where the "photo viewer"? and windows fax

I am trying to located 'windows picture and fax viewer' to remove the unwanted images. Isn't anyoneknow how to access this function so I can remove?

I guess that your problem is that you want to view the files before deleting them.

You can use free IrfanView.  It is much more powerful and versatile than Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.

The reason why you can't find WP & FV is because it is in a file named dll enigmatic.  The following is courtesy of MS - MVP volunteer J (and assume you are using Windows XP):

********************************************************************************
Try the following:

Reach... Start / run... and type
(or copy and paste):

regsvr32 /i shimgvw.dll

(Yes, the space after the 2 and the)
After the i is necessary)

Press on... Come in...

You should see a dialog box stating:
DllRegisterServer and DllInstall in successful shimgvw.dll

Now... the following command should launch a blank Windows
The screen image and Fax Viewer. He will say: no preview available.

Rundll32.exe c:\windows\system32\shimgvw.dll,ImageView_Fullscreen

Now set WP & FV as your default viewer, and you should be ready to see the photos.

Open a folder and click right right click a picture...

In the menu... Choose... Properties / change button...

Select Windows Photo And Fax Viewer, and then click on... OK / apply / OK.

Let us know the exact result.

  • How to change the brightness, contrast, and color in the photo viewer in Windows 7?

Change the brightness, contrast, and color in the photo viewer in win 7?

How to change the brightness, contrast and color in the windows photo viewer 7 (I used the fix option in xp and vista)
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi epse30,

In Windows Vista Windows Picture and Fax Viewer has been replaced by the Windows Photo Gallery and there was an option to set the brightness, contrast, etc by using the Fix as you said.

Unfortunately, this option is not available with the Windows Photo Viewer in Windows 7.

    However, Windows Live Photo Gallery has a number of easy to use tools for things like red eye fixing or clearing exposure and low light situations. Windows Live Photo Gallery gives you more creative control over your photos. You can download Windows Live Photo Gallery for free from the link below;

  • Windows 7 will not be printed with the photo viewer and Picture Manager.

Everytime I open an image file with Windows or Office Picture Manager Photo Viewer and try to print, I get 4 message boxes that said "your photos cannot be printed because this error occurred.

There is nothing else that a button OK - not even one error code.

The strange this is I can print almost anything with any other program very well. Firefox, Photoshop, all those print without problem. It's only the viewer Photo and Picture Manager that do this.

The printer is an Epson RX595 with 64-bit drivers.

My Office Picture Manager calls a dialog box that has a dropbox to define the printer. If you create an image of a document (*.mdi) you know it's the printer driver that has a problem.

  • Want to get an overview with the photo viewer and open with Photoshop

Hello.  In all previous versions of Windows, I was able to do.  Right-click on an image and the 'Preview' option would open the image in the Windows Photo Viewer, and the option 'Open' it would open in Photoshop (or whatever the editor, I had chosen).  I just installed Windows 7 and I seem to be unable to get to do this.  If I select "Photo Viewer" as the default program for jpg files, I have TWO options 'Preview' in the right click menu.  Both will open it in Photo Viewer.  If I select Photoshop as the default program for jpg files, I get a 'Preview' and 'Open' option, but both open the image in Photoshop.

How can I configure "Preview" with Photo Viewer, and 'open' with Photoshop?

Thanks for the tips of registry.  I managed to find and fix the problem.  I tried to fix paint.net as the program open by default, and it has open in paint.net and presented in preview in Photo Viewer.  So I thought it was something to go astray with Photoshop.  Under HKEY_Classes_Root\Photoshop.JPEGFile.9\shell, there is a key-file for 'Preview '.  I deleted who, and now it opens in photoshop and previews in Photo Viewer.

