Possible to stack switches 4 7048 2 on each floor

How would you stack a total of 4 7048 switches with 2 switches on each floor?  Two groups of 2 switches are located 1 floor independently of the other.  What additional modules and cables are needed?

Thank you.

Hello

You would daisy chain between stackable modules on all four switches. Cumulation between the floors is probably not going to work properly, as the distance of cable max is 3 m. http://www.Dell.com/downloads/global/products/PWCNT/en/PowerConnect-7000-stacking-white-paper.PDF page 2

  • iSCSI with stacked switches

    Hi guys,.

    I have a client who is looking to implement a new iscsi solution.

    We are looking for in the design of the network iscsi at the moment and my preference would be to have two switch dedicated for iscsi traffic.

    The customer, however, is eager to use 2 switches configured as a battery and use a vlan.

    So my question is, connecting the iscsi network to stacked switches would cause problems in terms of failover etc.?

    Thank you

    NO it shouldn't cause any problems-

  • 3750 stacked switch question

    Hi all

    If I need to reboot the switch due to a mistake I did on an ACL to get the boot configuration, can I restart the breaker or the whole stack?

    Thanks in advance,

    If you have console access you will need to plug into the battery to reboot to get the configuration, once you save it after that you applied the acl, it will revert to the previous config

    a cleaner way is to try get console on it and remove the config but, restart the entire stack is going to be service make for a large number of devices

  • Possible NAT uses a PC 7048

    I can NAT to a site that is located on an MPLS link that carries only some subnets?

    Our MPLS presently 172.16 traffic that is routed through the PC 7048 (5.1.0.1 VxWorks 6.6)

    We added a few sites beside our MPLS and they are 192.168.x.x subnets. Rather than wait for the improved carrier network to carry 192.168, can I do with NAT directly from the 7048?

    Otherwise, any other method? Tunneling? No matter what?

    Thank you

    I did some more research and talked with a colleague to confirm that your conclusions are correct. Q-in-Q will not work with this type of connection. The 7048 cannot be configured for NAT. We did some looking around to see if we could find another function, but have been unable to find something that would accomplish what you're looking for, sorry.

  • Several VLANS and DHCP relay on two stacked switch SGE2000-G5

    We were put to the task of securing a small desktop system managed that is currently set up with a standard switch for each of the offices (with different companies) to see each other and in some cases, access to each of the other documents on the network.

    Obviously, this is far from adequate set up and our goal is to isolate each office using VIRTUAL networks, but share a common internet connection provided by managed offices.  We have two switches for layer 3 Cisco SGE2000-G5, but we are new on Cisco equipment and VLAN, so we are not quite sure on how to implement this.  DHCP must be provided by a router, there is no server.  We are open to suggestions on the router as we still buy a.

    I hope that someone may be useful.

    Thank you very much

    Jim

    Hi Jim,.

    SGE2000 switches you are using must be able to handle this without issue. What type of router you are using? As long as you have a router that will take in charge VLAN / several subnets, it should be a simple configuration.

    Here's a quick run down of the measures to be implemented. (using vlan1 and vlan2)

    On the router, create a vlan / subnet 2 and set the port to connect to your shared resources with the two VLAN 1 and 2 switch. (it will be untagged, two will be marked)

    On the switch, create vlan2 and do the same for the port connected to the router. (vlan1 marked and tagged vlan2)

    Now for each switch port that you want to assign the port access and vlan1 and vlan2. (this vlan will be without a label)

    If your router allows, disable routing inter - vlan. If this isn't the case, you must create rules to block traffic from one network to the other.

    All this happens under the assumption that your router can support VLAN and can also make DHCP for this VLAN.

    Hope this information helps

  • Is it possible to temporarily switch to silent mode to blackBerry smartphones?

    Previously - in my Nokia - I had the opportunity to spend my phone to silent for a period of time of my choice. After that, the phone would go back to normal. The advantage of this was that I could never forget return to normal. For example, at the beginning of a meeting with an estimate of the duration of 2 hours, I program the phone to a silent period and after that he would go back to normal in two hours. It was so convenient. Is it possible to my BlackBerry 9000?

    Karim

    This isn't a standard option on BlackBerry devices, however, there are applications that can do it without input.  As long as you enter the time in your calendar, you can configure it so that it changes automatically profiles according to the needs.

