Why do I have to "Run as Administrator" in Windows 7?

I would like to know why, it's think I cannont simply double-click on any of my programs (Windows Media Player, etc.) without going through a right click above first to hit run as adminastrator? I am the owner and the only user of my computer and its _ me that there are a thousand ways to open, use or run anything. All I want to do is get on my computer, run the program I need, with all the permissions so I'm not on the computer for three hours extra all the because im trying to understand a stupid operating system that is supposed to be user friendly.

Hello

The concept is called the least privileged. This is the key that makes Windows 7 more secure than previous versions of windows. Here is an article that describes the basic principles.

Principle of least privilege

In Windows 7, even if you use an administrator account, you are still running as a Standard user until you raise a process to use your administrative privileges.

I hope this helps.

Thank you for using Windows 7

    Hi all

So as the title says, I am using win8, my laptop is i5 less than 1 year, my antivirus is norton, still 125 GB of free space.

The thing is, after I right click the .exe files, run as administrator and it goes to the user account control > you want to allow this program to... > Yes, then nothing happens

I just double click on the file (do not running as an administrator), nothing happened (so it wont even display of user account control)

When I tried to delete the file, it says cannot delete because the file is open

    Can someone help me please?

    Thank you

    Hi Ronald,.

What is the current status of the issue? Is it resolved?

To make sure that you have not any corrupt system files, you can perform the SFC scan and check the results.

You do not have.  You only need like MS ID IF you want to use MS services (IE subway).  Where-ever your email is now will work on Windows 8

  • Run as administrator

Why Windows 7 always tell me that I have to run as administrator when I'm already logged as administrator? Then he gives me no options. I hate Windows 7

    Paula,

The "built-in Administrator account ' that nika0 referred to as has no UAC invite [those who mind].  If someone gets to fool you by running a file infected of any kind, nothing to protect your system.

In a normal account, UAC guests allow you to examine why something has requested access to other protected areas of the computer so you can decide to grant or refuse permission.  This applies to normal administrator thus accounts because they will in the same way that standard users until this UAC prompt accounts is approved and even in this case, it's just the approved program that is allowed to continue.

You should only see the UAC guests when you do something that might affect other users of the computer [or could affect their if there was other users].  I can imagine no burning disc that would generate the UAC prompt.

I wonder if your account has been corruption.  This can happen without specific cause identified, but shut down Windows without going through the procedure of his power right off is considered a probable cause. I suggest that you create a new user Admin in Control Panel [view by - small icons, as applicable], user accounts, manage another account, create a new account.  Then repeat this disc you have recalled to burn.  If it works without causing a UAC prompt then you can conclude that your account has corruption.  If you get the same answer so I'm wrong and you can ignore me.  Please, do not post back with the results.

If you want to say what other examples, you had to get the UAC guests, I can also tell you if they its normal.

  • Open file must run as administrator

    change the manifest.

    It's my help:

    MetaInstaller

as you can see that there

but the program don't request still run as admin.

    What can I do?

    Best regards

If you get an obligation to run as administrator, then Windows (or Linux or other) is to 'play with you '.  What I did when I need to put the files where "ordinary users" can access is to place them in a Public folder.  On Windows 7, this is usually a C:\Users\Public\Public Documents.  Can you try this and see if it works?  [I have generally try to keep C: as "clean" as possible and certainly keeping my own files and folders out of the root of C:].

  • When you click Run as administrator, no login window appears

This has been my problem for over a month now, because whenever I tried to install a software or an application by using the option "Run as Administrator", no windows login to enter the admin account invite as if nothing is happening.

    Hello MEM.

    Welcome to Microsoft Community forum.

As you mentioned that when you select "Run as Administrator" during the installation of a software or program you did not receive the guest account. This means that you logged in with an administrator account.

If we should connect with a local account, then only we get a guest account if we select "Run as Administrator" during the installation of a software or program, however, if we should connect with the administrator account, then we will not receive the prompt.

You can refer to the page provided below to verify that you are connected with the Local account or administrator account.

Please check the name of the account through which you are connected using the first screenshot, and then check the account type by using the second screen shot.

Click on the Start button at the bottom left and you will be able to view the name of the account.

After you know the name of the account that you will need to check the type of account and for that you can see the steps below.