  • All icons on the desktop have turned to photo viewer and cannot open these programs

I recently had my computer up to date. Everything was fine until I put my memory stick in the laptop and tried to download my back upwards. Now, when I turn the laptop on the icons does not load and are all stuck in photo viewer and I cannot open programs at all. Can anyone help please, thank you

Original title: icons on the desktop

I'm not 100% sure but I think that you are having a bad "file extension association. This is where the default program to open a file is incorrect. In the case of your office, these are all shortcuts (for example. LNK files) and the. LNK Association was by mistake coupled with Photo Viewer.

I've seen this happen when opening a program via a shortcut (for example. LNK file), you are asked what type of program to open it with. After you have selected the photo viewer (or another program) via the Select a program from a list of programs installedand check always use the selected program to open this type of file (circled in red below), the document or program referenced by the shortcut of origin opens in the Photo Viewer as it should.

The problem is that now all shortcuts (for example. LNK files) on the desktop or in the Explorer will want to be opened by the photo viewer and often use the icon Photo Viewer to display the shortcut no matter what shortcut was originally intentioned to open. This is known as a file association and the default icon. The same condition can occur if you have performed these actions 'Open with' on one. JPG or even a. EXE, but the. LNK explanation is much more likely for the items on the desktop.

The good news is that a small free utility was written to cancel the. LNK file association was created. There is also a registry hack to achieve, but I recommend the utility unASSOC for its ease of use.

You can get a copy of my OneDrive here. I used to send people elsewhere to download a copy, but this page is more in addition to confusion with misleading ads to download this and this computer of powders of snake oil "fixed".

Just download, then use the utility to unassociate the. LNK files for the user or globally delete the file type and let windows rebuild a new default.

I use a laptop with a trackpad awkward so I prefer Windows to navigate by keyboard shortcuts.

Currently in order to start a slide show in the folder I just opened, I have to press F6, F6, right arrow right arrow, enter to start a slide show from the "slide show" button in the Solution Explorer, or otherwise use the arrow and enter keys (to open a file in the Photo Viewer), and then press F11.

PLEEASE can you tell me there is a faster way to do this?

I bought a new PC from Hewlett-Packard, and they included HP photo rather than the Windows Photo Viewer Viewer. The HP software has all of the features that the Windows Photo Viewer, and I would like to download and install the Windows Photo Viewer. A similar question on the forum gives an answer without report pointing to the download of the Windows Live Gallery, that is not the Windows Photo Viewer.

If you have Windows 7, you already have the photo viewer.
As a part of Win 7, I doubt that it is available separately for

  • CR2 files not visible as thumbnails in the Picture Viewer or Windows Photo Gallery.

I was using an Acer laptop for a long time, and I was transferring files from my Canon T3i CR2.  I was able to view these files as thumbnails.  I recently bought a new computer, an HP Z220.  For some reason after that I have transfer files to the Z220, I am unable to see these pictures as thumbnails, which is very annoying when I know there is a special move, I want to watch.  Without a thumbnail, I have to open each file in the Canon software, which can be quite tedious.  How can I fix?  Is there a file on the old computer, which was developed without the knowledge of me, perhaps by default, but is setting a different setting now on the HP?  Two computers use Windows 7.  Has anyone else had this problem?

I wanted to come back here and to answer my own question, as I found the solution in a very short time. I went on Canon's site and downloaded a codec RAW update.  After installation, I was able to view CR2 (RAW) files on the newer computer.  I found the update through various research, after that I reduced the problem of the relationship between Canon's Digital Photo Professional and Windows Photo Gallery.  Maybe when I was using the Acer laptop, I had already downloaded the drivers updated to the DPP and he did not know or just do not do.  I do not know.  The thing is, while searching for an answer to this question, I found others have had the same problem and need a solution.  The short answer: you need to update the codec for Canon Digital Photo Professional RAW.  Here is a link to the download.

Got a solution - not ideal because I don't always know what's going on or why...

So - I just encountered the same problem on my first import since the update.  I have a default to apply the average contrast curve to import.

Fast/temp fix: in library view, select all the pictures, and then change the preset saved 'default' or 'zero '. or to expand the view, select the same default or reset.  Then change back to the average contrast curve... Might work for any option that you select, but that's what I used.
