• where to start with loging in an application

  Hello. Creating a safe space for a BB app being created using SDK5. Very simple with just a user name and the password required. At the login screen and the other screen. Don't check as empty fields etc. But I don't know where to start with the actual coding. More precisely:

  1. where should I store the username and password - what is best practice? Is - XML, databases, persistent storage file?

  2. in what format should I keep it should for example the details be encrypted plain text etc?

  3 - How can I verify that the information entered is asme as whats been stored?

  4 - How can I signout so that details must be entered again again?

  1 I store small amounts of data in the persistent store, it is the easiest way.

  2 feel free to encrypt, but unless someone knows the key to your persistent store only you can read. If you use a custom object, another application will not be able to open it, but usually I decide by the desire to have data survive an update (custom objects are removed on uninstallation)

• Where to start with Web Services

  We run an ESXi 5 environment with a server for vSphere and are eager to develop a system to be able to create virtual machines.

  I came across the site of the developers of VMware and was very happy to find the vSphere Web Services SDK and wanted to know where to start?

  Y at - it software or settings that must be enabled on the vSphere server or ESXi hosts to allow the use of the SDK?  I downloaded the SDK and trying to connect and have had no success yet, and here the possibility that something is not missing on the server.

  Will there be sites level introduction, articles or tutorials on how to start using the SDK?

  I'd appreciate any help that anyone can provide.

  The configuration guide for developers gives you all the steps to configure your system, and how to compile the examples. I suggest you review this first and get to the point where you can run the basic example of program that connects to the ESXi host and gets a few values.

  The configuration guide for developers is divided into separate sections for Java and c#. I'm using c# and the guide was in all on-site.

  The following document to read is the vSphere Web Services SDK Programming Guide - it will help you understand all of the concepts you need for programming with the SDK. The information is presented in a generic way, but samples lean towards Java. But not to worry because the SDK c# samples are many and it is easy to cross things between the Programming Guide and a reference sampling program. This guide is very large ~ 250 pages, but you don't need to read all this, chapters 2 to 5 are what I'm focused on - they are the absolute must know things for relying on web services SDK. What follows I'd say depends on what you need to do with the SDK. A very useful reference when reading the chapters 2 to 5 is the managed object (MOB) on your ESXi host browser. It is accessible at https://your-host-url/mob. You can search the managed objects and explore their hierarchy here.

  Once you understand, I dare say that you are able to start your own program with the help of the API reference of course. In fact you may have already tried poking around with a few lines of code by reading the guide just because it is useful to understand the concepts by testing them with code.

  Also nothing should be done on the server to start to use web services SDK.

• Where to start with recovery after disaster

  We start making a disaster recovery plan for the data center.  We have a small failry installation using vSphere 4.1 Enterprise with 6 hosts (blades) and about 30 vms, Windows, Linux, and Netware running on an IBM BladeCenter S.  The BladeCenter S shared storage in the chassis, and we also have a storage DS3300 iSCSI array.  In the event that something happens to this building we want to be able to bring our most important vms (~ 12 of them, the others will be restored from backup but not immediately) upwards to another place which is connected to this construction over a fiber of 1 GB connection.  We do not necessarily expect to provide the same level of service, just that our basic services are available.

  I understand this is a major project that can be answered in a forum, but I don't know where to start, if someone could point me in the right direction or give me some ideas, I would be happy.

  You need to take a look at the Site Recovery Manager. SRM is unfortunately not the whole solution, you also need the level of the SAN for this replication.

  If you storage does not support it or it's too expensive - you have the option to upgrade to vSphere 5 and use the replication host + RS.

  Can I inherit a site built in British Colombia. I see a page dedicated to the free online training, but none expected. What is abandoned? The site owner wants to add something simple in the drop down menu, but the admin interface I find on the support pages for styling the menu looked different from his own. I don't know even how to check its version. As you can see, I don't know where to start. Please guide me through. • Where to start with "composite component?

  Hello world.  I'm having a hard time to understand how to create a composite base component.  There is an online help on this, but for some reason, I just can't follow it.  Honestly, I'm not trying to find someone here to do my job for me, but I hope that if a very simplified version of what I need to do, has described that someone could show me how do through code.

  Here's what I'm looking mainly to (generate a control that is a combobox with a button on the side of it):

  Do something like above is pretty easy.  But what I really need, is for the control of the root must be a combobox so that all of the properties and events for the combobox control are available to its owner without having to re-do/proxy of them myself.

  I see the doc I need an ACE of the class and must override updateDisplayList, createChildren(), etc..  But for some reason I can't understand the doc to do something even this simple enough.  I think that if someone showed me how to make this example, it would be a good starting point for me to go back to the doc and I hope it'll make more sense!

