Why do I close Firefox and restart Firefox 27.0 to download Realdownloader to work?

Real Downloader works for awhile then stops working. I have to close Firefox 27.0 and restart to make it work again.

Hello Paul7177,

Please contact the Mozilla Support. After looking on the support page of the Real, they recommend the following:

Check that the plugin is enabled in your browser.
1. click on the Tools menu.
2. Select Add-ons.
3. locate RealDownloader.
4. If the button says 'disable' this means that the plugin is currently enabled.
5. If the button says 'Enable', click this button. Click restart now.

Note: If you are using IE or Firefox, download this video will not work if your browser is configured for private browsing. If please close and restart the browser window and try again.

If you try to use it under the private browsing?

If checking the plugin does not work and you are not private browsing I would say to contact Support the Real here

Please let us know if this solves your problem.

See you soon,.
Patrick

Always better to go directly to the source of update of Plugins. You can never be certain you receive from another site; Although Youtube is usually a trustworthy site.

There are 2 versions of Adobe Flash:

    • an ActiveX version for IE only
    • a plug-in version for most of the other browsers including Firefox

You don't seem to have the Plugin for Firefox installed version. If you did, in the Add-ons > Plugins you would see "Shockwave Flash (version)". If 'Shockwave Flash' is there and is disabled, click on the button "activate".

Not related to your question, but...

You may need to update some plug-ins. Check your plug-ins and update if necessary:

Can I interrupt a download for several hours and restart?

Theoretically - yes. If it works in practice is not always guaranteed that must always login to your account and start downloading from there then all authentication information are in place. That being said, if you can, just let it run and finish before it can start over completely. Better safe than sorry.

  • Drive HARD HP G62, Win7 HomePrem, crashed and replaced, made recovery system, win update does not work?

Mine is a 64-bit system and the new hard drive is a western digital Scorpio. The two drives is / are 500 GB. I used the recovery disks to reload the OS to new hard drive, so I do not understand why this problem occurred. Check Microsoft sites, tried to download the system update tool before you manually download the Service Pack 1 for Windows 7, but received an error before installing (0 x 8000247).  Tried to get help from HP, but given that the laptop is no longer under warranty, I have to buy a HP warranty $ 14.99 per month for 12 months before they'll talk to me a fix for this problem.  This part is really senseless, especially when it is THEIR recovery disks I missed.  I do not be fooled by a false sense of security by HP again.  I was by Compaq and HP for many years, but this time they hurt me.  I didn't not whining when the drive went bad and I had to pay for a new because I didn't buy an extended - warranty which was my fault.  But the recovery discs that don't work are lack of HP and I wouldn't have to pay twice for an operating system.

If there is someone out there who has heard of this and has a solution, I would appreciate it really your. Thank you.

  • When I close Firefox my computer says it is still ongoing and I have to restart my computer to get Firefox to run... This is a first for me.

Every time I close Firefox and try restarting my computer leaves a message that I have Firefox running and that it does not and must be closed. The problem is that it is not a Firefox always running, therefore, it is impossible to close and therefore impossible to open it. I used all forms of Firefox and this is the first time that this has happened. Please, please don't force me to use Chrome or iExplorer!

Use "Firefox > output" (Windows: Firefox/file > quit;) Mac: Firefox > quit Firefox. Linux: Firefox/file > exit) to close Firefox if you are currently doing by clicking on the X close in the title bar of Firefox.

You can check if it is useful when you can start Firefox in Safe Mode by holding down the shift/Options key.

  • Keep my pinned tabs disappear when I close and restart Firefox, this isn't after a crash. How can I stop this?

Keep no apparent reason of my pinned tabs disappear from Firefox. This has happened three times now. I have not synchronized to any device. I keep my story and not erase it.

    Hello Silvia,.
    Sorry, you have problems.

The system to store this information seems to be a bit fragile.

When trying this please ensure you favorite whatever it is open and close the unnecessary tabs and don't let any ongoing work, initially you can lose more than just pins tabs. Once things go wrong, that several sessionstore files can be created, clear duplicate follow these instructions:

    1. See this for instructions on the profile search. Use the troubleshooting information, while Firefox is open profiles - where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data#w_how-do-i-find-my-profile
    2. Make sure that everything is backed up or bookmark and close Firefox
    3. Remove all duplicate sessionstore.js files found in the profile. Those with a number or.bak
      As mentioned in http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_hangs#Multiple_sessionstore.js_files
    4. Restart Firefox, you may have lost some information i.e. pins or other tabs
    5. In the future when shutting down Firefox always use the menu option, which is from the Firefox button on a Windows machine. Do not kill the process, or close the window of final Firefox using the Windows icon at the top right.
  • When I close firefox I can't open a window again. He tells me that firefox still works and I have to restart my system. It is a recurring problem on a brand new and very irritating system.