    • Click Start.
    • Then select Control Panel.
    • The title of point of view, choose large icons.
    • Now, find user accounts and click on it.
    • You will then be able to see the name of the account through which you are connected.
    • Below, you will be able to see the account type.

For more information, you can consult the page provided below.

Hope that the information provided is useful and has been able to answer your questions. However if you are still having problems with Windows, we will be happy to help you.

    Thank you.

  • Facebook tries to redirect my usual login page with a dialog "you must be logged in. This allows Mozilla to 'run as administrator' stopped, why?

By connecting to facebook lately (in the usual help of the login page for the Canada facebook or facebook.com), opens the usual page, but then a dialog box appears stating "you must be logged" which also provides form for email and password boxes. It seems that my login pages are redirected as I'm stuck using the original page to connect. When I chose "run as Administrator" for firefox, has not stopped this dialog box that appears and I am able to use the initial login page. I wonder what might have been past & if/why run firefox in admin mode has stopped this?

This can be caused by corrupted cookies.

Clear the cache and cookies from sites that cause problems.

    "Clear the Cache":

    • Tools > Options > advanced > network > storage (Cache) offline: 'clear now '.

    'Delete Cookies' sites causing problems:

    • Tools > Options > privacy > Cookies: "show the Cookies".

If clearing cookies doesn't help, then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies is corrupted.

Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other files to present as cookie cookies.sqlite - journal in the profile folder of Firefox in the case where the cookies.sqlite file has been corrupted.

  • Why some games and other programs need to be "run as Administrator" mode in 7RC which worked fine in normal mode on 7 beta and vista?

Why some games and other programs must be run in Admin mode in 7RC which worked fine in normal mode on 7 beta and vista?

An example of this is the game Guild Wars (www.guildwars.com). I had problems with this with random programs.

    cbello57,
Run as administrator may be required for some games and programs because they have a permission structure different in Vista in Windows 7 (Windows 7 and Vista are different in how to manage certain permissions).

I suggest test you installation of the game in the program by clicking on the Setup file by clicking on "Run as administrator".

This will sometimes solve this kind of situation because it installed the program in a State of high permission.

This output from test and let us know your results Rami

I tried turning point/disable ipV6, run as administrator, disable firewall... etc I tried everything. He used to work on Window Vista and a few old iTunes. I've updated to iTune and move to Uverse. It has stopped working. I thought the problem was iTunes so I've updated to the latest version of iTunes in Vista, then update to Vista and then install Windows 7 and then last iTune on Windows 7... I now have everything that the most recent and it still does not work. I have not the firmware on my router can be updated, but I think it's fairly new

There may be a setting on your router you can disable IPv6.  Try this and also disable IPv6 on your NIC again.

  • Why do I need to run PS and bridge as an administrator?

    Hello

    [CC 2015 / 10 Windows]

If I do not change the compatibility of photoshop.exe properties and bridge.exe to run as administrator, when I run them, Windows asks me if I'm sure I want (OK, I'm sure I want) and then nothing. The process is loaded, but nothing appears on the screen. I have to kill the process in Task Manager.

These applications running as long as administrator is not something I normally do.

    Thank you.

I think that's more because of the paranoia of Microsoft than anything else and a determination not to let the software even trust regularly change anything, but Photoshop written in many different places on the system, temporary files, database, preferably, "scratch disks" and the registry, which would be targets for software malware-of where the need for permission levels high. Using an administrator account is not as taboo as it was once, I think they should probably call something else like "completely trust". Windows actually has a super account administrator with powers does not to the administrator, as used by Photoshop, which is actually the real administrator of the system. You can see if you try to make some registry changes with an ordinary administrator account and when you try to remove the foreign language fonts. In short although if you want to run Photoshop and everything is working you should use administrative permissions.

I tried several times to contact support, but have not been able to get well. I have a trial (try actually the second time), but are not yet able to test Lightroom/CC. I wanted to try the room light I use Capture 1 now.

My question is this: the Downloader or installer will load only if I "Run as Administrator" and then it crashes every time in seconds. I even tried the Adobe application that will go well and remove all the remains of the previous software hoping that he would, but no solution. It will continue to act as his footstool, consumption of RAM, but do nothing else than the loop on the same screen. I have to force quit the program so that he could even respond. I'm a little confused on where to go with it. Thank you!
