Why did microsoft license anyone contact to tell me that PC has been infected?

Some guy from a "microsoft" call center, comes to call, read me my address and said then my PC has been infected by a virus, I have still the comp and the HARD drive, so I know that this is not a PC recovered prob, so how did do it?

Hello TonyLyons_778,

Microsoft will not contact you unless you have a contract to support prepaid with them and you have opened a support ticket. That's all just a scam. There are a many of them ride for now. The idea is to get you to allow the individual access to your PC. Then allows them to install a small application that allows them to access your computer without your permission. They then steal your banking password details and other personal details. The best thing to do is ignore the call and 'Never' to give them access to your PC.

Meanwhile obtaining your address, etc. This can easily be achieved (remember that people are taken at random) by accessing the local telephone directory or the final list of electors.
