When I place an image with no bkd it comes up with a white bkd...

Hello

Hope you are well.

I created an image in Photoshop text some effects on it. The background is transparent.

When I place it in TIFF format in an InDesign file however, it with a white background.

Is it because it's a TIFF file?

In the end, I had success placing as a GIF (which I know can handle transparency) but be a good format for printing?

I've attached a screenshot of what it looks like on the TIFF format.

Thanks a lot for your help.

When you saved the TIFF did you select Save transparency in the TIFF options? By default, TIFF is flattened.

This is an expected behavior, when you place an image in InDesign, then it displays a preview of the image but you has no impact of the exit, unless the image is of low resolution itself.

In order to have the correct resolution of images, you can switch to view > display performance > high quality.

Dear Cari, thank you for taking the time to answer. I tried this and many other things including uninstalling and cleaning of all my machine Adobe products. • Uneven placement of images with SSD storage

    All,

I'm running through a PoC project with a client using view 5.1 according to the instructions in "reference Architecture for VMware for desktops virtual stateless on Local Storage SSD with VMware View 5" as close as possible.

    http://www.VMware.com/resources/TechResources/10278

I have all eight nodes identically configured with SSD storage room - once again all the model the same readers, all empty.

Creating a pool of clones associated with this group creates a very uneven placement of the images.

For example if I create a pool of 80 virtual machines on drives 8 distribution will be something like...

    Disc 1-30

    Disc 2-5

    Disc 3-0

    Disc 4-25

    Disc 6-10

    Disc 7-10

    Disc 8-0

If I remove then 30 V in the pool, he can remove all 30 disc 1. At the time where every action on the pool must be controlled manually.

Has anyone else hit this behavior.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that's the way it is designed.

When you dial a number of offices the decision of balancing is put there, so all desktop computers will be will be on the data store / host (s) which has the less perceived load.

Because you use local storage there is no opportunity to rebalance desktop computers.

    Hello

Let's say I have multiple images having the same 8 digits but different endings.

    15889801_1.PSD

but of course, it doesn't. Is it feasible or should I make a loop looking for all the possible endings?

    Thank you

    Ben

It's a little easier that I described in this post. I have learned a few new things since then, I guess

You can subscribe .getFiles a generic regular expression, but you can also feed a function. The function is called for each object (which can be a file or a folder) with the file object as an argument and he must return to 'true' or 'false', where 'true' will include it in the result. (Because underscores that "the purpose of file" default returns the entire path and you obviously only want to test the "Filename" part.)

Your sample files list displays only the PSD files, but I understand that you also want to enter other types of files. Theoretically, you can use the generic regular expression ' 15889801 *.» ' * ', but with a function that uses GREP, you have more control:

    result = Folder("/Volumes/Photos").getFiles ( function (anyItem) {
                        return anyItem instanceof File && anyItem.name.match(/^15889801.*\.[a-z]{3}$/i);
              });
    alert (result.length+' files:\r'+result.join('\r'));

Note that I added ' ^' (beginning of string) at the start and 'i' used in the indicators of RegExp. I don't think that you need here of 'g' (Global) - first of all, he is beaten by my ' ^', in the second place, this would correspond to any occurrence of the string of numbers anywhere inside any file name. Then it would correspond to files where this string does not occur at the beginning of the file name. And the 'i' is so that it does not match only ".psd" but also ".» PSD»

The "$" at the end only provides and extensions exactly 3 letters are returned. Your version would not only "15889801.abc" but also "15889801.abcde" and even "15880901.psd.do_not_use.old_backup.indd".

If you find that the function returns too many files, including a couple of extensions, you do not want, you can always make an exhaustive list of the extensions you do want:

    .. anyItem.name.match(/^15889801.*\.(psd|eps|etc)$/i);

  • Apply a mask or something to an image with a white backgroung.

    Hello

This is my second post today.

In this post, I'm trying to understand how to apply a background texture or image to another image.

The foreground image is complex to choose all the pixels using the tools of scrolling text that I want to consider as a backdrop.

But it is above all one color, white.

Consider an image that is ink sketch by using many colors but a sketch of the pen, it has much, much background paper.

Lets say, it is scanned into the computer. Immediately the white background is a little hundreds of almost white colors.

All I want to do is create a rectangle style paper and place it under the ink, so replace the paper with my own book.

I tried to place the rectangle on top of the image and using 'overlay' Fuzzy light' and all filters. Some are close, but they seem to everyone either lose the quality of the paper or affect colors ares too.

I also tried to export as gif with transparency indexed, but I want to mix alpha aliasing and 32-bit color.

What I want, it's as if I used the magic wand and clicked on a white area, and instead of just the current selected graduation section, I want that all ares to choose so similar color.

    Thank you

    Jerry

For the card to play, why not use the magic wand?

    1. Select the magic wand, tolerance of 19, hard edge, then click once on any white space, particulaly a 'white mass' area, so you get a lot with a single click.

    2. go in Select > similar. This will get about 99% of all white.

    3. go in Select > Inverse.

    4. the card image object to play active in the layers panel, click the Add layer mask icon at the bottom of the layers panel. This will hide out / knock out all white. However, Edge fidelity is not large: two steps will correct this.

    5. Select the thumbnail of the layer mask, then go filter. Blur > Gaussian blur (adjustable between 1 - 2). This will smooth the edges.

