Where is the temporary folder?

I'm new to computers and new for Windows 7.  When I download a program it says it is downloaded in a temporary folder.  Is this folder somewhere in our Galaxy?  Is there a way I can configure things so I don't know exactly what path to follow to find downloads?

Hi Daniel2816,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers Community Forum site!

The path of the Temp folder will normally be

\AppData\Local\Temp C:\Users\

In order to locate the temporary folder in windows 7, follow the steps below:

  1. Click Start, in the search box, type CMD.
  2. Right click on CMD and select run as administrator.
  3. In the command line type ECHO %Temp%.

It allows to display the full path of the real temp folder and you can follow the path and identify its location to copy the full path and pasting in order run or in the search options.

I hope this helps!

Thank you best regards &,.

  • Where is the "Settings" folder on my computer.

Original title: setting tab is gone

I'm unable to locate the "Settings" folder on my computer.  I tried to use the Microsoft help site and have not been able to access many of the records, files or programs that help asked me to try.  all the avenues I try results in a "Control Panel: c: Windows / System 32/rundll32.exe - application not found" error message.  I had a phone support from Microsoft and we tried "System Restore" but we have been cut off.  The apparent virus that I had seemed to disappear, but we recently noticed that another issue that may have been active for some time.  Help is very appreciated.

I downloaded a copy of the file on my SkyDrive (everyone has a SkyDrive for file sharing).

You can download it and when you do, place a copy of the file in these two folders (assuming that Windows is installed on your C drive):

    c:\Windows\System32
c:\Windows\System32\dllcache (this is where XP keeps backups of important files).

Here is the link to the file:

    http://CID-6a7e789cab1d6f39.SkyDrive.live.com/redir.aspx?RESID=6A7E789CAB1D6F39! 311

When you see the files available for download, you will not see the file extension (.exe, .dll, etc.), but when download you them they will have the right extension.

You have to put the downloaded files in the correct folders on your system.

That may not solve all your problems, but at least you will be spending this part and we can then fix the rest.

Given that you had or have an infection, followed with this:
Perform scans for malware, and then fix any problems:
Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:
    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
They can be uninstalled later if you wish.

When I delete some tepmporary double folder then Citi are automatically craeated

    Hello

    (1) how you try to delete the temporary files?

Some programs create temporary executing files, if you try to delete the temporary files with the programs (and browser) running in the background, this problem may occur.

Method 1: Quit all programs, and then try to delete temporary files, check if it makes a difference.

Method 2: You can run Disk Cleanup and checking if that makes a difference, follow the steps mentioned in the link below to run Disk Cleanup
    Delete files using disk cleanup

Method 3: Start the computer in safe mode and then try to delete the files. To do this, follow the steps below:

Access Advanced Startup menu options by turning on your computer and pressing the button F8 continuously until Windows starts. In the boot advanced options, select Mode safe
    Startup options (including safe mode)

This can be an activity of the virus

  • Need to know where in the system folder of Windows Vista, I can access the printer for a shared printer drivers .inf files

I have a printer that is attached to my system down Dell Windows XP, I want to access the floor running Windows Vista from my Sony system.  I managed networked the printer so I can see it in my Sony Windows Vista network folder.  However, when I try to access it, it gives me the following error msg:

The server to the printer 'HP Photosmart 1215 series' doesn't have the installed printer driver.  If you want to find the right driver, click OK

Otherwise, click Cancel and contact your network administrator or the original equipment for the printer driver manuafacturer.

I advanced and clicked on "OK". and the system brings up a box for me to find the correct INF file to load.  I went ahead and tried the DRIVERS/WINDOWS/INF and a few other places, but has failed to find (any) of printer drivers

Can someone tell me where I can get these?

Download the appropriate driver from the printer manufacturer's web site.  If it contains a Setup program, run the program and when it asks you to specify the printer installation, create a local printer whose name is \\xpsystem\printer where 'xpsystem' is the charing system printer and "printer" is the name of the share.  This should create the printer.

You can also expand the downloaded driver and try to add the printer as you did before, direct the installation to the folder containing the driver that you downloaded.

  • BlackBerry 10 when the update fails, where are the temporary files?

    Hello

My phone was about 1 GB of available and did an automatic download of the 10.3.2. When I tried installing it says that I need an additional 480 megs. I tried to use the link to date, and it failed (with a msg saying that the update has been interrupted). Then, I deleted about 1 GB of data and tried again. Always has failed, but now I find myself with only 300 megs free.

It seems that the update has eaten to the top of my storage somewhere, probably with temporary files, but I can't find them. Where can I look to see where these files are located so that they can be removed? Control of the storage of the device shows nothing out of the ordinary.

    Hello

They are not in an accessible area of the user. Indeed, given the penalty, I actually recommend that go you to an auto-loader in order to avoid any corruption that chess can be introduced. I hope that you already have a backup.

    Good luck!

  • Away from the temporary folder content

What seems to be two different Temp folders; We type in folder in the search bar of the menu then clicking on the icon, then another using a shortcut created for C:\user\me\AppData\Local\Temp

The content is drastically different depending on how I get there.  The paths are the same.

What is the meaning of this?

    Thank you.

    Open a prompt, type command:

    echo folder

Press ENTER, and then copy the results here.

Right click on the shortcut created and see the properties and copy the path to paste the results here.

This will verify that the paths are the same.

  • I deleted from the temporary folder and now my microphone and camera do not work, the audio and the video hangs when activated

C:\Users\John\AppData\Local\Temp and emptied, had like 20 GB of misc * in there, when I deleted it no error came, nothing has been locked. then when I didn't try to use my webcam (creative Webcam live pro v280) the audio and the video freezes as if taken in too much data to be processed during recording, and when I try to speak, it comes out as a big sound introduction text that's noise and videos recorded is accelerated as a 10 x. I bought a new webcam installed and everything went well, and exactly the same thing happened. (microsoft livecam this time) no sound. Anyone have any ideas?

    Hi Johnny,.

Perform the System Restore to an earlier date and check if it helps.

    System restore

System Restore can return programs and system files from your PC to a time when everything was working well. This will not affect your documents, images or other data.

    Hope this information helps.