  I think the op is loking for an example of composition that begins with the extension of some components like ComboBox and then adds another control.  the advantage of this is that the new control can be treated as a ComboBox with all its features.  Here is an example.  You have to find your own image to use for the button, or replace it with a normal button.

• Understanding "CONNECT BY" and "START WITH".

  OK, I'm trying to update the rows with values determined by lines joined in a recursive relationship of unknown depth. I am told that "CONNECT BY" and "START WITH" can be useful in this, but I don't see how to get the value I'm looking for.
  
  In my case, there are 3 values in my table.
  ID
  ID of the parent
  Invoice
  
  On some lines, the Bill is null. For records, you get the ID of the invoice by searching for the invoice of the parent folder. I'm trying to update the table so that all THE rows in the table have an ID of invoice.
  
  Here is an example of table and the lines.

  Thank you post the CREATE TABLE and INSERT instructions, but please make sure that they work.
  None of the INSERT statements; I think you meant something like the statements shown after the query.

  Here's a way to get the desired results:

  This statement is Bottom-Up of subqueries, where we START WITH the lines that need to update, and process to the top of the tree, until you get to an ancestor who was an inv_num.
  In your sample data, only the roots (the lines that have no parents) have inv_num. In this case, it might be a little easier (but only a little) to make a request from top to bottom , where we START WITH the roots and low process in the tree to find their subordinates.
  If we add some data examples where a nonroot has inv_num:

• Firefox Will not start with the home page. Continues to set up where I left off whenever I start firefox

  Firefox keeps opeing where I left instead to start with my home page. I use the latest firefox with windows8. Dosen't happen with windows7. This has happened with the last update.

  Replacing the pref.js didn't fix the problem, I just do a default reset firefox and that solved the problem.

  Sounds like malware. You can check your history on which you downloaded Thunderbird to? It is possible that it was a non-official package where Thunderbird was delivered with unwanted options.

  For Firefox on Mac, I suggest starting with your add-ons page. Either:

  • CMD + SHIFT + a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

  In the left column, click on Plugins. Set essential and unrecognized plugins 'never enable '.

  In the left column, click Extensions. Then, in case of doubt, disable (or delete, if possible) not recognized and unwanted extensions. All extensions are optional; none come with Firefox.

  Often, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.

• SOLVED: Why don't Satellite 4090XCDT does not start with DVD-R/W drive?

  as I said in the other thread that has already been closed, I bought a used Satellite phone who would not start of 3rd party DVD - RW (Quanta Storage SDW-042) included, even if Windows couldn't read well enough.

  I found out why, starting with the help of the user answers in the other thread.

  In the user manual, there is a description in the capitel on the configuration of the system about tconfig, which proved to be a valuable indication: HDD = Primary IDE (1F0H/IRQ14) (...), CD = secondary IDE (170 H/IRQ15). Compared to my desktop, it seems to me that two readers need to be masters on no. 1 and no. 2 cable, not as master and slave on the same cable from HARD drive. So, my CD-ROM would probably be master.
  Then I did the research further into the issue and found out, that there is no CD-ROM where select things cable if they are master or slave. Then I found in
  http://www.dschen.de/laptop_brenner/ a note in his Toshiba Satellite Pro 4290, seemed to be no Cable Select and his planned book on the CD (or DVD player, he wants to use) as a master.
  CSEL means that 47 Pin is connected to the Earth, which he did by applying a drop of Tin from Pin 47 to 49, pine, which is also Pin 47. I tried the same thing and disassembled the DVD drive that was in my notebook. (My record to disassemble my laptop and all editing again properly is now gone in 50 minutes). And know what, my Satellite 4090XCDT can now boot from the DVD-RW!

  To perform the task, I needed a screwdriver of the watchmaker to open the DVD RW (three live, then you need to insert a PIN to open the tray and see the back), a 12 Volt type iron pin solder for SMD and I ordered the strap of welding with a stereo microscope, so this task is not negligible. See the link mentioned to know what pins are bridged (sorry, the website is in German but the picture is clear: in the top row of pines, only you can see, the 2nd and the third from the right). And of course with a replacement part "scrap", you could give your laptop a second life, but you run a risk, because you may not know what you have, master or slave (for firmware or hardware), broken in any case, select cable - and one other Web site indicates that they looked up to 17 variants of firmware in exactly the same drive , depending on what laptop, it was intended for use.

  I've been led to believe that it supports 4 GB of RAM but does not start with 4 GB, freezes at the toshiba logo.
  Also have A100 running new 4 GB RAM works very well in this machine. Have updated BIOS did not help.

  Any advice?

  According to THIS specification that your laptop can be upgraded up to 4 GB of RAM.

  Downstairs you can also find the part number of the compatible RAM. List of the memory modules are tested and working with your laptop.

