Which processors run faster?

Referring to a following linked picture, there are 2 CPU

i3 530, HT is disabled, so there are only 2 physical cores to calculations.

i5 2467 M, HT is enabled, so there are 4 logical cores for calculations.

CPU Mark for i5 is 2313, is this value determined according to 4 logical cores or logical 1 kernel?

As each instance of Excel can only utility one heart of the processor, what CPU will run faster calculation performance?

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions

Maybe there ia a misspelling in your OP but please note that the i5-530 is a desktop CPU and i5-2467M is a mobile processor, you can't really compare these processors as the mobile processors are designed to be energy efficient and the dollar can pack the power of a desktop in a mobile processor processor!

The i3-530 is a processor of 'old generation' more aged, while the i5-2467 is a version more recent "2nd generation" processor.  On a Windows XP computer, I would say that you are probably better off with the i3-530.  The main advantages of the newest of the i5-2467M are that that it is a mobile processor it uses much, much less energy and that it supports AVX instructions.  AVX instructions is relatively new and is compatible with recent operating systems (Windows 7, Windows 8 and Server 2008/2012).  AVX instructions are not yet widely used, but these instruction sets will become more frequent and they will dramatically increase the performance of the CPU intensive applications, give it a few more years and you will see several business applications which use AVX instructions, tests suggest performance gains in the order of 30% with AVX instructions.

These can be useful:

PS. HT is not all it's cracked up to the to be, and most of the existing computers work better with HT turned off.  Unless you have specific critical applications that have proved to work better with her, I would say that it be disabled in the BIOS.

  • HP Pavilion 500-239. Processor running hot

    Hello. I recently bought a new HP Pavilion desktop pc 500-239. Unpacked Tuesday and used for only a few days. Immediately I noticed that the fan seems to be running pretty strong and fast, I downloaded a few temp monitors and I noticed that the processor runs at more than 90 degrees C at full load. Now, I know this is normal, especially for a new pc. The case is in a place where it becomes high flow. I even removed the side panel to let some air in, the same thing.

    The processor is an AMD A - 10 6800 k quad core. Now, I've read the fan stock on those who are a bunch of garbage and will have to level it as well to get new thermal paste, but I wanted to see if there was no explanation as to why it runs so hot out of the box. I can't imagine that HP would leave the pc leave the warehouse without checking that the first.

    Operating system is Windows 8.1 64bits

    Faster?
    Well, you can try to upgrade the memory on your laptop and you can also try to disable some unnecessary background processes which lose many remedies of CPU and memory.

    But that's all you can do.
    You are unable to spend the CPU or GPU (graphics card) on the laptop. It is not possible.

  • Satellite A200-1N9 fan begins to run faster and become strong

    So, I have a strange problem. When my fan starts to run faster it bocome so loud, I can't work.
    What is more strange when he has bocome hard I can't start new programs and programs already running freezes.

    What kind of sorcery is this?

    Sincerely

    null

    Hello

    This occurs because a process running in the background constraints the CPU at 100% and this creates more heat dissipation and the fan on and short shot more quickly to cool the CPU. In addition, the CPU is locked and therefore the system hangs for a while.

    You should check what method or tool stresses the CPU.
    You can start the task (CTRL + ALT + DELETE) Manager and check the processes tab.
    Here you can see in the CPU column which processes are using most of the CPU performance.

  • IBM Thinkpad message: 'this machine can run faster with the USB 2.0 hub.

    Original title: Thinkpad USB 2.0 Hub.

    Hello:

    I have an IBM Thinkpad T-21 which is under Ubuntu & Windows xp.  I primarily use Windows XP.  The pop-up that keeps occurring is "this machine can run faster with the USB 2.0 hub.  Can you tell me how to upgrade my USB 2.0 Hub?  Would like to know because I can't sync my Android phone with my computer until I do it. Thank you.

    Are you sure you copied this error message properly?  In other words, he says that the hub could perform better if connected to a USB 2.0 port?  As far as I can determine that the T21 is not come with a USB 2.0 port, even if you connect a USB 2.0 device (for example a hub), the unit will only race as fast as the port allows it.

    What is the brand and model of your terminal?

    It is possible that the message means the opposite (i.e., your computer has a USB 2.0 port, but the hub is only a USB 1.1 device).

    USB 2.0 was introduced in 2001, so if you bought your computer before 2001, it is likely that you use USB 1.1 or 1.0.