    An application that you can try to check is called ProfilerPro: http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/4048

    Take a look at this and see if it would work for your needs.

  • Need help with orders to clear a N2024 stacked switch port configuration

    Speed 1000

    Description "WifiLocation2".

    VLAN allowed switchport General add 154

    switchport general allowed vlan add 153 tag

    switchport vlan allowed General remove 1

    switchport access vlan 15

    LLDP transmit tlv ESCR-sys sys - cap

    LLDP transmit-mgmt

    notification of LLDP

    LLDP-med confignotification

    disable voice vlan auth

    I need to look like:

    interface item in gi1/0/20

    Description "WifiLocation2".

    switchport access vlan 15

    I tried a lot of things, but cannot get rid of the lines switchport

    any help would be appreciated

    Clayton

    Another way to remove the general lines switchport is to use the option "Delete" on all VLANs currently associated.  Just like what has been done for the vlan 1 in your example. Something like this:

    switchport vlan allowed General remove 153, 154

    Make sure you have the mode set correctly.  By default, the access mode is set.  If the default value of access is being used, the lines "switchport general" are ignored anyway.

    Hope this has been helpful.

  • Needs to switch WLan activating / deactivating after each reboot on Equium A100-027

    Well my laptop worked fine for centuries, then recently each time the laptop restarts or turn on I have to turn off the WLAN switch and again each turn before the work of Wifi.

    He starts getting really annoying now; There seems to be a software bug / config problem, so I did a factory restore and even then still doesn't work does not correctly!

    Any ideas? It is driving my crazy now!

    OS is Vista home Premium BTW.

    Hello

    Try to update the WLan driver!
    In most cases, this helps!

    In addition I advise to use a tool to configure WLan as Intel ProSet utility for example (only if you use the Intel wireless network adapter)

    I use the Intel ProSet utility and I m very happy. My WiFi connects immediately after that the laptop has started.

  • V9 Acrobat JavaScript Alert Box - possible to add space or line break after each element of the array?

    I have a Document level Javascript used to identify empty mandatory fields and fires on shares of paper, print and save. The script identifies the required fields empty, counties and outputs of an alert box indicating the number of required fields empty and lists the name of the ToolTip fields. The script identifies the required fields with an asterisk at the end of each balloon.

    Is my question possible to add a space or a line break after the decimal point for each item?

    Here is a picture of the exit where the items listed are all grouped together.

    Alert box array items need space or line break.jpg

    Here is the code:

    function validateFields()

    {

    a counter for the number of empty fields

    var = 0 flg

    count all the fields of the form

    var n = this.numFields

    create a table to contain the names of the required fields

    If they are determined to be empty

    fArr var = new Array();

    Browse all fields and look for ones that are required

    all fields that have a ' *' in their ToolTip are required

    for (var i = 0; i < n; i ++) {}

    var fn = this.getNthFieldName (i);

    var f = this.getField (fn);

    ToolTip is the property of 'userName' of the fields\;

    TT = f.userName var

    test the ' *';

    If (TT. IndexOf('*')

    ! =-1 & & f.value == f.defaultValue) {}

    increment the counter of empty fields;

    FLG ++;

    Add the fields username (ToolTip) to the list of the names of fields empty.

    fArr [fArr.length] = tt;

    }

    }

    now display a message if there are blank fields

    if(FLG>0) {}

    App.Alert ("there are '+ flg + areas that require a value\n\n' + fArr, 3")

    }

    else {}

    This.Print ();

    }

    }

    The required property is very easy to use. It's just a Boolean (true/false) value, then you can use it like this in your code. Instead of this line:

    If (tt.indexOf('*')! =-1 & f.value == f.defaultValue) {}

    Use this:

    If (f.required == true & f.value == f.defaultValue) {}

  • What switch do you recommend

    Hello

    Brief description of our environment...

    x 1 poweredge R720 with x 4 network ports for iSCSI
    x 2 poweregde R710 with x 4 network ports for iSCSI
    x 1 poweregde R610 with x 2 network ports for iSCSI

    x 2 PS6100E EQL
    x 2 PS4100E EQL
    x 2 PS6000 EQL
    X 4 PS5000 EQL

    Everything is distributed evenly between two floors of the building by using SyncRep and regular replication on the EQL boxes and using a VMware HA and DRS cluster on hosts.
    Physically separate networks for iSCSI network and production.