  I'm on a Toshiba Satellite L300 Windows Vista,
  I recently had my browser (Google Chrome) freeze so that the page that I was on was using Java.
  I went to reset, but once Vista began to start it would not go beyond the loading bar.
  Then, I went to boot from a drive to install Vista and met the same problem.

  I tried to start with the controller Mode SATA changed compatibility.
  This allowed the Vista disc load up successfully but did not allow for options but command prompt and from the Startup Repair.
  I ran Startup Repair twice and that Vista would load to the top of the loading bar then reset and loop this model.
  I don't know where to go from here, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

  Perhaps, your laptop is infected with the virus, and you cannot load windows. You can search and find a software like Kaspersky Anti-virus 8.0.0.506 Emergency Bootable CD and search for viruses. I wonder why you could not start Vista drive in AHCI Sata Controller Mode, I know the sata drivers are already integrated into Vista.

  Run "bootsect/nt60 ALL" into the command prompt, and then press ENTER. Wait and eject the Vista disc, reboot. Hope, it helps to have you tried to install from hard drive recovery image?

• Mode 'P' - where to start

  There are so many options available on this device which is overwhelming which is the reason why I'm going with AUTO for so long on my cameras.

  However, in order to learn to use my camera better, I decided to start with the programming mode. The list of options is daunting, so I thought from one comfortable with it.

  For example, if I work on the ISO or F stop or... where should I start? It's just the practice to get an idea of what the camera can do for me. I want to be able to look at an object like a Mexican Bird of Paradise flower and know pretty quickly that as ISO or what the configuration should be based on available lighting, etc..

  Not sure if I expressed right. I know I think about several different things for each photo. Let me just start with one.

  In my opinion, is the P mode as the Auto mode... you don't really that much... Mode P allows you to change things to better suit your situation but it's complicated.

  You're better off using Av mode or mode Tv to begin with.  Well start with the Av mode first.  You can either do this with Auto ISO or ISO manual.  The most important thing is that you understand the relationship between the triangle of photography - Av, Tv and ISO.  You should also understand how to use exposure compensation to take account of unit measure the limits (must average so if the background is too dark, makes the faces looks too bright and vice versa, makes the face look too dark when the background is too bright).   Once you are comfortable with these two modes, you can switch to manual mode.  You will find that it is easier than you might think.

  You can search youtube for a multitude of excellent videos discussing the triangle - even I have a couple of videos... you can search for diverhank or Hien Tongho (mine is pretty boring).

  It depends on the camera models, but I think most will show on the LCD display exactly what it will look like in the final image.  Then, even when you're in full manual mode (M), you will be able to see the effects of changes in the 3 factors Av, Tv and ISO and that makes it easier to use than some other modes (with the exception of the depth of field - the display is not make it even).  You should spend an hour with all manual and learn how to change the 3 factors... you'll be surprised how easy and efficient it is it uses the M mode.

  My HP laptop screen is broken, so I need to use an external monitor. Unfortunately, the screen not active really up to what I'm going to connect to the page into account. This means that if I want to access bios, upgrade to a new operating system, or to do other things, I'm completely blind.

  Is it possible that I can get the operating system to start with my external monitor.

  Please note: I have a strong experience of PC and I'm decent to things like the change of systems. So feel free to suggest something dangerous or risky.

  Unfortunately, what you want to do is not possible.  The system should be launched before the second monitor is enabled (and you can't have the main monitor an external monitor on a laptop).  If you want to see what you do with stains where the disk hard operating system is not in use, you have no other choice than to repair your laptop screen (it does not cost much more and if you get only one monitor (and not the entire upper eyelid) you can replace exactly that and it shouldn't cost as much as a whole new lid (assuming it's the monitor that is the problem and not) (not something in the lid) anywhere near).  I did myself on my Dell and it wasn't easy by any means and I had to use tiny tools, I had not used in years (and if ever I need to do it again, I could just let a technician computer repair or Dell even myself worth) - but it can be done.

  There is no way to say BIOS (or something else) to use the external monitor as primary monitor - the controls are not there, and even if they were, the connections would be not activated by the system (and you cannot do it from the BiOS unless / until the system works).  You might be able to do the main monitor once the system is working, but not until then.  I appreciate your computer experience and a willingness to try something dangerous or risky, but it is not a question of who - it is just possible iisn can't with any Windows OS I know and probably other software of OS as well (and I'm not sure I would even suggest something dangerous - perhaps risky - even if I knew it would work because I'm tryng to help solve the problems and not cause) new or worse those).

  I would just bite the bullet and contact HP and get the laptopr fixed or at least get the part and try to do it yourself (a bit risky, difficult, time consuming and who need very small tools to accomplish if this can be done on a HP as it did on my Dell - you need HP technical support or parts if it is possible and that the difference in cost to ensure that it is possible) and useful effort).

  I'm sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear, but it's like that.
