• Which switch to select for WMP?

  I am running XP Pro SP3 on a Dell D600 Latitude with 512 MB of RAM.  I currently have Windows Media Player 9.00.00.4510.  It works fine for me, but used to synchronize with a Sansa Fuze mp3 player. the "rocket" seems to want to WMP 10 or higher, but I might be able to put files on a microSD and load this way.

  Updates tells me there's an update for my WMP9.  Or I could go with WMP 10 or 11.  For now, it is not broken (except for the problem of sync mp3), so I wonder if I should even try to fix it.  On the other hand, there could be better performance.

  Given my system and resources, which upgraded y ' All would recommend?

  First install WMP 10 should not be necessary, you can just skip to 11. If some required updates are not yet installed, the installer warns you to this topic.

  In case something goes wrong, you can always use system restore to roll back the system where it was before the installation.

  The BTree index certainly can and are frequently used when values are not unique (e.g. are duplicated).

  uniqueness isn't the issue. The relative number of distinct values (relative to the total number of lines) is important. An advantage of BitMap index BTree indexes, it's that BTree indexes can be composite - made up of multiple columns.

  I noticed MAC addresses with a 0000.0000.0000 on some of our switch ports in a particular building.  It turns out that some end users have been connect hubs personal/no authorized and/or cheap 5 ports switches in our network on these interfaces.  We have disabled the ports manually, then of course end users called the helpdesk informing us that they have lost network connectivity.

  PortFast and BPDU guard is enabled all leading edge devices.  However, given that these are switches and concentrators cheap I don't think they make same STP.  In order to have custody BPDU err - disable the port isn't our fix.

  So, is there another way to block these devices?  ACL?  MAC filtering?  Can you just block MAC 0000.0000.0000?  Maybe someone can explain what that means MAC 0000.0000.0000?

  I am aware of the port security, and which is currently in the works, but there the hope of a quick solution in the meantime.

  Depending on what type of switch you have, you have dynamic inspection of arp, where you record only trust mac on the database of the switch and the switch will reject any other mac connection. Port security is another option, allow a maximum of 1 mac on the port, but the problem will persist that connect a hub + computers, the port will be closed and you will need to reactivate the suspended port each time.

• Flash Builder beta2 compatibility issues?

  I tried on external authentication with Flash Builder beta 2 and php, in which I made a simple connection Panel, which switches to a new State with some components-ALCS (a SharedWhiteboard and a list of suggestions). Although the works of process connection (I get a returned token) and I enter the new State with the shared components, I get an error as soon as I want to interact with them, for example when I want to draw something on the SharedWhiteboard. The error looks like:

  Error #1053: Illegal override of NullSwatchPanel in com.adobe.coreUI.controls.nullColorPickerClasses.NullSwatchPanel.

  Is it because of the switch to Flex 4? Should I report this as a bug somewhere?

  Please follow this link, http://forums.adobe.com/message/2317657#2317657 . It has been corrected in the player 9 CFC in the previous version, but not in the player 10 SWC. It has already been corrected and is coming in our next update in the coming days. So, if you use flash builder beta 2 with player 10 SWC, just hold a few days, but you can use the player 9 CFC.

• Tools to manage/monitor 802. 1 x switch ports enabled

  We have switches to access ~ 150 in our society and have put in place security of 802. 1 x on ports.
  I would like to know if there are tools, ISE commands or switch commands that I can use to get an inventory on which switch ports have authentication enabled on them.
  Currently I have to connect individually to each switch and start looking at the configuration per interface. I guess that there is an easier way to do this?

  Also, is there some recommended tools to use to get reports on the State of the ISE? The ISE Group on the node of the Admin is entirely too slow and clumsy.

• CS5 Folio Builder Panel Update - missing Panel

  I've just updated the Panel Builder Folio for CS5 on Mac to the latest version (January 26, 2012) and when I run InDesign, Folio Builder Panel is gone. In addition, CSLive Panel gives me a message "internal error." I installed the updates on my PC for CS 5.5 and everything seems to work. However, I need to work in CS5 for this project. Is this a known issue? How to remedy the situation? In which case it is important, I've also updated producer Folio tools (January 17, 2012), as well.

  So, I ended up finding all ironed out, though it took a few hours of trying different things. Essentially, the Folio Builder Panel was installed, but Indesign did not see it. I tried to uninstall and reinstall Indesign, but which does not remove the Panel Builder Folio and has not "updated" it becomes visible.

  In the end, I had to go through the app records and manually uninstall the extension. After the relocation, the Panel stood. However, a new problem appeared. InDesign has tried to connect to my account but just turn and nothing happening. I could not cancel the in attempt to "sign". Finally, this has been resolved by opening the key ring and removing the entry of Adobe there allowed me to retype my credentials.

  Phew. Thank God, it's on. (until the next update, that is).

  If all goes well, this can save others some time that can run in this. Looks like it was a little lucky.

  SMA is a fairly old technology and is gradually removed from Illustrator, so why it is not recommended. If you create a plugin that uses WMD in CS5 so do not expect that it will work in CS6!

  As well as the interface user for plugins, you can also write extensions entirely in actionscript that interact directly with the Illustrator script DOM (using libraries CSAW), in fact the extensions can be extremely powerful - have a look at the blog of messages/tutorials related to this devnet page if you are interested. Another good point is that if you develop for many products, you can write the user interface once and it will work I, Ps, Id, and more.

  As for which is better, it is certainly much faster to develop actionscript based UIS - take a look at the example of FreeGridUI in the CS5 SDK or download the sample in Extension Builder extensions (available under the eclipse Import... menu item) to see how easy it is to write an extension. The main complexity with use of an extension as a front-end is the communication between the native plugin and extension flash (which is possible by sending XML via CSXS events), but it's pretty simple once you've done it a couple of times!

  For the user interface, you can drag and drop widgets in a graphical editor, write and modify your MXML (an XML variant) user interface code and previsualisez without evening that executes your code - it had developed a compelling UI really quick and easy. Not only that, but the use of the generator of the extension, it is easy to run/debug/profile your extension directly in Illustrator (or other point products). There are full of large flash applications and a large community - a community much larger than those experienced with ADM. If you try to find a way to do something in an actionscript UI you will probably be able to find something quickly - after all an extension is based on flash, so you can reuse code snippets and code flash/Air applications.

  For learning flash, the Flex in a week video tutorial is a great place to start - check it out at http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/videotraining.html. You should be aware that extensions must use Flex 3.4 to CS5/5.5, then part of the substance in the flex in a tutorial of the week does not apply (it is oriented towards Flex 4). There are also a lot of great samples/tutorials on the internet to help you get started, and samples that come with builder extension show you how to use the CSXS stack for things like menus that drop down from the Panel, preferences, etc.

  As well as Flash you can also write your user interface code items in a third party such as Qt so widget setting you prefer to stay in C++ code. I have not tried it personally, but there are a few messages on the forum, that you may find useful if you are interested in this approach, and other users might be able to help too.