    Open the Device Manager (start > run > devmgmt.msc > OK)
    Expand the category of 'USB Bus controllers'.
    If you see the "Enhanced" work for one or more of the listed devices, you have a USB 2.0 port.  If you do not see "Enhanced", you have USB 1.1.

    If the problem is that the USB port on the computer is not 2.0, so your only solution is to buy a USB 2.0 PC Card adapter.  Example and example 2
    If the problem is that the hub is not 2.0, then you will need to buy a new hub.

    Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

    This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

    This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

    -Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
    For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
    Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

    For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
    Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
    your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
    Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
    Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

    Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
    with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

    Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
    Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
    BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

    Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

    Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
    presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
    in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

    Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

    Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

    get new manually if you wish.

    I'M ON A WIRELESS SYSTEM TO RUN FAST, NOW I'M I'VE SEEN TROUBLE STREAMING MOVIES AND EVEN VIDEOS ON YOU TUBE, CAN SOMEONE ME USING THE ADVICE ON SETTINGS OF WINDOWS VISTA?

    Hi GrahamCroal

    1. is the streaming of films and videos slow down or you are totally unable to broadcast their?
    2. what exactly happens when you try streaming?

    You can check if the below link help-

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/which-protocols-does-Windows-Media-Player-use-for-streaming

    Also the connection speed must be higher than the data rate of the content you read to discover Fast Streaming. The faster your connection, the better your experience will be. So it depends entirely on the broadband connection you are using and speed offered by the connection. If you want faster streaming then you need check the high-speed broadband connections. You can communicate with the internet service provider for more information about the same thing.

    I hope this helps.

  • Loudness Radar can run faster than real time?

    My apologies if this has been asked before - I couldn't find an answer to a search.

    Loudness Radar can run faster than real time? Making sure that my levels is ready for dissemination of a television show, I'll have to essentially play through the whole thing to get a global level. Is it possible to have the Loudness Radar go on and give me a general level without having to hit 'play' and go away for a while? I'd like to be able to do in the first, but I'm fine with the export of hearing if that's what it takes.

    I've never had a problem with just dropping the main level (make sure that the Loudness Radar is set to post fader, btw). So in your example, Yes, I turn down the master by 0.9db.

    Speaking of which, my new faster way to manage the volume on the content of the longer emissions must export just the audio format .wav temporary somewhere, then load this file in hearing and its volume tool to know the LKFS level. Then, I take whatever number I get and set the main volume in first to do no matter what level the station/deaf network/tv customer needs. It's a heck of a lot faster, since the hearing can analyze loudness faster than real-time. On 30 seconds, commercials, using the Loudness Radar in Premiere Pro's no big deal, but dealing with half-hour TV series, with the help of hearing on export to .wav is much faster.

  • What can I do if the script runs faster than the network?

    I wrote a script between applications moving to InDesign, where he begins to AppleScript, to Photoshop, which AppleScript runs a JavaScript script to perform various tasks.

    It works beautifully on my laptop at home where I do my development. Yesterday, using me as a Guinea pig, I tried it in the office.

    On the third round, I was horrified to see the ExtendScript Toolkit pop up with an error message (about as welcome to see an AppleScript script, asking the user to open the Script Editor and fix a script).

    The error message was that app.bringToFront (); was not a valid function.

    This was the case in InDesign, which has a different activation function, and I realized that, even if my AppleScript called Photoshop activate, I was still in InDesign.

    The app.bringToFront JavaScript was so called because I had joined my code in the model of Tranberry.

    So I pressed the button stop on ExtendScript, returned to InDesign and represented the script. This time he worked as usual.

    Occasionally on our network we spend some time beachball - watch as a communication happens in the background. So I guess the time wherever the error was thrown was on one of these downturns in the network.

    The passage of InDesign, Photoshop is not happening pretty fast, but the script has run and has issued an order Photoshop JavaScript while I was still in InDesign.

    In AppleScript this unhappy communication with users can be avoided using blocks '... try error'.

    Is there an equivalent of the error handling in JavaScript that would allow me to avoid being tossed in the ExtendScript Toolkit and give them a friendly message to apologize, explaining what had happened and inviting them to try again?

    JavaScript has try/catch blocks

    try {}

    app.bringToFront ();

    } catch (e) {}

    error handling code

    }

    Or you might be able to use an if statement

    If (app == 'photoshop') {}

    app.bringToFront ();

    } else {}

    app handle not photoshop

    }
