "."

No! Please, I beg you! Not the Giants! D

You only cut too many corners so your processing power machines is less than your needs.

DELL reference studies right corners down.

-If the current machine is new and requires only a new component, stick with it may be viable. If it isn't...

Search current parts, order parts, read a few tutorials of the Assembly and assemble your own.

It is not too difficult (connections on the front panel can be the cause of some confusion ) Just exercise care and attention and the result is a machine equivalent to a price lower than the OEM.

Not wanting to? No worries, buy a DELL. They are good, especially if you do not play high-end Games PC.

Power CPU and RAM capacity are so high these days that you can get on a low end machine, wouldn't it

do common tasks such as the internet, the business running or emissions or hobby level Photoshop or

    Audio editing.

-My first machine ('03?) was an ex-company DELL. And like a lot of this kind of

PC, he was a bit overwhelmed, and the price ($500 AUD) for what was, at the time where I bought it,

but he survived a year with me and a couple of years with a friend who I sold it ($ 100).

I am an avid player and the DELL was not really up to it, so I set up my first game machine,
