When I reinstall El Capitan on a new drive, should I install device drivers?

I am completely new to the Mac, after using Windows all my life.

My question is; I'll put a new, larger internal SSD in my MacBook Pro and of course re - install El Capitan.  I need to download and install device drivers, as you do with Windows machines?

In addition, my MacBook Pro is 8 years old and the battery is endangered.  How a new battery will be?

N ° OS X contains everything that is needed. You have a project in front of you. But see the following:

How to replace or upgrade a drive in a laptop

Step 1: Fix the hard disk and permissions

Boot from an OS X install disc

1. Insert the OS X installation disc into the optical drive.

2 restart the computer.

3. immediately after the ring, press and hold the C"" key.

4 release the button when the spinning gear under the Apple grey dark

logo appears.

5. wait for the installer to finish loading.

Boot from a recovery HD:

1. reboot the computer.

2. immediately after the ring, press and hold the

'ORDER' and the set of keys 'R '.

3. release the keys when appears the utilities Menu.

After the installer loads, choose your language and click on the button continue. When the menu bar appears, select disk utility from the menu of the Installer (the menu utilities for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard).

For Lion or later select disk utility in the main Menu of public services.

After disk utility loads select your entry from hard drive (to mfgr. ID and Player size) of the list on the left.  In the disk utility status area, you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is faulty or has failed. (State SMART is not reported on external drives Firewire or USB). If the drive is "verified", then select your OS X volume in the list on the left (subentries under the entry for the road), click the first aid tab, then click the repair disk button. If THE reports any errors that have been corrected, and then run repair disk again until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, click repair permissions. Wait until the operation is complete, then exit FROM and return to the installer.

If Disk utility reports errors, that it can not solve, then Disk Warrior or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you do not have one of them or none of them can fix the disc, then you will need to reformat the hard drive and reinstall the OS X.

Second stage: Remove the old drive and install the new drive.  Place of the old drive in an external USB enclosure.  You can buy one at OWC , which is also a good supplier for the readers.

Step 3: boot from the external drive.  Restart the computer and after the buzzer, press on and hold down the OPTION key until the Boot Manager appears.  Select the icon of the HD to the external hard drive recovery, and then click the arrow pointing down.

Fourth step: new preparation of the hard drive

1. open utility disk in the utility Main Menu, then click on the continue button.

2. the disk utility charges and then select your new hard drive (it's the entry with the)

MFGR. ID and size) from the list on the left. Note the SMART status of

the reader in the status area of THE.  If it says not "verified" and then the player

is failing or has failed and will need replacement.  Otherwise, click on the

Tab in the main window of the disk utility partition .

3. in the title of the Volume entitled plan defined the number of partitions from

the drop to one. Set the type of Mac OS Extended format

(Journaled). Click the Options button, set the partition scheme

GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition/apply button and

Wait until the process is completed.

4. Select the volume you just created (it's the auxiliary input under the)

entry by car) from the list on the left. Click on the Erase tab in THE MAIN

window.

5. set the type of format Mac OS extended (journaled). Click on the

The button options , check the box for zero data and click OK to

return to the window to erase it.

6. click on the delete button. The formatting process can take up to several

hours depending on the size of the disk.

Fifth step: clone the old disk to the new disk

1. Select the destination volume in the list on the left.

2. click on the tab restore in the main window of THE.

3. check the box labeled destination Erase.

4. Select the destination volume in the left list and drag it to the

Destination entry field.

5. Select the volume of the source of the list on the left and drag it to the

Input source field.

7. check you correctly, then click on the restore button.

Destination means the new internal drive. Source means the old external drive.

Step 6: open preferences Startup disk and select the new internal volume.  Click restart.  You should boot from the new drive.  Eject the disk and disconnect it from the computer.

  • I started Windows 7 Windows 10 times Acrobat Reader updated to DC.  Now Acrobat Reader DC does not work and I can't reinstall.  The installer says newer version is already installed.  How can I fix it?

I'm stuck in limbo.  I fell sick of the poor performance and constant crash of Windows 10 and back to Windows 7.  I was warned that I may have to reinstall some software and was pleasantly surprised when nothing seemed to miss.  Then I noticed that the new Acrobat Reader DC icon was just a white icon on the desktop.

Of course, the reader does not open when I clicked it, then I went to uninstall and reinstall.  No go.  The uninstall program complained that he was unable to find the. MSI file in the path with the big ugly GUID in there.  I really care about the features of cloud of Document in any case, if I am I would like to install Acrobat Reader XI and finish with the DC version.  Again, no go.  The Setup program stops and a message that a newer version is already installed.