I don't know what other details I can give you. I'm not very computer wise. Just a web browser and Claris emailer daily. It is a problem of catch 22. For example when I install a program. flash player Adobe for example, it tells me to close firefox to continue and when I do I get the firefox still works the message even if there is no window. And if the installation is not complete. I love firefox but it kinda turns out to be a dealbreaker. hope you can help.

    Hello Bo.

It is possible that you have a problem with some Add on Firefox which is an obstacle to the normal behavior of your Firefox. Have you tried to disable all add-ons (just to see) to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you must make sure that it is not caused by one (or more) of your installed modules, whether an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do this easily and cleanly, start Firefox in safe mode (remember to select disable all add-ons when you start safe mode). If the problem goes away, you know that it's an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode and allow them one by one until you find the source of the problem. See this article for more information on troubleshooting extensions and theme and this one for plugins.

If you need help with one of your modules, you will need to contact the author.

  • Why make more empty, localstore.rdf and perf.js files appear in my profile whenever I open and close Firefox?

I have hundreds of empty localstore {xxx} RDF and perf {xxx} .js files in my profile folder. Where {xxx} refers to a number. New higher numbered files appear each time that I open/close firefox. He ate two files pref (perf.js and perf1.js) that are not empty. There is a single localstore.rdf file that is not empty. All other files are the zero-byte files.

Also, my toolbar customizations won't stay put. I re - customize the toolbar on a regular basis. Erase all files localstore and perf in the case of a corrupted file does not help.

This suggests that something prevents Firefox to edit these files. This happens usually when anti-virus software keeps a lock on the file.

LocalStore.RDF is the file that keeps your toolbar customizations. Since Firefox can not change it, your toolbar customizations are lost.

A less likely cause is a read-only attribute or permissions problem.

  • Why are cookies not deleted when I close Firefox?

    Hey,.

My problem is that I put Tools / Options / Privacy / history to "Use the custom settings for history", then under "cookies", I put keep up to the: to the "closing of Firefox".

Yet, when I close my browser and restart any of the cookies are deleted. If I register my tabs, I be online on Web sites that are open in the saved tabs. But even if I close the site and then leave. The site, and then reopen after having restarted Firefox, I am always connected. While Firefox is defined do not remember my user name or password, the only way this can happen is through cookies. Therefore, cookies are not deleted. But I can also see it in the list of cookies: it is full of old stuff.

So why are cookies not deleted despite this setting?

Firefox has beeen quite soft on the life private lately, and frankly I do not understand why. The possibility of having more than X days History automatically deleted is also long gone, and now this cookie setting does not, either.

If you reopen tabs automatically next time then Firefox stores cookies from these default tabs as part of session data in the sessionstore.js file.

You can set the browser.sessionstore.privacy_level pref 2 (never) or 1 (not HTTPS) on the topic: config page to disable the registration of cookies via session restore.

The browser.sessionstore.privacy_level_deferred pref is used when you do not reopen last session automatically via "show my windows and tabs from last time" and use the same values.

  • Flash player 16.0.0.296 says now but will not fully updated unless firefox is closed, but when I close firefox that he says again that he needs updated. Why?

my plugin update checker has been working well, so I know this isn't the problem. the problem is that when I update my flash player id stops at 95% or 96% and will remain like that until I close firefox and when I close firefox it then finishes update, but then what fierfox reopens it says he has again updated. I've never had this problem before so why now?

Here is a screenshot and see the screenshot just copy and past this link http://i.imgur.com/MafjKdn.png

Hello courtney-jane16, the result of the plugin check page unforunatley is correct, there was yet another vulnerability discovered in adobe flash player 16.0.0.296 who is already exploited in the wild.
    See the Security Advisory: https://helpx.adobe.com/security/products/flash-player/apsa15-02.html

There is no difficulty because it published by adobe again and the button to update the plugin check site lead nowhere at the moment - so it's best to put the flash shockwave ask to activate plugin in firefox addons > plugins Panel!
