Why can't I format my partition?

I recently bought a Western Digital Caviar Green 2 TB hard drive to replace my old 300 GB drive that did not. I tried to install Windows on the disk, but was unable to complete a format; I first tried a quick format, which has almost instantly, then I tried a full format, which processed 8 hours approximately and then failed. Told me modern material most is not configured to recognize a partition of 2 TB as the primary active partition, so I split it into two partitions: 500 GB for installing Windows and 1.33 TB for the rest (the player had 1833GB, not a full 2 TB). It worked well for a smaller partition and I was able to format and install Windows, but I still cannot access my second partition. I tried to format it once I rose Windows and running and I have still been unable to do. I used the command line tool, the disk management tool, I even tried EaseUS Partition Master, all to nothing does not. It becomes very frustrating to have over a terabyte of my disk space completely unavailable for me. I know that Windows can work with partitions (at least) upwards up to 1.5 TB, as my brother has two disks of 1.5 TB in his machine who all the storage allocated to a partition of each. I really want to format my partition and start using the disk space.

I have already tried to divide the space into two smaller partitions, each half of the total, but has not yet been able to format each partition. The drive is mechanically strong, and I like that it works as expected, if this isn't a failed HARD drive from my knowledge.

I don't know what could be the specifications of important information, so I don't really understand a lot. Also, I didn't know where to post this question, but the Microsoft Web site chose the 'Hardware and drivers' section for me, so I took their suggestion and posted here.

HARD drive: 2 TB Western Digital Caviar Green
DESIRED PARTITIONS:
C: disk - 500 GB for installing Windows
D: drive - 1.33 to (all the remaining space)
OS: Windows Vista editions Home Premium x 64
MEMORY: 8 GB

I had the same problem how I fix is in the disk management window, I deleted the volume. I then did a new volume and it formatted, it is fine.  I hope that helps you as well.

  • Can I use the HP Recovery partition after formatting and partitioning the rest of the hard drive?

I recently had my HP Pavilion dv4 2145dx laptop (Windows 7 64-bit) go kerput.  The Geek Squad said that the motherboard is dead.  I bought a laptop and I use this one for now, and I use the former dv4 as external hard drive.

I intend to continue to use the hard drive from the old dv4 as an external unresolved for now, but I wish we could fix the dv4 at some point in the future.  Here's the problem: to get the most out of the former dv4 as external drive, I want to repartition it so that there is an NTFS partition and one HFS partition +.  This way I could easily use it with my Mac and Windows machines.

But if I do that, I'm not sure if the image of HP recovery would continue to operate.  If it does not, then if/when I get the old dv4 a new motherboard, I couldn't restore the operating system from the recovery partition.  It is a problem, because I have not create recovery disks (stupid, I know - I'm definitely making them for the new machine).

So, I want to do these two things:

    (1) create my dv4 recovery disks.  Can I do this if the dv4 drive is mounted in an external enclosure?

    (2) format and partition the drive dv4 (the leaving intact recovery partition) and later to recover the system from the recovery partition.  The recovery partition would continue to operate in these conditions?

Thanks for any help that anyone is obtained.

    Hello:

What you do to the C:\drive will make the ineffective recovery partition.

You will not be able to create a set of recovery discs unless the drive is usable in Notepad.

Can you still read all 25 characters of your product key of W7 on the bottom of your laptop broken?

If so, you can do this...

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Or use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. Link and instructions below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB compilation method.

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/HTML/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

    http://www.mydigitallife.info/official-Windows-7-SP1-ISO-from-Digital-River/

Or, you can probably still order a set of recovery disc for your HP laptop.

trying to format a partition that has an extra on BONE. I can't click on the format of ideas?

    Hi Dave2474,

I recommend to format from the disk (disk operating system) otherwise, it will boot entry.

Note: Make sure that you back up important data before formatting the disk.

You can also view the article mentioned for more information below:

Create and format a hard disk partition

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/fr-FR/Windows-Vista/create-and-format-a-hard-disk-partition

    Data loss caveat:

Converting a hard disk partition or volume from NTFS to FAT32 requires that you reformat the partition, which deletes all the data on this subject. Be sure to back up data that you want to keep before you begin.

