Where to buy Windows XP Pro

We bought a new PC for our work, only to find the programs that we use are not and not anytime soon, it will work with Windows 7.  I need to get a legal copy of Windows XP pro with the COA work.  Where can I do that.  EBay kind of scares me, not that I won't get it there, looking for options!  Thank you

The best way to install Windows XP on a computer that is running Windows 7 is to download and install Windows XP Mode.  If the computer runs Windows 7 Home Premium, you will need to purchase a Windows Anytime Upgrade.  See also:How to perform a Windows Anytime Upgrade. Carey Frisch

Everyone selling product keys of Windows 7 without the DVD [s] is a crook *.  Microsoft never gave anyone permission to sell the product on their own keys.

Microsoft don't sell Windows 7 at all [they stopped several years ago].

    The upgrade to Windows XP?

Please read these instructions carefully and completely before you begin installing Windows 7: there are important steps that you must follow to upgrade your PC from Windows XP to Windows 7 in order to preserve your files and settings.

Before you begin, you'll need to backup all your data to an external storage device, and you will need all the installation discs for the programs that you want to keep. Please make sure that you have an external hard drive (see details below).

More detailed instructions are available at windows.microsoft.com/upgrade-windows-xp. Here are the basic steps.

    1. start Windows Upgrade Advisor (windows.microsoft.com/upgradeadvisor) to see if there are known issues that may affect the installation and the question of whether you should install the version of 32 or 64 bit Windows 7.

2 back up your files and settings on an external hard drive using Windows Easy Transfer (windows.microsoft.com/windows-easy-transfer). If you do not have an external hard drive, you will not be able to use Windows Easy Transfer. Alternatively, you can copy the files you want to keep on a USB stick, CD or DVD.

    3. you will need to manually reinstall your programs, such as Microsoft Office, after I installed Windows 7. Gather the installation for your programs and all partner/license product key discs. You may be able to download programs from the Internet. For example, Windows Live Messenger can be installed from the download.live.com/messenger.

    4. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in your PC. When asked "which type of installation you want. Click on "Custom (advanced)."

    5. when Windows 7 is installed, use Windows Easy Transfer to restore your files and settings.

If you are not comfortable Windows 7 installation, check with a local retail or the services of the PC company store to see if they offer upgrade services.

  • What happens to my drivers when I switch to Windows 8 Pro Windows Vista professional?

Hi, I wanted to know that I can buy Windows 8 Pro for my Sony Vaio (TT11LN/B). The Sony site does not support this model, but they provide drivers for Windows XP, Vista and 7, but not Windows 8. So I thought that if I install Windows 8 on my laptop, my drivers remain who were on Vista Business or will they will be deleted.  Thank you very much!

    Hello

Sony do not have drivers for Windows 8 or supporting Windows 8 for your model is a major problem for you.

You need the Windows 8 drivers for your Sony equipment works correctly with Windows 8.

Also you would normally follow these steps before you buy Windows 8:

Download and run the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant of to see if your machine is compatible Windows 8:

    "System requirements" Windows 8 ".

  • Install Windows 7 Pro key on Windows 7 Home Premium

Building a new computer, buy Windows 7 Pro OEM. The user has previous computer that is running Windows 7 Home Premium OEM.

The user does not want to have to reinstall all the programs previously, the installation program, then we go to existing Windows 7 sysprep/image. This triggers the wake on the new machine. We have a new OEM license for the new machine, but it's for the Pro instead of HP. Is there a way to fix this?

Make your Windows 7 HP image restore, then test it.  Then go to Pro.

Assuming your sysprep image / & your imaging utility can face the task to restore on the new hardware & Windows 7 this is why works correctly on the TI *, your level then activation using the Pro product key {see the procedure below published by André} should allow all components to Windows 7 Pro.

[* I urge you to register running Windows update to your original HP-system test so that you can enter activation Pro stage knowing that this critical element is fully functional.]

When you test after activation Pro can't find any problems, but if you do, they might well be fixed by running a repair [aka InPlace upgrade] install using your Pro installation CD.

  • Questions before you buy Windows 7 Ultimate

I am deciding on the purchase of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on Microsoft.com.  But I have questions before purchasing the product.

    1. I want to download the full version of Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate, and I want to know is this Windows 7 with or without SP1?  If SP1 is included, so where to buy Windows 7 without SP1?
    2. Is this the version OEM or retail?

Question 1. Windows 7 Ultimate purchased from the Microsoft Store includes Service Pack 1.

If you need Windows 7 Ultimate without SP1, you can download it from the following link:

    32-bit Windows 7 Ultimate x 86 ISO

    Amazon.com: http://174.129.85.117/data/Windows7Ultimate32bit.iso

    64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate x 64 ISO

    Amazon.com: http://174.129.85.117/data/Windows7Ultimate64bit.iso

Question 2: Her or the product key determines whether it is a retail or an OEM license. So if you use a retail key, then it will be in the detail.

  • Windows 8 pro upgrade - question about relocation

I am running Windows 8 (Standard Edition) - it came preinstalled on my computer, and thus the product key is stored on my BIOS.

I would like to be running Windows 8 Pro. However before I have to spend $200, I want to know exactly how the upgrade system - the rest of the internet is very clear on that. I have the following questions:

    (1) if I buy an upgrade Windows 8 Pro on the Microsoft Store (search > add features > purchase online product key), and then later I want to do a clean reinstall Windows pro 8, if I can install Windows 8 Pro or what I need to install Windows 8 and then go again?

    (2) if I have to upgrade again can I use the option 'I already have a product key' in 'Add features' and use the product key that I bought?

    (3) if I go out to a retailer and buy Windows 8 Pro and do a clean install, it will install in Windows 8 Pro or I have to use "add features"? If I have to use 'Add features', will be the product key that comes with my Windows 8 Pro that I bought work detailing if I select "I already have a product key?

    (4) if I want to upgrade to Windows Pro 8.1 in what order should I upgrade? Is - this Windows 8 > Windows 8 Pro > Windows 8.1 Pro or Windows 8 > 8.1 Windows > Windows Pro 8.1? (Please do not link me to the FAQ section, I've been there and that you can't find the answer. If you wish to make a reply in this section it otherwise I'll have to ask you to clarify rephrase please.)

    (5) is there a way I can save windows 8.1/Windows 8.1 Pro upgrade files so that I don't have to download again if I clean install my OS? If so, how do I.

    1. You need to install Windows 8 and upgrade to Pro again.
    2. Yes, you can of course. This code will work for you for ever. Just keep it somewhere safe (I keep all my OneNote product keys, but you can also store them as text files OneDrive or another course).
    3. The complete packaging product key will work as well.
    4. You cannot jump directly from Windows 8 > Windows Pro 8.1.  You would have either A) download the 8.1 update before you type the key Pro 8.1 or B) to obtain a Pro 8.0 and use it, then go to 8.1.
    5. There is really no files actually.  Each version of Windows has everything, the code is that it unlocks for use.  What is new, starting with Vista, this is why the "features add to Windows ' (formerly 'AnyTime Upgrade' is here.

But you could always take your computer, update / update to 8.1 Pro you have, then do a system image backup, so you can always go to immediately exactly hassle-free.  Bonus, this backup can even include all of your installed programs, settings and customization.
