Which option of DELL PERC 6 / i firmware should I download?

We simply have to upgrade one of our hosts ESX 3.5 U5 vSphere 4.0 (running on a DELL PowerEdge 2950 server).  Then we install OpenManage 6.1 on it.

OpenManage, we see the PERC 6 / I have firmware must be updated - 6.1.1 - 0047 current version firmware is older than the 6.2.0 - 0012 version firmware required for a model 0x1F0C controller: controller 0 (PERC 6 / i integrated)

At DELL, we find that there are a number of download options.

(1) we would like to know which one should we use - DELL_PERC-6-I - INTEGRATED_A11_R216024.exe or RAID_FRMW_LX_R216024. BIN

(2) require a floppy drive as we do not have on this server?

(3) is there any requirement to install firmware - as: enter the Maintenance Mode... etc.

Thank you

You need the RAID_FRMW_LX_R216024. BIN file, just run in the service console, no need floppy. It is certainly a good idea to put the host in maintenance mode and to reboot the host after you apply the firmware.

Windows 8.1 was delivered with the version of the downloadable 6.801.5.0 driver from Dell, I also tried and committed in my opinion the FW even hanging the question.

I'm afraid - anyone know what is happening?

    See you soon

    Chris

Appearantly this is related to the latest driver from Dell. I've found a workaround, but it's a bit complicated:

1 connect a USB stick which is big enough

    2. install Wndows 8.1 on the * USB drive *.

    3. start Windows, and then remove the current driver and install the previous driver for Windows Server 2012.

    4. use the 3rd party software (say that Ghost) to copy the windows from USB drive to VD on Dell PERC H710P controller.

    5. start Windows in the USB drive again and use 'bcdedit' to clean boot stuff

in any case, I'm LSI 9361-8i, so it won't be a problem for me in the future...

my laptop keeps going to the start page. I have not a cd ROM is there another way to solve this problem. Thank you people

Thank you for taking the time to make this post very informative, excellent. Without the machine test myself that I can't be sure, but based on the age of the computer and what you wrote I suspect for lack of material. It could be something simple like the hard drive or RAM or something more serious like the motherboard. I wouldn't recommend replacing any material on such an old laptop.

As long as the hard disk has been physically, you can recover your data easily. If the hard drive has failed, then you will need to send the drive to a professional drive savers data recovery company. It is quite expensive ($500-3700), but they can usually recover your data. Some insurance policies cover also, professional data recovery in order to check with yours. But let's be optimistic. ;-)

IMPORTANT - If there is no question that the drive is at fault - there are noises, for example - and the data is crucial NOTHING else ON THE DISC. Whenever launch you this player you can destroy data. If this is the case, send the drive to a professional data recovery company.

I'll give you the information on how to test the hard drive to see if it's good physically and how to recover data when you can't in Windows but in doing these things requires a certain level of computer skills. You know yourself the best and that it would be better to take the laptop to a competent local professional. If you do this, do not use a type of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad of the place. Get recommendations from family, friends and colleagues.

    A. test equipment

Test the hard drive with a diagnostic utility downloaded from site of the disc mftr. or use SeaTools for BACK of Seagate. You create a bootable CD with the files you download. You will need a third party burning software to do as the free ImgBurn, Nero or Roxio. Burn as an image, not in the form of data.

    http://www.ImgBurn.com

    http://www.Seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/SeaTools/seatooldreg
    http://Seagate.custkb.com/Seagate/CRM/selfservice/search.jsp?docid=201271 (how-to)

Boot with the CD that you have done and do a full test of the reader. You will probably need to change the boot order. Your Dell can give you a temporary boot menu if you press F12 as the computer starts. If so, use your arrow key to select the CD drive. Otherwise, press F2 to enter in Setup (BIOS) and change the order of boot on the CD drive first. If the disk fails all physical tests, it must be replaced. Although readers of the laptop cost around $60, you should really consider if it is to put money in such an old machine. You can replace the disk, but the laptop is definitely at the end of its normal life and something else is doomed to failure.

There is information about the RAM test and other materials here:

    B. retrieve data detach a healthy disk when you are unable to Windows

1 remove the drive and put it in a box of USB drive or use a USB adapter. Attach it to a computer that is running a working XP/Vista/Windows7 installation. Use the work of Windows Explorer to copy the data to the hard drive of the system to the rescue and burn data on cd or dvd.