    Hope this information helps.

If the video does not the restrictions of DRM (Digital Rights Management), so you can see just by changing the .mp4 extension allows it to be played in Windows Media Player, but if Apple added restrictions to the file DRM then you will be limited to such players as apple deems suitable to be used, probably iTunes or Quicktime.

  • Why I can't make a new partition of hard drive on Windows 7?

In disk management, when I click with the right button on my hard drive and try to reduce it, an error message comes up saying:

"The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices is associated to him.

I tried to restart the virtual disk service, but that no longer works.

You could try the following, and then try again:

    Click Start
Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
    Click on "Run as Administrator"
At the command prompt, type: sfc/scannow

This will check for any breach of integrity

    Restart your system

    or you can use EaseUs

EASEUS Partition Master Home Edition - http://download.cnet.com/Easeus-Partition-Manager-Home-Edition/3000-2248_4-10863346.html

    ------------------------

Proceed with the installation of Easeus:

Click Next, follow the easy on-screen instructions.

Once the installation is finished, click on finish

Click go to the main screen

Select the drive you want to resize in partition window

Drag the button until you have an amount of disk space to install Windows 8 desired, then release. In the above screenshot, I allocated 19 GBs of disk space.

Click on apply to apply the changes that you just made.

    Click Yes

    Click Yes

Your computer will restart several times and changes will be made to the layout of the partition, this process is hands-free, so no interaction is required.

  • Why can't Photos read my sandisk sd card, but no viewfinder?

I have a lot of cameras, and when I plug in my sandisk sd cards in my computer, I can always browse clips in the finder, except when I record the images of my panasonic ag-ac90 which shows nothing in the DCIM folder. Why is this?  I can view in newspapers and photos and transfer images in Final Cut, but why can't I see my images directly on my sd cards when I use this camera?  What is a camera problem or mac?  If anyone has an answer, I would be very happy.

I guess the problem is with the way the cards are in the format. You should try to access cards with Capture of Image utility in the Applications folder.

  • Te2100 - want to format that partition regardless of XP

I have a laptop Toshiba Te2100, running Windows XP Professional.
It has a 40 GB hard drive that is partitioned into a C drive and a D drive. Drive C is about 8 GB and XP is installed on this partition.

A few weeks ago, I tried to start the computer and he kept getting as much as the login screen and restarting over and over again.
It wouldn't start even in safe mode, but got a distant as a dll file that I finally discovered was something to do with the graphics driver.

I had no success trying to backdate the pilot so decided to reinstall XP using the installation disc. I thought it was format the C drive and installation on a partition clean but after it started and I was replacing all the software I had originally on the disc, it starts to come up with its imperfections. The disk check, I found it was full and that XP, instead of setting shape and installation on partition clean, had not won on a completely different and left windows folder all my original content on the partition.

Now I want to format this partition regardless of XP if possible to make sure that everything is clear and let the other D partition intact.

Any suggestions on how I can do this successfully?
I have a program called Killdisk which lies on a floppy disk, but the laptop doesn't have a floppy drive, or I would use that. I have also an external hard drive that I think has a hard drive of the laptop and I was wondering if I could remove the hard drive and put it in that format the partition with my desktop computer.

I don't want to lose all the information on the partition of the D drive in the laptop if possible.
Any constructive suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Allan

Maybe you have to connect your HARD drive to another computer, as external and copy any important data. Then, you can give to your laptop and reinstall Windows XP Home edition. Then you have the option to remove all the existing partition, create new and install WXP.

You really have a 64-bit version of XP?

The Windows XP installation CD does not recognize SATA drives.  You must either have a SATA drive driver on a floppy disk (floppy drive) so that you can "press F6" during installation or (b) a slipstreamed XP install CD that incorporates the driver SATA or (c) temporarily change the BIOS in legacy IDE mode, install XP and then install the SATA drivers and SATA mode (this can be a bit complicated (: link1, Link2).