    6. always with the assets of the layer mask thumbnail, go filter > adjust color > levels. First, push the gray levels (one in middle) slider all the way to the right (towards the white slider). Then slowly drag black to the right until you see the best result in the edge.

    7. Add a canvas of color other than white to see how affective is the detachable part.

My results in a few minutes see attached.

Original - up and down, the process described above. Working alone little etra would zoom in and manually hide (black brush) the remaining stray white areas.

  • How to create a vector from an image with a white line

I need help as soon as possible.

I have a design that I made in Photoshop CC 2014 and I need to make a vector. I was told the best way to proceed was to file in Illustrator CC 2014, which is what I have, but every guide I followed takes off the white line that goes around the text and extends beyond the tree. I need this white one to be there and it's so frustrating that I can't find a guide that will help me keep it there!

Please, if anyone has the solution, please describe in DETAIL. , I have included the image, I work for example. I put a background black on it so you can see the white line which must remain outside the vehicle. The black background will not be outside the final vector.SYH_3kx3k.jpg

    Matt,

According to me, you can do the following:

Come back to Photoshop and create black background like a rectangle, then the raster work is separated into two:

The one with the red/white text on black background and the other with the tree on black background.

Image then trace each and expand each track and then line them up by the outermost paths (tracing the outside shape of the black rectangles that must be identical).

Then take it from there, with full marks.

  • Illustrator crashes when you save files .ai with images linked or embedded

    Hello

Currently, I have a huge problem with Adobe Illustrator. When I place an image file in an Illustrator document, the program hangs for about 45 seconds during recording. At first I though it was just because my image file was too big, but this was not the case.

To test what's going on I created a new document, has drawn a few lines and saved. No problem, Illustrator recorded immediately. Then I placed an image larger and suddenly hang Illustrator when recording. I repeated with a very small GIF of a few KB and again, hang Illustrator for nearly a minute when saving the image. I tried to embed the image instead of linking to it, but I still have the same results.

Then I turned of the visibility of the object image by clicking the eye symbol bit in front of the image object and suddenly Illustrator could save quickly again. The next thing I wanted to try was closed compression and PDF compatibility, but then I noticed that Illustrator is actually suspended before writing the file to disk. When I hit "save under" Illustrator was asked where to save the new file, and then after clicking on 'Save', it blocks (showing "(ne répond pas) ' in the title bar"). About 45 seconds later the save dialogue options came and when I clicked 'OK' he recorded the file immediately.

Does anyone know what could be the problem? I use Illustrator CS5 on Windows 7 x 64. The computer is a laptop with 8 GB of RAM and a switchable graphics card. I have tried this on both the Intel graphics integrated unit, as well as on the much more powerful AMD Chip. The hard driver that I record is the local hard drive (no network etc.).

It is a facility more or less fresh (I've not used before Illustrator on this notebook) and I don't remember that I had the same problem on my desktop where I used it inside a virtual machine (which no longer exists).

Strange events of the strangest things.

I have created a completely new profile on my machine and all of a sudden it worked although I copied the profile Adobe everything on the new profile of the user (except the AppData\Local files). I don't know what the problem was, but now it's obviously set.

  • Difference between CS3 and CS4 when you place images, unguarded percentage

There is something of a difference between CS3 and CS4 when you place images. The images I'm dealing with right now were vector images, but it could apply to all sorts of images.

When you replace an existing image, the behavior of CS4 is to leave the image full frame. In CS3, the percentage was set at 100% as default (% see you when selecting the image, not the container).

Also when you replace an impage in CS4, the 'internal' picture frame is maintained, while in the C3, the percentage was limited.

Y at - it sort of investment preferences / settings leave CS4 same wat like CS3 did, when you place an image?

    -Andreas

If reliinking keeps the scale or dimensions is now a part of preference in CS4, if that helps.

You can play with this setting and do a few manual rebinding to see if something is appropriate. I'm not a script, but I think you can reset this preference as part of a script.

  • In Illustrator Image Trace, how "place" an image at the same size as the PS file?

If I work in Photoshop in 300 dpi and I want to insert a border around a form, with the help of Illustrator to create the plan, such as it is, it is impossible to do that. Go all the way back to Streamline (someone he remembers Streamline?), if you placed a picture of the automatic route, vectorization, or, now, 'Trace of Image', the placed image would be just that a copy of the same size of the file original raster. Not now. Now, placing an illustration for tracing involves waving a positioning reticle identified as '1:1 ' with which you can make the image is traced back to whatever size you want, and there is no ghosting or model to help size with reliability. At least, as far as I can tell. Am I missing something here? I went through the files using Illustrator and a copy of the 'Illustrator CC' of Weinmann. Nothing. It seems as if the Image monitoring mission is no trace, but to resize, so that the vectorized image likeness no size-the original.   Can anyone help?

    Birck,

The value of W (as is the value of H) is in pixels if the selected unit, and in this context, a pixel is identical to a point or 1/72nd of an inch, corresponding to 72 DPI.

So when you place the image, the w and H values reflect pixels real x the size in pixels of the image, regardless of the resolution created / used to in Photoshop.

And that is why it must be reduced by multiplying with 0.24 and do appear in the size corresponding to 300 PPI.

    No need for percentages.

But you can also select the image and use the object > transform > scale and apply uniform 24%, which is equivalent to multiplying by 0.24 as described.
