  Thanks rb11, I realized these things (support page, etc.) and the problem persists.  I could add the image of the first page that turned out to be totally black when printing.  If all goes well, I can attach a jpeg file, illustrating the speed at which the page went to total darkness.

  You may not be able to solve this problem.  Try to scan and see if it does the same thing.  If so, then the scanner lamp is out, and you need a new printer.  If not, I'll see what I can find.

Looking for a screenshot or screenshot @ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ or via Firefox Tools (Alt + T) > Add-ons, the search box at the top right will give you many different choices of different features.   I have a MacBook Air. I use OS x El Capitan V10.11.12. 3 days ago, I installed a printer Epson L355. Everything seemed fine, when I first printed a few pages. I installed the driver delivered with printer and followed the Mac set up. The process has not completely finished the whole upward.   The message failed filter keeps the driver having problems of compatibility with the operating system and not the network connection to the printer. You mentioned with the driver supplied with your printer. This is linked from a previous version of Mac OS X, because sellers do not tend to get the latest drivers on the CD supplied with the printer. And then you install another driver, you can have caused even more conflict. So I would recommend that you delete the printer Printers & Scanners and then using the Finder, select go > go to folder, and then type/Library/Printers/Epson and press the Go button. This will take you to the Epson folder that has all the files in the printer driver. Select all the files and then trash them. Then, restart your Mac and when you are logged in, go to the Epson website and find the L355 printer driver that supports OS X 10.11. Download and install this driver, and then add the printer via Printers & Scanners again. Then see if you can print.

  Do you still have the old toner cartridge. It could be the toner so if you can try another good cartridge. I also have to remove and reinstall the black toner cartridge.

  You will need to pick up another yellow cartridge.  Your printer uses a separate print head.  The print head is what sprays ink on the page.  You must have all of the cartridges installed and complete in order to print.  The 6600 Officejet uses all the same print black and white cartridges.  Without full cartridges print head will become damaged or dry.  There are some printers as the 4500 ENVY and Officejet 4730 using a 2 cartridge system.  These cartridges have integrated print heads.  These printers works in a single mode of cartridge and print black ink only, but your system printer 4 ink will not.

  You've discovered the secret of 'dirty' most inkjet manufacturers have included in their printers.  The printer and the printer driver do not print if one of the cartridges missing or empty.  This is normal, because manufacturers tend to make more money on ink than printers.   In my area, some ink cartridges are more expensive than a new printer.

  I understand that your printer prints in black and white only, even if you can make a color copy.

  According to me, the question is in the print settings itself. Please follow the steps and check mentioned below:

  • Go to control panel - devices and printers - give Envy 4520 right-click and select Printing Preferences.
  • In the pop-up window, click on the 'Advanced' button - check for printing in grayscale option. Make sure it is turned off.
  • Also once you try to print a document please go to properties of the printer to make sure it is not set in the option "print in grayscale".

  If the steps above has not resolved the problem, it could be a problem with the printer drivers. In this case, we might need to uninstall the drivers and re - install the same. You can visit http://hp.care/2bYZled to download the drivers.

  The semi Full Reset is a complete programming on your printer reset. It resets everything on your printer, not only the wireless. Unfortunately, this reset is our last resort. Because the issue is still produced the last step would be the printer to service.
