Why did for 64-bit OS required VT invited?

Hello

I have two identical boxes here (Intel D510MO mainboard):

  1. with CentOS 5.4 64-bit and VMware server 2.0.2 installed

  2. with VMware ESXi 4.0.0 (build 208167)

The Linux-based system allows me to install anything I want to test in a virtual machine: Windows, Linux, 32-bit, 64-bit. No problems.

On the ESXi based system I was able to install 32-bit systems. Try to install a 64-bit CentOS fails with an error indicating: "your CPU does not support long mode. Use a 32-bit distribution", some googling showed me that it has to do with the lack of support of VT in the processor.

But if it is necessary then why doen't VMware Server 2.0.2 need? I have even some VMware server is running on a 32-bit Windows XP 64-Bit.

Can someone explain this to me?

Thank you.

Hello

Maybe in your esxi 4.0 intel VT (I assume that the box has an Intel CPU) is not really compatible.

Check this post carefully. Maybe you help

Best wishes / Saludos.

  • Why no compatibility 64 bit Vista for Lightroom 5?

Please don't direct me towards the requirements of the system; I already read again and again that only Windows 7 or 8 are compatible with the LR5.

I want to know is WHY a Vista 64 bit taken in charge with the beta 5 Lightroom but now not for the current full version of the LR5? Sucks to have been led to believe Vista would always supported, due to the inclusion of a support VIsta 64 on the Beta version, to find that the full release supports NOT VISTA.

And "not supported" means he won't really install and be usable with Vista 64, or that it simply means that you don't provide technical support?

Janie please visit http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/windows-vista-supported-lightroom-5.html.  Also, messages, I saw that you will not be able to install Windows Vista.  I recommend the upgrade of your Windows 7 operating system or later if you want to install Photoshop Lightroom 5.

The back button often responds with a drop down menu of the story rather than simply go back to the previous page. There used to be a small arrow for that, why did you do that?

When I left click on the back instead of the browser navigation back button, I go almost every time to get the list of previous browsing history or it will just doing nothing until I click on the new button. The history of combination of button "return" rather than a separate between the historical click of the buttons box is the problem. Combined with my arthritic fingers of aging that is. If I was as fast as I used to be I guess it wouldn't be a problem. I liked the separate history area. This action combination navigation / buttons story scenario is problematic. I'm fairly certain that if I find it quite disturbing to bring to your attention that there are others (old beards) in the same boat I am.

    Well:

    1. you can download.

If you select the download updates but let me choose... option, no update will install without your approval. Suppose an update will require a reboot and does not approve the installation of an update until & unless you are ready to restart.

You can change the AU for the "updates but let me choose whether to download and install them" setting. Once you have done this, you will need to approve the updates are downloaded, the updates are installed and where they are installed.

  • HP Mini Atom N2600 1104: why the OS 32-bit (Windows 7 Pro)?

I just bought a HP Mini 1104 (Atom N2600 processor).  The architecture is 64-bit capable.  Why it comes with a 32-bit version of Windows 7?  I think that the 64 bit version of Windows 7 would be a more natural match.  Is there some extremely effective in disk space, speed, or power draw using the 32-bit version of Windows 7?

    Thank you

    -Ryan

    Hey, Ryan:

A 64 bit OS requires more disk space and memory to run a 32 bit OS.  Not double, but more.

Unless you have 64-bit programs, there is no advantage in having a 64 bit installed - OS, especially if the maximum memory you can install is only 2 GB.

The processor is capable of 64-bit, but it does that of up to 2 GB of memory.

On your laptop, you're better off sticking to an OS 32-bit for the aforementioned reasons.

I even think that somewhere on this forum someone has tried to install W7 x 64 on their mini with the N2600 and he would not go because of an incompatible hardware error message.

I don't get that because the processor is normally the only keeper there.

My apologies, I must have misread the topics when I did my first answer. For some reason, I got it in my head, whether you use Windows 7 32 bit.

I stand by my original comments well that although I appreciated now that you are referring to Windows XP.

If you want to go to 64-bit Windows XP I'm not sure if this is even possible now. Unless you buy a commercial version second hand. If you can, make sure that it comes with an installation CD.

  • Windows 7 64 bit receives updates for 32 bit

My new laptop runs Windows 7 64 bit and I check the available updates automatically downloaded before I install them.  I noticed that some updates specify 32-bit... and when I read more about the Microsoft Windows 7 update, it shows the same update also for 64 bit and the file is a slightly different name.

Example today: KB982726 update has been downloaded and has written for 32-bit and the name of the file is "office2010-kb982726-fulfile-x 86-glb.exe" but the KB982726 that says for 64 bit has a file name of "office2010-kb982726-fulfile-x 64-glb.exe.

Most of the updates, I've been automatically downloaded do specify 64-bit, but I wonder if I need to start checking all the 32-bit downloads sent to me for a version 64 bit and install instead, manually.

When there is a "64-bit version" of an update... and... since I get other updates to 64 bit, why do I automatically would receive the "32-bit version" of these updates?

If Office 2010 32-bit (x 86) is installed, and 64-bit Office 2010 is NOT installed, updates are appropriate. ~ Robear Dyer (PA Bear) ~ MS MVP (that is to say, mail, security, Windows & Update Services) since 2002 ~ WARNING: MS MVPs represent or work for Microsoft

  • downloaded updates for 64-bit os when I have the 32-bit operating system

About 2 months ago, I downloaded some updates for vista 64-bit os when I use the 32-bit operating system and he did something, I believe, my registry. Now I have problems with my updates. Do you have any solutions?

    Hi batoutaaustin22,

Thank you for using answers Forum.

I suggest using the System File Checker to search for 64-bit updates files were damaged.

    The System File Checker tool

To determine if the problem you are experiencing is caused by one or more system files that are used by Windows Vista, run the System File Checker tool. The System File Checker tool analyzes the system files and replaces incorrect versions of system files by using the correct versions.

To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start and type cmd in the box start the search .

2 right-click cmd in the programs list and then click run as administrator .

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click continue

    3. at the command prompt, the following line, and then press ENTER:

    sfc/scannow

Please let us know if that helps.
