When I try to access utility 'defrag' from Microsoft, a link to "Diskeeper" is everything that happens with download and purchase required.  What is an intrusion to avoid?  It is possible to access the Microsoft defrag utility?

Glen, have you ever tried to download Diskeeper?

If so, he may have added something on your computer for access to defragment.

You're going to start > all programs > Accessories > system tools > Disk Defragmenter and obtaining the pop-up window?

Check in Add/Remove programs and see if something diskeeper is installed then uninstall it.

Post back with more information, make and model of the pc, current anti-virus, browser and operating system and the service pack.

You must set up your default email program to send on a Web site.  Go to control panel | Default programs and set your default e-mail program there.  If your e-mail program is web-based, then you probably can't use this feature (sends the Web site file), then you may need to copy the site, and then paste it into a new message and then send it.

  • I have the latest Firefox installed on an older Dell and the CA security suite through my ISP, that takes up all my CPU and causes everything to freeze when I try to access its features. I need a free internet security software that my so tax system

Have old Dell Dimension 32/bit with Win XP Prof 2002. I installed the security suite CA from my ISP, which is a huge program and uses 100% CPU on starting and stopping, slowing everthing at a snails pace. I deleted evrything I need not using 30 days free Revo Unistaller Pro, but when I try to access the CA firewall to add programs to the exemption, it opens, then freezes tabbed Firefox and nothing else. Can not even stop from the start menu. I want to get rid of all (even if it's a good program, it's too big) and return to my Win Firewall(or another better free firewall that's good for more than 30 days trial) and some other internet security free program that is easy, runs in background and does not all my resources and is not just a 30 day free trial until you purchase the program. I also try to install a wireless adapter, so I can drop my ISP and use the free city/county signal as no work for 20 months!

== Trying CA security firewall access Suite

I am the original poster, and I got rid of CA Security Suite & and loaded the Avast! who has some interesting features, even on the freeware. No more crashes or freeze & yes I think there is a problem with CA & Firefox, but don't know what it is. It was a big big time eater. I also got rid of my ISP and installed an Intellinet Wireless G PCI Card & am now entirely wireless on my PC. More quickly by far than what I was paying $50 / month for & I use my Windows Firewall.

  • I run 10 64-bit Windows and I have used iTunes for years. iTunes installs OK, I disable Norton Firewall during installation. iTunes starts OK, but when I try to access the store down ¾ of the page turns black

I run 10 64-bit Windows and I have used iTunes for years. iTunes installs OK, I disable Norton Firewall during installation. iTunes starts OK, but when I try to access the store down ¾ of the page turns black, the upper band has Taylor Swift and a few small icons to the bottom of the page. If I type Perry Como, in the search box, the page does not change.

lysdexic01, I know almost exactly what you describe on my screen of iTunes Store recently updated for Windows 7 64-bit. Only difference is that the icons in the black box are invisible until I move the mouse above them, their location by trial and error. Once activated, the icon remains visible. Each found icon flickers at first, but stops flashing if I pass the mouse over it.

I think that the store is now functional and useless for those of us experiencing this problem. Other users have reported that their iTunes store screen flickers since they updated iTunes to the latest version, but most did not mention the area big black screen that you and I see.

So far, Apple seems not to believe that there is a problem with the software to update iTunes. It is therefore important that users continue to report these problems to Apple that there are enough complaints for attention even during a week of office party.

  • When you try to access at & T Yahoo e-mail from Firefox, I get an error message.

When I try to access at & T of Firefox Yahoo email, I get an error message:

Your screen resolution is set below our minimum recommendation of 1024 x 600 pixels.

When I handed my screen resolution (which incidentally is > than requested) AT & T Yahoo rejects the change and returns me to the error screen.

I received this error message for years, but until today, I was able to work around the error message by pressing a "Try Again" box on the page. This strategy stopped working today.

AT & T told me that I should use a different browser! (If you contact me by email I will send you a pdf of this conversation.)

I love my Firefox, and it's very inconvenient to use another browser to access my email account.

  • I am logged in as administrator. When I try to move the files from drive c to e drive, I get the message that I have currently not authorized to access this file.

    Administrator permissions

I am logged in as administrator.  When I try to move the files from drive c to e drive, I get the message that I currently don't have permission
    to access this file.

As an administrator, I though I had permission.  How can I fix it?

I've only logged on as administrator.

Even logged on as administrator, you have not all privileges unless you raise them. This is done to prevent malware to take control of your computer when logged in as an administrator.

What files you try to move?

  • I shared a 2nd HD on home network. When I try to access it from another pc - error do not have permissions

I installed a 2nd hard drive on my desktop running Windows 7 PC.  I shared with disk to 'everyone', and it is visible on the network.  When I try to access this hard drive of my laptop, I get an error - are not allowed to contact the administrator.

I know that Windows 7 have restricted access to the C drive, however, it is a separate drive which I use to store files and backup data.

    What I am doing wrong?

You may need to take possession of your records - see here:
    http://social.answers.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/w7network/thread/24bdf172-2DBC-43b8-995d-a99b6a81413c/

Note also that the statement "Windows 7 has limited access to the C: drive" is incorrect. Under Windows 7 you have restricted access to system folders, regardless of the drive where they reside. Access to non-system files is governed by ownership and permissions, again regardless of the drive.

You can try the following steps in case of problems with web pages:

You can reload webpages and ignore the cache to refresh potentially stale or corrupt.

    • Hold down the SHIFT key and click the Reload button
    • Press 'Ctrl + F5' or 'Ctrl + Shift + R' (Windows, Linux)
    • Press 'Command + shift + R' (Mac)

Clear the cache and delete cookies only from Web sites that cause problems.

    "Clear the Cache":

    • Firefox/tools > Options > advanced > network > content caching Web: 'clear now '.

    'Delete Cookies' sites causing problems:

    • Firefox/tools > Options > privacy > "Use the custom settings for history" > Cookies: "show the Cookies".

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe

    Hello

Some Firefox problems can be solved by performing a clean reinstall. This means that you remove Firefox program files, and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:

Note: You can print these steps or consult them in another browser.

    1. Download the latest version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org office and save the installer to your computer.
    2. Once the download is complete, close all Firefox Windows (click on quit in the file menu or Firefox).
    3. Remove the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
      • Windows:

        • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
        • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox
      • Mac: Delete Firefox in the Applications folder.
      • Linux: If you have installed Firefox with the distribution-based package manager, you must use the same way to uninstall: see Install Firefox on Linux. If you have downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
    4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
      1. Double-click on the downloaded Setup file and go through the steps in the installation wizard.
      2. Once the wizard is completed, click to open Firefox directly after clicking the Finish button.

Please report back to see if this helped you!

    Thank you.

  • The standard weather app on my iphone 6 has stopped working.  It shows just my wallpaper grayed out when I try to access.  The app can be restarted or deleted and reloaded?  If so, how?

The standard weather app on my iphone 6 has stopped working.  It shows just my wallpaper grayed out when I try to access.  The app can be restarted or deleted and reloaded?  If so, how?

No, the soft part of the operating system, so it would mean reload the iOS together. Have you tried a forced reboot yet?

Close all open applications by double-clicking the home button, and then drag to the top of the application window until it disappears from the screen.

Reset your device: press and hold the home button and the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black, and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)
