When I try to import bookmarks from XP, I get a message that Firefox has stopped working. I'm not very computer literate so I don't really know what to do

I want to install Firefox on my desktop. When I try to import my favorites from windows XP Internet Explorer 7, I get a message that says Firefox no longer works. I have limited computer experience, so I don't really know how to approach this problem. I tried the suggestions of help page, IE, reboot with the modules disabled without success. Please help an older person! I used Foxfire successfully on another machine. Thanks Jim

If you have problems with importing IE bookmarks in Firefox, then export favorites in Internet Explorer to a HTML file and import this file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.

Like that you also preserve any sort you did in Internet Explorer with favorites.

  • Export Favorites in Internet Explorer to a file (bookmarks.html) HTML: file > import and export
  • Import the HTML file in Firefox: bookmarks > show all bookmarks > import and backup > import HTML: from a file
