  • It takes to run Windows Defender if I have Norton Internet Security?

If I have Norton Internet Security installed. Should I have Windows Defender running?

Original title: what security is ok

    Hi paowie,

    Absolutely not.  See http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-security/norton-internet-security-and-windows-defender/761d5aff-382e-46d9-b9f5-f65178b83d91.

Please disable Windows Defender in Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Services.  Double-click Windows Defender and stop it if it is started.  Then in the drop-down menu, make sure to put it off.  Click OK to save the changes.

    Good luck!

  • HP Mini Atom N2600 1104: why the OS 32-bit (Windows 7 Pro)?

I just bought a HP Mini 1104 (Atom N2600 processor).  The architecture is 64-bit capable.  Why it comes with a 32-bit version of Windows 7?  I think that the 64 bit version of Windows 7 would be a more natural match.  Is there some extremely effective in disk space, speed, or power draw using the 32-bit version of Windows 7?

    Thank you

    -Ryan

    Hey, Ryan:

A 64 bit OS requires more disk space and memory to run a 32 bit OS.  Not double, but more.

Unless you have 64-bit programs, there is no advantage in having a 64 bit installed - OS, especially if the maximum memory you can install is only 2 GB.

The processor is capable of 64-bit, but it does that of up to 2 GB of memory.

On your laptop, you're better off sticking to an OS 32-bit for the aforementioned reasons.

I even think that somewhere on this forum someone has tried to install W7 x 64 on their mini with the N2600 and he would not go because of an incompatible hardware error message.

I don't get that because the processor is normally the only keeper there.

  • Layout of biased e-mail. Failed to open an email. Windows Vista Home Basic. Installed Microsoft Security Essentials.

When you open the e-mail, the arrow cursor has the blue circle that runs continuously.  There are some letters lapping on the e-mail page.   No old or new emails cannot be opened.   Two weeks ago, I installed Microsoft Security Essentials and this problem has been resolved until today; the same problem to access old e-mail is back.

Try to compact and repair the database (www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/).   Then in security essentials exclude the eml files of research (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3), because this results in a mismatch between the WinMail database and what is actually in the message store, generating problems such as you see.

See if that fixes the problem.  You can also try to remove your e-mail account and then closing and reopening of Winmail opener and then add it again.  See www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#wm for information about the message from WinMail store organization.

  • Cannot install Elvismx on 64-bit windows.

    Hi all

Have a bit of a crisis. I bought a mydaq for a college project, and can't get elvismx to install.

I use a laptop Sony Vaio of 64-bit win 8 and every time elvis tent to install I get the error "32-bit only" and the installation program quits. I tried several versions of the driver for elvis whose 4.4.

By using LabView 2012 sp1 (64-bit) if it makes a difference.

I'd appreciate any help I could get!

    Jim

ELVISmx will install for 64-bit Windows, but it will not install in 64-bit LabVIEW.  You will need to install LabVIEW 2012 SP1 32-bit and then you should be able to install the ELVISmx driver with support for LabVIEW.  This note should probably be included on the download page (I'll see if we can get it updated), but it is stated in the readme.

  • ranging from 8.1, 8.1 32 bit windows 64-bit

I have a laptop Dell Inspiron 1545, purchased in March 2009.  I put 4 GB or ram and replaced the HHD with a 250 GB Samsung Evo.  I just upgraded from 7 to 8.1 system and tried to find a way to get the thing on the 64 bit system.  Microsoft has been little help saying that they weren't of course but that he believed I should change motherboard and all to run in 64-bit.  Then, they suggested that I go to Dell to help them.  I want this thing to run as fast as possible.  My computer properties say, "32-bit, x 64 processor operating system".  Can and how do this thing running on 64-bit, then he will run as fast as possible?

The ONLY way to move from 32-bit to 64-bit is to install 64-bit Windows from scratch through clean install... There is no way to upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit.

  • Where to find the 8 unique language of 64-bit windows product key?

    Dear,

I have Toshiba P850 with 64-bit Windows 8 unique language pre-installed. I could not find the product key on the back of the laptop, then I tried the Toshiba web site and find nothing, I also tried the Microsoft Web site and failed to find an answer.

As I'm ready to upgrade to windows 8.1 (only one language of course), I found the product key, always not sure if Microsoft will upgrade the single language version too, so, I'll keep waiting for an answer to this question.

By clicking on 'Show details in Windows Activation' I found a two groups of characters, but the 1st group is five asterisks. As far as I know, the Windows product key contains five groups of characters.

My concern is to ask if this version of windows will have a product key, if there is a product key, can someone tell me where to find it?

    My gratitude to all,

In Windows 8, the product key is now in the BIOS, not on a sticker on the computer. When you upgrade to 8.1, you need not provide the product key; You can find out for himself.
