Black screen in Windows Media Center during the TV

When you try to watch tv in Windows Media Center, I get black screen and audio sometimes and sometimes does not. Any fix for it?

TV works on the other program I have and has been workign on MC last week, but now I don't?

Some success with this issue (its OK, but BLACK) video for live/recorded TV

' 1) ' disabled ' tuner card (Ati HD 650 PCIe) TV [via right click] in the Device Manager
    (2) restart Win7 64-bit
    (3) Win7 located & reinstalled the drivers
    (4) VOILA!   Real video and audio live & recorded TV

BTW - before above fix in Device Manager:
Notice anything in his video & Game Controllers
'Properties' reported 'this device is functioning.
"Update drivers" reported "... software driver...»
... and no updates of WMC anywhere in sight

    Go figure!

  • Error: "can't stand running in portrait mode" when you try to access Windows Media Center on secondary monitor.

Title: Media center does not open on the main montitor and closed because school is portrait. How can I fix?

In Windows Vista Media Center opens on my secondary monitor instead of my main monitor. Because the secondary is in portrait mode that Windows Media closes with the message "does not support running in portrait mode. I disabled the secondary and rebooted Media Center which works well, but I don't want to have to turn off my high school whenever I want to get something in the Media Center... always on the second monitor by default. How to run on the main screen, because it won't let me start if both screens are activated. I have to use my secondary back in fashion landscape to move the Media Center to return to the main Setup screen? It's simply ridiculous from the start.

Let me answer your line by line:

    > Description of the question, I understand that you have a problem with Windows Media Center on the secondary screen. Let me know if I'm wrong.

Yes. This is what it says in the title and in the body of the text... was it not QUITE CLEAR.

    > 1) you have made any changes on the computer before this problem?

What does that mean? Who on Earth has a blank computer that has never been touched running on two monitors? Of course, there has been changes? What exactly you want to know?

I find this question to a complete loss of all time and wonder what kind of political support requires that ask you such a question absurd. Please fell free link my feelings on this topic to your agency for my account.

(> 2) which monitor do you have configured as default view? (Primary or secondary)

The primary is the default value. The secondary could be the value by default if I didn't say that Media Center opens on secondary education and not on HAND (Please read this as default, everyone in the world does) monitor.

    > Method 1: I suggest you to change the display in extended mode and check if the problem persists.

The display was already in extended mode.

    > Method 2: if the issue continues, I would also suggest update you the drivers for the secondary monitor and make as primary while the other monitor is disabled then try to turn the screen and check if it helps.

Why update drivers would change anything. It would not be... the problem lies in the reporting to the Media Center of the portrait mode, that has nothing to do with the hardware drivers; they report portrait mode very well, thank you. As for making primary and turning, wondering if there is anything that I could do otherwise than to resort to having to play with the settings of the monitor in the query, and I don't have to make primary of all... just back to the landscape and backward Media Center elementary school. This does not work... but should I have to resort to something which is, more or less, a workaround if the problem lies in the Media Center and not my monitor settings? The answer should be no, and incidentally, Media Center, once started and settled in portrait orientation (in windowed mode, otherwise you couldn't move) works fine, as long as you do not close it while it is still in this mode, because then he will refuse to start for no reason other than the programmer who designed it seems not know beans orientation or multiple monitors. It's funny that although Media Center does not default to the main monitor, it sends the message of demolition to this same screen by default.

To the people looking at the end who will not read everything above... it is what to do:

Back secondary to landscape mode and launch Media Center. Put the Media Center in windowed (not fullscreen) mode and move it will remind the main monitor... it will require a bit of hocus-pocus with the mouse if you cannot put the monitor physically return to the landscape, try it, you'll see. Close Media center so that it restarts next time it opens on the main screen. Reset the secondary back to portrait. VOILA! See you soon. (Please read this as a courtesy and not as applause.)

  • Get the message: this program has been deleted while trying to open Windows Media Center

Original title: I used to have Windows Media Center... But no more?

I'm trying to connect with my XBOX 360, and it said to open Windows Media Center.  I clicked on start, then went to where Windows Media Center has been. I clicked on that and it says "this program has been removed."  Huh!  Is there anyway that I can download the program, or something?  Or is it IN the Windows during the programming?  Info/comments will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

You could try to control Windows Media Center via Control Panel / programs and features / Turn Windows Features on or off / multimedia / Windows Media Center, make sure that it is checked.

System Restore will not uninstall or reinstall your entire operating system, take your machine over time until the selected restore point (you choose) and load Windows from this date and time.  Programs and updates that have been installed since that date and time are no longer available and need to be reinstalled.  System Restore will also leave you a "Undo" restore point which allows you to return to the present before the start of any restoration.  It also gives you an option to check what effect the return to a previous era will have on your program installed, etc..  It does not affect your personal data, applies only the settings, system files, programs, drivers, and updates.