    2. you can start the target computer with a Bart PE (if you use XP) or a Linux live CD like Knoppix and retrieve the data in this way. General information about the use of Knoppix for this are:

You will need a computer with two cd records, which is an engraver of CD/DVD OR a USB stick with a capacity to hold your data OR an external USB hard disk formatted FAT32 (not NTFS) *. Download Knoppix .iso image file and create your bootable CD. If you do this in a previous (XP or Vista) operating system, you will need the third burning like Nero, Roxio or the free ImgBurn software (Windows 7 can burn .isos natively). Burn as an image, not in the form of data. Then boot with the CD that you created, and Knoppix will be able to see the files in Windows. If you use the USB key or an external hard disk, right-click on its icon (on the desktop) to get its properties and uncheck "read only". Then click on it to open it. Note that the mouse action by default in the window manager used by Knoppix (KDE) is a simple click to open instead of double-click traditional MS Windows. If you want to burn CD/DVDs, use the K3b program.

    * My understanding is that you can now write on NTFS from Linux partition. If you wish to do this, Google for instructions on the use of the NTFS driver.

  • Dell Power Edge R410 & Dell Perc H700 modular F2WGY

    Hi guys

Need some advice please, a few weeks ago, we bought a Dell R410. This came with a modular 6/ir Perc. However, when we arrived at the installation of drives we noticed that the controller did not recognize disks larger than 2 TB. It's not good because we need to use 2 x 3 and 2 x 500 GB disks in a RAID 1 Configuration.

After Googling autour, I came to the conclusion that the card that it came with the "Perc 6/ir' does not support disks larger than 2 TB.

So, I advanced and bought a new modular a "Dell Perc H700 F2WGY" controller which apparently supports disks more great.

the controller came yesterday so I removed the old Perc 6/ir controller from the slot in the bottom of the map editing and trendy "Dell Perc H700 F2WGY" modular at the same place. : Photo of slot, I inserted H700

    H700 card: see picture

    PERC 6/ir map: see picture

Anyway, once I inserted the card and started, I was presented with the error; "PCIE training error" system HALT.

Obviously this would not start any further. So I brought the wrong card? im confused at the moment between modular and integrated? the pcie slot is low for integrated only cards?

I then add the new map on the PCIE Top slot. the system then started and he could see the card. However, it found no readers?

What exactly I do bad will this card work at all? or I'm out of luck and need another card?

    Cappilio,

The problem you are experiencing is due to the model of the H700. Map H700 modular version is actually designed for the blade server Poweredge series. The model that you would need is the H700i which is the version that is integrated, designed to go into the white storage controller slot you are talking about. The references are KK67X and CNXVV. The latest model of the H700 is the H700A which is the adapter, it's the model that is necessary for installation in a PCIe location.

This link explains in detail in the overview H700 - http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/pvaul/en/perc-technical-guidebook.pdf

Let me know if it helps.

  • Reference Dell PERC 6 / i stand?

    I have a Setup Raid 6 on a Dell PERC 6 / i on a Supermicro H8DGU

running a trial of the esxi 5.5u2

No matter what I try, I can't do the Dell raid card is displayed in the storage adapters. I don't get any device also appear for passthrough if it means something.

I have the AMD - V active and I had once made quick initialization (it's now the initialization in the background) I saw him appear on the list as a possible drive to install esxi. That tells me the esxi sees the card and the raid. But once I'm in vsphere nothing appears. Have not found a lot of messages from people not able to pick up this card so I think that the problem is just me. Ideas of things to check?

But I guess that even with 'Boot Support' is enabled on Perc, is yet to appear in ESXi?

I just checked your listing of motherboards to Supermicro. It employs riser card for the PCIe slots. Just to rule out it because there are a lot of wiring on the Perc: the card is well adjusted to the port of mounting?

You can check if ESXi usually sees the device by runiing "lspci - vvv" on the CLI/ssh. It lists the devices seen by the kernel, if Perc is not here I would consider the Perc is defective or some strange PCIe connection problem.

I have a Perc 6 / I works well for a client on a DELL Poweredge 2950 ex personalised Dell VMWare 5.5 Update 2 but on SAS, disks. But it's all DELL hardware and software side. I assume that the custom DELL VMWare image works only on DELL systems.

I have found several traces as the Perc 6 / I could run a little crazy if you use disks not certified by DELL. Also the Perc 6 controllers do not seem to be supported more than 2 TB of drives (see for example: disk HARD Support for 2.5 to 3 TB drives and beyond - TechCenter Extras - Wiki - TechCenter Extras - Dell Community)

So, you can probably run the test to disconnect all readers of your first and remove the Perc firmware RAID configuration and see if ESXi detects and it lists. If it does not help either I ran the test on different materials/mobo.

My laptop is a Dell Vostro 1720 of 32 bits, and so I accept I can't upgrade my Muse more away, but which has hosted a site for me, what should I do to add another site?

    Hello

What I understand, that is, you already have a free site hosted with Adobe Business catalyst, and now you want to get a more.

To do so, publish a Muse Adobe Business catalyst site.

