When I connect my laptop to my TV via a HDMI cable, it's too dark.

I recently got a new LG HDTV and when I connect my laptop, it looks way too dark on my TV, but it looks good on my laptop screen. I know it's a problem with my laptop because when I watch movies on my Playstation 3, they look very good. I compared the same movies to my PS3 and my laptop, and they look really dark when I look through my laptop.

Is there a way to change the color/contrast/etc, that appears on my TV, but not my phone? Also, I already tried to change the setting of the color on my TV, but it does not solve the problem. It wasn't a problem with my old TV, the color was very good about it. Thank you in advance for your help!

Thank you very much for your help!

It seems that my graphics driver is up to date. When I tried to run the Setup program, this pop up: http://i.imgur.com/iWQyvNq.jpg

EDIT: I managed to find a newer version on getdriver.com, and this most recent graphics driver allows me to do what I need solve the problem. I was able to change my color on my screen without changing the color on my laptop.

Thank you very much for your help. The problem was solved!

I have a VGA cable that I used for a while now, to connect my laptop to a TV for use as a moniter... I never had no problem that until recently.  Now, the screen appears on the TV screen only when the laptop is starting up, but as soon as the program windows load and gets the TV turns off screen to the password screen.  However when I start the computer by using 'safe mode' I have no problem at all either... and to make things worse and more complicated the screen for my laptop is broken so I can't use it all.  Please help me with any suggestions as to what I might be able to make :(

  • I'm trying to connect my computer to my HDTV via a HDMI cable that connects my computer directly into the TV. I plug it in turn all away and top but nothing, just 'no signal' suggestions on solving this problem?

HDTV is a Pangoo with 2 HDMI Sockets.
The computer is a Dell windows XP with 1 HDMI.

I had the same problem and I've spent too many hours to find a solution and I finally found one. I could also connect with my HDTV with HDMI, then one could i ' t.

Go to your "Start menu", click on "controll panell", choose "notebook", then "windows mobility center", on the "external" box click on 'connect the screen' and wait a bit until a box appears. Choose "duplicate my desktop on all displays (mirrored), choose and then aply OK.

I hope I have been helpful for you and many others and you can enjoy your movies on your TV again.

  • When I try to connect with my wireless laptop will connect only to Local access. If I connect the laptop to the router with the ethernet cable, it works very well.

    VIsta - Local access only

    HI -.
I recently moved.   I use the same router from my old apartment and I had no problem connection in the past.   Since I moved I have a new Time Warner modem (Cisco) and the modem works fine.

The router also works very well I'm able to connect with my iPhone and IPad without any problem.

But when I try to connect with my wireless laptop, it will only connect to Local access.    If I connect the laptop to the router with the ethernet cable, it works very well.

    It's a Dell Studio 15 with Vista.

The computer is able to connect to wifi to other places without any problem, but for some reason that I can't connect home.   I tried to reset the modem and the router several times, but that did not help.   I tried the option repair & diagnose several times but it doesn't work.

I tried to look for other solutions online and tried to disable IPv6, and while it helped some and I was able to connect wireless, the computer ran so slowly that it didn't seem like a good solution.

This has been very frustrating.   Thanks in advance for any help or suggestion.

When I connect my Toshiba L300D laptop to my Samsung 40 inch lcd tv using vga to vga connection it works fine for a few minutes. Then the screens on the laptop and the TV start to turn on and turn off, also jumps around cursor. Can someone tell me what is the problem and how to correct.

    Hello

Try changing the VGA cables and check if it helps.

If the problem persists, then I suggest you to update the firmware.

Note: BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

I get a message telling me that I need to activate Windows before I can move forward.  This problem seems to coincide when I upgraded my laptop to IE8.  I did this as well via the internet and by phone to generate a new ID, but the problem recurs every day.  Last weekend, I got a message saying that I should give my COA in order to proceed.  After a few trials and tribulations I soke to a support person of client who gave me a new ID number and assured me the problem would be solved.  A week later and I'm back to where I started from and had turn on my PC by calling the hotline.  I would like to know how can I solve this problem

what I'm trying to get a sound with HDMI, it will not work...

    Delfim João

    Hi @Delfim ,

Thank you to visit the Support Forums HP and welcome and thank you for all the information about what you tried. I looked in your question about your computer laptop dv7 HP ENVY and the problems of sound with an HDMI cable connected.

    Try this fix.

    1. a click right icon "speaker" (right)
    2. Select playback device
    3. click right speakers
    4 activate and as default
    5. click apply/OK

This is a general document on the resolution of the problems with the HDMI connection.

With the HDMI cable you have restarted the laptop?

    Have you tried another cable?

    Hope it will be useful.

    Thank you.

  • Can I damage my graphics card by connecting my laptop to my tv via hdmi.

Hi, I was shopping at Best Buy and I heard someone saying that I could damage my graphics card by connecting my pc to my TV via HDMI. This is a not seem OK for me but thought I would check doube. I have a dv6-3225dx Pavilion Entertainment PC. I have windows 7 64 bit. Thank you very much

    Hello:

I've never heard of such a claim.

People connect external monitors and TV on their laptops all the time, that's why they are equipped with video/HDMI ports.

Probably, there is a higher risk of damage/overheating to the graphics card for games graphics intensive video then they streaming video to an external monitor/TV.

    I would not be concerned.