    We use 5448 powerconnect on the iSCSI network switches. One PC5448 for each floor and they are connected with x 4 fiber LACP trunk link.

    I know that these switches have to be replaced, but what? PC6248, PC7048 or Force10? Perhaps even another manufacturer? If so which model? The price IS a decisive factor, I don't have the budget for expensive stuff

    Check the support matrix Equallogic to get an idea of what switches are validated and supported / recommended. It is not limited only the Dell switches (Cisco, Juniper and Brocade options listed there).

    First, you'll want to upgrade to double switches on each floor and LACP together. You can stack them, but this has the drawback that if ever you want to / need to upgrade the firmware of the switch in one or both of the rooms, you'll need 100% service interruptions in this room.

    In my next part I'll stick to switches Dell since it is a Dell message board.

    I would skip the PC6200 series unless your budget can not install a switch better. The 6200 is a decent switch, but it's on its way out (this can be seen by the fact that Dell has not updated the firmware on the switch since the 3.3 series (all 7 k and higher switches are now on a firmware 5.x).) The Force10 S25 series is better than this PC7024 a switch, but if you plan to switch to 10 GB at some point, you may consider a pair of 8132 s PowerConnect in each room. The non - F version uses RJ45 ports that can make 1Gbit and 10 GB, then you can use to start just the current units of EQL, but new units could be 10Gbit units. You want to get the QSFP + optional modules for each switch and 2 wires for each pair, so you can use these 2 40Gbit LACP ports switches set in each room.

    If you want to use a LACP between the 2 rooms consisting of two switches, you have a more difficult choice to make; stack the switches (with the disadvantage that I mentioned above), or upgrade to Force10 S4820s that these offer the possibility to make a channel of port on 2 non-Stack switches (PowerConnect firmware does not offer this).

    Cisco and Brocade offer similar characteristics (to execute a LACP on 2 switches non-Stack), but I do not know what exact firmware and/or switches that would offer.

  • which switch to a 16 floor building

    Hi guys.

    I am designing a network for a 16 floor building.  The network will include about 400 IP cameras - all POE or UPOE from a central location.  Everything is going to be multicast. My questions are:

    What should be used?  I was thinking about 3750-X with double 1100w power for basic switches and devices UPOE drawing of 50w each.

    Some soils will only have 20 devices POE + up to what should be used for those? they must be capable of multicasting.

    What the network design?   I can wreath say 4 floors at the same time so 4 x 4

    Many questions more, this is my first drawing of complete network so I want to be sure that I have thought of everything.

    Thank you

    Here's what I'd do:

    The list of all endpoint devices that require a PoE power on each floor
    with these data, I can calculate and compare which and how many switches I will place on each floor

    For your switch, the more redundant best and also have a 3750 Switch x stacked.
    and on each physical switch have one connection for each of the switches, since it is stacked, that is, a logical switch I can configure port-channel since the cameras can use a lot of biological weapons, especially it COMP

    and oh yes, if I where you, with so many stories, I would probably just 4 switches.
    SFIM can have 1-2 links to the MDFs (even when some may require 2-4 links according to the BW requirement in particular because there are cameras) and their link aggregation.

    for your plan of power CS! well better the more redundant.

    And hey if you have the budget, you can even install battery on your criticism IDFS switches. (for example, the switches connected to them)

  • Dell PowerConnect 7048 P reference stack Questions

    Hello

    I have two switches in L3 7048P I want the battery but I'm not sure how it works. The two switches have the same firmware.

    1 must. the two have the same configuration running on both to make it work?

    2. in addition, I created a VLAN (3) voice on the first switch with an IP address of 10.0.3.254. I use the same IP address on the second switch in the VLAN 3 addresses or assign another?

    Thank you!

    There is a guide especially for stacking switch 7048 on the Dell page networking white papers:

    en.Community.Dell.com/.../2580.Networking-guides.aspx

    Just search "Dell PowerConnect 7000 Series Switches stacking".  Page 16 will tell you how to add a new Member to the battery with minimum interruptions. Both can present the same firmware in order to stack.  So the answer to question 1 is no, the configurations do not need correspond to stack them.  Once stacked, both will look like a single switch, and you use only the IP address of the master swtich to the whole stack.  Therefore, treat the two switches as a single switch during Setup.  The guide provides more information on how it works.

    Hope this has been helpful.