Access to the administration panel and go to settings-> Site Management site, you should see the upgrade option, you will pay for the site, because it is not a free site.

  • "Setup cannot find not all hard disks" on Dell PERC 6/1 RAID controller-supported?

Hi team - I have a Dell R710 (physical host) PE server that uses the Dell PERC RAID controller 6/1.  Windows Server 2008 x 64 is the host operating system.  VMW Server 2.02 installs and works very well, and I need to install W2K8 x 32 (guest) server configuration, but windows can't see the virtual disk with the same error "Setup cannot find not all hard disks", you get the installation on Windows XP Home edition- but the documentation does not say it's controller RAID is not taken in charge should be... any ideas?

This is not a problem of the underlying RAID/hardware controller.

Virtual MACHINE on VMware Server just to see the virtual hardware that you have configured when creating the virtual machine, or through the settings.

Be sure to select the correct target OS when you create a virtual machine. This configures the disk controller HARD virtual appropriate, which should be supported on the OS installation media.

If you have selected the right OS and still have problems, please post the vmx file.

  • LSI MegaRAID Storage Manager and Dell PERC cards?

    Hi all

I have a Dell PERC 6 / i in my whitebox ESXi 4 server and I seem to be missing some options when connecting to it via the LSI MegaRAID 2.91 Storage Manager - 05. Basically, it seems the only operation I can do is take the disks offline. I have no option to create tables, add/remove disks in bays or change RAID levels.

I can do all these things from the BIOS, this is obviously not the card. I had a glance the BIOS if it was something in TeleManagement prevents there but could not see anything, and I was wondering if these limitations due to a cut the officer of management in ESXi or something? If not, what could be causing the problem? When I log in MSM I use the account root on ESXi and MSM reports that I have full access.  As it is MSM is not very good for anything other than general information about my disks, card and backup battery.

When I log in MSM I use the account root on ESXi and MSM reports that I have full access. As it is MSM is not very good for anything other than general information about my disks, card and backup battery.

Have you installed the OEM ESXi version for Dell machines, or just a generic of VM Ware?  If you install ESX (with console) you can then install OM, and will give you the access you want.  You can manage all of this on the web.  Otherwise ESXi is limited, and it is a known issue.

Have you tried to discuss with Dell?

  • Windows 7 x 64 driver for Dell PERC 320/DC

    Dear Dell,

I'm migration of Windows XP 32 bit to Windows 7 64 bit and I'm looking for drivers for my Dell PERC 320/DC (RAID SCSI PCI - X controller).

There is no compatible driver on this site, I've tried them all, even the driver XP 64-bit.

Because I know the controller is based on Adaptecs ASR-2200, I went looking on their website for the drivers, but they were not compatible either. I tried them.

Adaptec said there is a driver for the embedded ASR-2200 on the DVD - Windows 7/Installation, it's true, but also that, if selected manually is not compatible: when you try to install the driver, it returns "the device cannot start. (Code 10) ».

I tried updates firmware, such as provided by Adaptec for the ASR-2200, but nothing helps: the type of controller does not match. No firmware updates have been executed. The card still has the original and functional v4.0.0 build 5813 firmware on it.

The controller has always worked and it still works perfectly when using, for example, windows XP 32-bit, so it is not defective.

The chipset of computers is also not cause some sort of hardware conflict, then it works very well in both my Precision 690 and T5400 under windows xp 32-bit, BUT NOT in windows 7 64 bit.

I even contacted Adaptec on this issue, but they told me to contact Dell after trying what I already have.

I already checked this support site and found these interesting links, but none were of no help:

    http://en.community.Dell.com/support-forums/servers/f/1466/p/17771774/17894760.aspx#17894760

    http://support.Dell.com/support/eDOCS/storage/RAID/P41698/320UG/en/index.htm

So I hope that now a compatible driver indication can be given so that I can proceed with my Dell products.

Please, help me on this one, it's my last hope.

    Thanks in advance!

    Dear team,

I have two snapshot, but only want to engage 2nd snapshot, which option I need to select 'Remove' 'Goto', please find the snap.

2nd request: my concern is to engage second validation then only second snapshot snapshot snapshot 1 or directly on the flat disc.

    concerning

    Mr. VMware

"Delete" running for a single shot will merge its content to its direct parent, who may be the basic disk or another cliché. "Remove all" will merge the data of all existing snapshots in the basic disk. ESXi 4.0 Update 2 before it could consume a considerable amount of disk space depending on the number of snapshots and their sizes.

Since you're under 2008 R2, you might be able to run the Package version of update for Microsoft Windows, but since 2008 R2 is not supported on the T7600, it may not work properly, then you can try the hard drive version.  Since the H800 is not supported on the T7600 at all, it is possible that none of the Dell drivers will work.