Next, I tried to reinstall the CD think that Setup is trying to fix the Bjorked version on the disc.  No go.  Once again the installation program complained that a newer version is already installed and bailed out without doing something useful.

So, I'm pretty damn good here because I can't go forward and I can't go back.  Windows 7 uninstall tool think I installed Acrobat Reader XI and when asked to uninstall it still trying to dive into the folder Acrobat Reader DC and can not find the MSI file he seeks even if lead by the nose.

Setup of Acrobat Reader DC think that some superhuman drive versions are installed and will not install no matter how much I beg it.

    What should I do?

    Claudio,

I have found cleaners and tried both version 4 and version 2 as Windows uninstall although I still have version 11 on my system, but could not uninstall it.  Even after using detergents and restarting, the installation of Acrobat Reader complained that it was a newer version of the PC alreadyon and came out of the installer.

I finally decided to remove all records of Adobe in C:\ProgramData and that did the trick.  I was able to reinstall the version 11 player, and I think I'll stay with that after the nightmare of all clouds 'features' in Windows 10.

  • I reinstalled Vista on a new hard drive and after installing the drivers Bluetooth, the icon will not be displayed in the control panel

A few weeks ago my drive hard out crapped on me and I bought a new one. I installed Vista on it and thought that I installed all the drivers. Yesterday, I had to use my bluetooth and noticed that it has not been installed. After knowing that I need a patch for it, I was able to connect my phone to my computer. But now the icon is not in the control panel so that I could easily adjust settings or view paired devices. I can only adjust the settings of the icon in the bottom left of the taskbar. Whenever I try to view paired devices I get the icon of waiting and then nothing happens.

Ø what service pack is installed on your computer?

If you don't have SP2 on your computer, you may not be able to see the icon in the control panel. Try to install SP2 on your computer and check the status.

    OR

You can uninstall the device blue tooth from the Device Manager and restart the computer that will install the generic drivers, then check if the icon is listed in Control Panel.

I don't know what it is for.  Can I remove it?

Windows Update would only install a package of drivers for hardware that is located on your computer. Silicon Labs is a NASDAQ legitimate listed developer material even if not known directly to the components of the PC. However they produce some, for example the USB controllers.

The situation is also confused by the different companies, they bought so it can now be labeled as SL when the material has a different name.

  • Obtaining of S.M.A.R.T. error when you try to reinstall El Capitan

    Bought end of 2012

    Model: iMac 21,5 "

    Version: 10.11.4

    OS El Capitan

Recently, I deleted the data on my hard drive in the hope of "reset" of the computer to its factory settings. Clear data wasn't a problem, but the reinstallation of the operating system has become a challenge. The computer is not very old, and it has worked very well before erasing the hard drive. But now, when I reinstall El Capitan, I get an error message that says: "this disc a S.M.A.R.T. errors. This drive has a hardware problem that is not repairable. Backup of data as much as possible and replace the drive. »

I feel like the error message is incorrect because it appears only now after I erased the hard drive... I was wondering if anyone else has had this experience, and what tips or tricks you could give? Thank you very much.

Why don't you have confidence the message?

SMART is a system of industry standards designed to predict hard drive failure. SMART errors can be triggered at any time, indicate that the player is under-performing and will probably fail soon.

It is not related to erase you the drive - the chances are that the INTELLIGENT warning appeared quickly when you use the drive normally. It * is * possible that a full erase of drives insisted on the drive that has highlighted (perhaps even accelerated) the problem, but it would have occurred as soon as look at it and the warning should be taken seriously - the drive is likely to fail quickly.

  • How to install windows on the new drive?

    Hello

I have a HP Pavilion dv7-3080, which came with Windows7. Now, I bought a 120 GB SSD. I tried to install Windows on the SSD by selecting Factory Reset. However, I get the message that the size of the hard drive has changed and that's why I can't use Factory Reset.

Is there a way how can I use the Windows7 that came with my laptop and install this on my new drive!

To my knowledge, I am not break everything right since Windows7 came with the laptop and was part of the price I paid for the laptop.

    Kind regards

    Sja785

    Hello:

Partitions or recovery discs do not work on a smaller hard drive.

You need to install a simplified version of windows 7 on your SSD. You will not break the laws or rules of license by using the product key on the bottom of the PC to activate the installation.

However, if you can not read all 25 characters of the product key you are flat out of luck and will have to buy a new operating system.

Here's how to make your own simple Windows 7 installation disc if you have not already.

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Or use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. Link and instructions below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB compilation method.

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/HTML/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.
