  • My laptop took more than 12 hours to install an update from windows and is still doing, and will not be closed.

I use Vista and an HP Pavilion laptop. I noticed the closing down and install updates logo was so I used it and my laptop started to install 2 updates (June 18, 2011). • Why does take more than 20 hours to run MSE from the upgrade from Vista to Windows 7

I've upgraded to Windows 7 a couple of days.  Normally, I run a full scan of MSE once a week at night while I'm SLEEPING.  Since upgrading to Windows 7; MSE 5% complete the next morning.  I don't know why it happened - please let me how to fix it.

I suspect that the problem is that your computer came into fashion "sleep" during execution of MSE.  There are a number of discussions related to that on this forum as the following: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/protect/forum/mse-protect_scanning/why-doesn option is to change your power settings to prevent the "sleep mode", and then change them back.  What I do is run a small program called insomnia which remains visible on the screen, so I remember to turn off once the scan is complete: http://insomnia.en.softonic.com/

  • Stupid MDX script takes more than 10 hours to run in ASO

I inherited a stupid MDX takes more than 10 hours to run in ASO. This formula is member of the map called forecast scenario & real scenario.

This is the equivalent of ASOsamp of it:

I think I can shorten it to:

    (1) are the following equivalent?

    IIF (([ActualScenario],[Expense]) + 0 <>0)

    can be replaced by

    IIF (NonEmptySubset ([ActualScenario], [Expense])

    ?

    2)

The reason I can remove almost all the lines for the PERIOD - his first line, it is already check if [period] is zero. Then, it updates level 0.

So why would we want to write the code to update (period) levels 1, 2 and 3?  ASO is supposed to automatically consolidate all other levels 1 to 3. So why is this MDX aggregating levels 1 to 3?

    (3) in fact, I don't know why we need this Case statement:

CASE WHEN ISLEVEL ([period]. CurrentMember, 0)

I thought THAT MDX in Member roadmap scenario only works on members leaves (zero level).

    PS.

    The time dimension is simply

    Year

    -T1

    -Jan

    -Feb

    -Mar

    -Qtr2

    etc.

Thank you and Merry Christmas / happy holidays!

PS. I changed my name to "SEEP limits."

Rolling up the quarters is the real problem. Since you have a verification statement to see if you are at level 0 do the math, you're cutting everything above level 0. Yes, it's fast - but it's because you're excluding senior level members.

I don't know how this cube is great, but you can possibly use this formula with a procedure calc to write the data to another Member. In this way the aggregation would work without any formula.

  • WMP 12 albums on entry each time charging takes more than 1 hour to load

I uninstalled and reinstalled according to the suggestions on the internet without success.

    Hello

Thanks to join Microsoft Community where you will find all necessary information about the Windows operating systems.

Windows Media Player takes more time to load the albums.

This can happen due to the interruption of some third-party programs.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if the problem persists.

When the computer starts to boot, programs non-Microsoft will not be started and would avoid any interruption of their share.

    See the mentioned site:

How to perform a clean boot for a problem in Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: once you are done with the boot, follow step 3 of section to set your computer to normal startup.

Note: If in case, you are connected via a connection wireless, and then when you start the System Configuration utility to perform the clean boot, click Startup and Services tab one time and check wireless see corresponding section are checked (enabled).

I hope this helps. If the problem persists, or if you have problems of Windows in the future, let us know and we would be happy to help you.

  • Windows update takes more than 3 hours

I have a new laptop with windows 7, it began to be updated on its own with 35 updates and its been over 3 hours and said not to shut down the computer, also says its configuration. I stopped it and when I turned it back on the same screen

I have the same problem and lasts 3 hours, and I'm still waiting! If I have a notebook, turn the power off and must leave, how do I stop the process? I have to write my linux server because my new machine with win 7 does not work, turn not turned off and I can unplug or stop. any solution? (an acceptable)

The update process will take as long as it takes unfortunately. A major upgrade starts when you have sufficient time to undertake the task.