I clicked on "check online for a solution", but nothing came.

I tried to install an earlier version, but was not allowed to do.

How can I solve this problem.

    Hi Nick91606,

KERNELBASE.dll is a file system of the operating system.

    Method 1

I suggest that you save the file on your computer and check if Windows media player works.

    (a) click the Start button.

    (b) in the search box, type command prompt.

    (c) in the list of results, right-click guest, and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    (d) in the type command regsvr32 kernelbase.dll line press ENTER.

    (e) close the command prompt

    Method 2

If the previous step fails then I suggest that scan you SFC on the computer that would be a system file corrupt on the computer search and replace.

The analysis may take some time, so be patient. Windows allows to fix corrupt or missing files it finds. If the information of the installation CD is required to fix the problem, you may be asked to insert your Windows Vista installation CD.

  • When you try to set up my Tv Tuner in Windows Media Center, I get this error message: "TV Setup has encountered a serious problem. Click Finish to exit, and then try again. If this problem persists, restart Windows Media Center or the computer. »

I have a HP m8034n pc with a tuner Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1600 NTSC/ATSC Combo.  The pc came with Vista and Windows media center worked great just with the tv tuner.  I upgraded to Windows 7, December 2 and fail to put in place my tv with WMC tuner.  The recorded shows that I had before the upgrade to Windows 7 appear and play without problem in WMC. I used the hardware diagnostic tool that is installed on my pc to control the Tuner, and during the test, I can see fine TV stations.  This unit is compatible according to microsoft Windows 7. I have the latest driver and tried to uninstall and reinstall. I ran Windows Update and everything is up-to-date. After that WMC checks tuners, it says:

    screen A___
    WMC has discovered the following:
    Analog cable (1 Tuner)

Other tuners or TV signals were detected but will not be configured.
    (Show details)

Is this Setup correct and complete?
o Yes, configure TV with these results
    o no, show more options

When I click on show details, it is said:

    screen B___
    No TV Signal
If a TV signal should be present, check your signal for following tuners connections and try again:
    Hauppauge WinTV 418 BDA Tuner
    ________________
There is another question, because he does not list my correct tv tuner. I click, so I'm now on A screen again.

When I click Yes, set up TV with these results,-(for the analog option Cable(1 tuner), I select my cable service is, and then click Next.) It then displays a confirmation of analog cable and my cable provider, I click Next again and the error message "installation TV met with a serious problem. Click Finish to exit, and then try again. If this problem persists, restart Windows Media Center or the computer. "appears.

I even tried to set up the signal manually and on the confirmation screen, I click Next, and get the exact same error.

I would really appreciate any help and if more details are required, please let me know.  Thank you!

    -Doug

I don't know what happened, I left my PC off overnight and planned reformatting today. But I decided to give him another chance. Instead of saying the tuner was not available. He showed me a static snow image strong, as he was trying to use my Analogue tuner. In fact, it is supposed to use the composite input for my cable box. I re set my TV signals, and now everything works well again. Its strange because I reboot half a dozen times last night and it's never worked. Leaving the PC turned off for the night must have done the trick, I guess.

    Hello

Have you made changes on the computer before this problem?

It seems a problem with missing or damaged system files. I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.
    Method 1:
Let flow the Microsoft Safety Scanner and check if it helps.
    Microsoft security scanner: http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. During these 10 days, it will remove all the files infected by the virus and records. I suggest you create a backup of your data, and then install Microsoft Safety Scanner.

    Method 2:
Run the scan tool (SFC) System File Checker and check if it helps.
How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista: http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

    Method 3:
Try to create a new user account and check if it helps.
    Create a user account: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/Windows-vista/Create-a-user-account
If the problem is resolved in the new user account, this means that the old user profile is damaged. Here is the link to repair a user account damaged: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Fix-a-corrupted-user-profile

  • All the program icons have the same appearance and open Windows Media Center

Original title: cannot start a program
When I click on an any program icon on the Windows 7 Desktop, a window appears with its contents: suggested program to open Windows Media Center. All the programs on the desktop icons have the same appearance.

Using Word 2007 to get an example:

I've seen this happen when opening a program via a shortcut on the desktop (for example. LNK file), you are asked what type of program to open it with. After you select theWord (or another program) via the Select a program from a list of programs installedand checkalways use the selected program to open this type of file, the referenced by the shortcut of origin Word document opens in Word as it should.

The problem is that now all shortcuts (for example. LNK files) on the desktop or in the Explorer will want to be opened by Word and use Word icon to display the shortcut. This is known as a file association and the default icon. The same condition can occur if you have performed these actions on one. JPG or even a. EXE, but the. LNK explanation is much more likely.

This has happened enough that a small utility was written to cancel the. LNK file association was created. There is a registry hack to do this, but I recommend the utility unLNK for its ease of use.
