Why is it so difficult to find the latest version of Firefox?
There seems to be no place on mozilla.org see easily what is the current version of Firefox. I have to dig through the support questions and answers to find out. If this is kept secret for some reason? THX
Hi gamble-PuTTY, I don't know why your Firefox discovered the update if these preferences are set. You probably wouldn't know if you've ever tried to prevent Firefox to auto-update... the methods have been proposed which include the addition of a hosts file or firewall update server name or another external locking mechanism. Maybe Firefox isn't able to determine why requests to this server fail if that is the problem.
You can always find a current full installer on the next page:
https://www.Mozilla.org/Firefox/all/
The links system requirements and Release Notes at the top lead to pages with the current version number. To find your Installer, scroll to your preferred language.

I've upgraded to the latest version of Firefox, but I always get a message on my home page that says "you are not on the latest version of Firefox. Update today to get the best of the Web! »
You can see this message under the Google search box on www.google.com/firefox which is the old default Firefox homepage. It seems that this page is no longer maintained by Google. You seem to have the latest version of Firefox.
If you want as the Google search page as homepage, change your homepage to Subject: House (a new version of the old homepage Google/Firefox update is now integrated into Firefox).