  • I started to run Disk Defragmenter on my laptop with Windows Vista to 7:45 last night. She is still ongoing at 10:55 the next day. That is what it is? I can't believe that it takes more than 12 hours to defragment a hard drive.

    Vista
    Defragmenter

    Hi Augie,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

    1. you run defrag disk for the first time?

Disk Defragmenter is a tool that rearranges the data on your hard drive and brings together fragmented files so that your computer can run more efficiently. We must keep in mind that the Disk Defragmenter uses disk access low priority and processor so that it is not influence your current running programs. This automatically translates a slower process. Disk defragmentation can take a long time if you run it for the first time and also depend on the space of hard disk and available data. If may take up to 15-16 hours, depending on the data and the bad clusters on the hard drive.

    Try the suggested methods.

    Method 1

If you want to reduce the number of unnecessary files on your hard disk to free up disk space and help your computer run faster, use disk cleanup. It removes temporary files, empty the Recycle Bin, and removes a variety of file system and other items that you no longer need.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/delete-files-using-disk-cleanup

    Method 2

You can run a disk scan command to remove bad sectors on the hard drive, then run Disk Defragmenter.

    1. open the computer by clicking the Start button, click computer.

    2. right click on the hard drive you want to check, and then click Properties.

    3. click on the sur l' onglet tab Tools and then, under error-checking, click check now.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

To automatically repair problems with files and folders that detects the scanning, select automatically fix file system errors. Otherwise, the disk check will simply report a problem, but not to fix them.

To perform a full disk check, select search for and attempt recovery of bad sectors. This scan is trying to find and repair physical errors on the hard drive itself, and it may take much longer to complete.

To check for errors file and the physical errors, select automatically fix file system errors and search for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.

    4. click on Start.

Depending on the size of your hard disk, this may take several minutes. For best results, do not use your computer for any other tasks while it checks errors.

  • deletion of the user seems to take more than 1 hour? My iMac stills delete after more than 1 hour?

Creates an account for a family member. Try to delete but it seems take som time. Is this OK or something wrong?

Depends on. Did you select immediately remove or secure erase option. The latter could easily take hours to days depending on the size of the user's Home folder. Of course, still a base deletion can take some time for a large number of files. Be patient. If ever completed, and then try to shut down the computer and restart. Then do an Empty Trash by CTRL - or RIGHT click on the Recycle Bin and selecting this option.

  • Suite CS6 takes more than 4 hours to download on my new MacBook Pro.

I am trying to download all CS6 on my brand new MacBook Pro w / retina display (no other news program other than standard programs of the MacBook is currently on the computer). I started at about 7:15 this morning and quickly downloading up to 85% of the program.  He is now 85 percent since then and the "time remaining" slowly went from 6 minutes to reaminig now 40 minutes to download. It is now just after 11 hours.  Is this normal or is - this program does not download properly?

It is not downloading correctly which is dependent on your internet connection, not what programs you have running.

probably, you need to delete what is downloaded and start again.

  • After April updates installed WinXP so slow takes more than an hour to connect and create the desktop icons

Just ran the April updates on Windows XP.
Restarted, connected (connection to the normal domain but with no controllers available as domain is no longer in use and I don't want to mess with the settings of the user account).
Very slow to build office, took several minutes just to display the wallpaper, then icons took a minute or two each to paint. Systray icons present but being not properly painted, taskbar autohide as expected, some startup app dialog boxes appeared as expected, but very slowly, still failed to see start/programs, too slow to do anything.

Have not tried any uninstall or safe mode start-up etc. as hoping that someone already know possible cause and there are so many updates to eliminate this time!
    Any suggestions pls?

Update - good news, seems to have fixed the
After having tried to disable ZoneAlarms (never refreshed dialogue), disconnect from the network and disconnection (zclient termination necessary), log in as an administrator and seeing office paint normally (and ZA does not seem to have been disabled), logout, then again as a user and see an empty office for long hours that had to be reset , the next reboot and the connection seems to be functioning normally. Just a waste of time that meant machine didn't get used for a day and night I waited things.
Guess I'd better try the update on my other machines now.
