Why Mail cannot download attachments?

I use Windows 8 and the built-in Mail application and I frequently encounter errors when you try to download attachments such as line charts or PowerPoint presentations.  It gives me an error that says:

One or more files could not be downloaded.  Try again

Try again actually try again, but it still fails.  There was a bit of affection that I can open it, but most gives me this error.  This makes the Mail app a poor replacement for Outlook.  In fact, if I can't even download my attachments, the Mail app is useless.  I should mention, I ran into this on my desktop with Win 8 Pro (RTM) and my laptop with Win 8 Enterprise (RTM) and my RT Surface and this problem exists on all three devices.

It's using my work email using Exchange 2003, so I wonder if there are any questions between the messaging and Exchange 2003.  Has anyone experience this problem?  If so, do you have tips on how to fix it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Thank you

Damon

I had the same problem of download of my attachments in my area, but I later discovered it was due to the messaging application that has been installed in the office. I uninstalled the fast view application of Gmail and just opened my mail online. Hope this helps someone out there.

  • cannot download attachments after update ios9.2

Since the update of my iphone to ios 9.2, cannot do the following:

    1. send photos by e-mail videos. phone does not seem to compress the video send as before. He asked me to use the mailbox instead which does allow receiver to listen, not download.

There is enough free space on my phone. I use ms outlook exchange server but that does ' t stop me from doing these tasks on my desktop pc or imac via outlook.  It seems to be a problem with the new update and communication with ms exchange.  I don't want to rely on apple icloud to solve these problems.

any other experience of these questions?

    Hi WFORA,

I unfortunately don't have an answer, but we have a very similar problem since 9.2 with our Exchange 2003 server. We also tested with Exchange 2010 and our problem does not exist there, that in 2003, which unfortunately we are bound for the next few months at least until what we have upgraded.

Our specific problem seems to refer to attachments HTML over a certain size. Apple say they have intensified it to their engineering team.

What version is your exchange server?

  • Atrix 4 G, Email Corp. cannot download attachments, connection errors

our company uses exchange 2010 w / active sync for phones.

I currently have an atrix 4g users, and it will not download attachments in app email stock that I tried on 4 networks various wifi and on ordinary cell data. I changed the network ap to at & t mobile us (wap.cingular). I know that I don't have 4g or hsupa? IM in maine... we never see technology up to 2 years after the fact.

I just confirmed that I can see the accessories same in the gmail app.

alone with this problem of attachment, intermittently there are errors of connection on the e-mail Corp. debugging of patient account if there is a way.

lookin for anyone else having the same problems.

In addition to the steps listed in the previous response, you can also choose to check if policy Activesync "Allow attachments to download on the device" is enabled and that "attachment Maximum size" is not defined by the Exchange administrator.

  • Windows Mail: Cannot download E-mail: error: 0x800CCC18

I'm unable to download my email in Windows Mail to my Gmail account, but I can send emails from this account. I was able to do it without any problem until I changed my password and deleted the account and establish a new in Windows Mail. I use POP3 server and get the following error message:

Account: 'Gmail account', server: 'pop.gmail.com', Protocol: POP3, server response: '-ERR invalid command gs2mb20844665wjc ', Port: 995, secure (SSL): Yes, Server error: 0x800CCC90, error number: 0x800CCC18

Can someone help me with this error? Thank you.

I am answering my own error report because it may be useful to others. I solved this problem now, but I don't know why it worked today and not yesterday. It is possible, it's because I did not follow the instructions correctly to run wmutil 15.1 that erases a corrupt windows Messaging database. When I ran it first, I did not remove the first e-mail account. This time, I did, I ran the utility and configure the email account again. I had to change several times to get the correct port with a secure connection (SSL) numbers, but then it worked.

  • Windows Mail cannot open attachments

I am running vista Home premium SP2 and using Windows mail. Two days ago I can't display all the attachments of my emails. If I double click to open them - there is no answer. If I try to save, I get "cannot run command '. I can see if I send to another address and you use a webmail on the same computer account. I checked the internet options to ensure that the ability to upload files is correct. I changed the start in: option empty, then '%UserProfile% Local SettingsTemp '.

Just in case someone else has had this problem. I solved it by doing a system restore

Start > all programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore

and return to a point where my computer was still running.

  • Mail becomes incredibly slow, but only if I download attachments

Mail becomes incredibly slow, but only if I download attachments (photos, files pdf, etc]

This has happened a lot lately.

If I get a message with, say, some photos attached Works Mail very well. However, if I can download files attached to my iMac mail becomes so incredibly slow, even if I delete the email with the files. If I quit Mail and then restart the problem persists... I literally spinning beachball if I want to compose a message... everything still works, but each action takes forever. I tried to rebuild the mailbox, but it does not work. The only way to recover messages to work properly (at normal speed) is to restart the computer.

Start Safe Mode removes the system caches that can help...

Follow these steps to start in safe mode.

    1. Start or restart your Mac.
    2. As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key.
    3. Release the SHIFT key when you see the logo Apple appears on the screen.

After the Apple logo appears, this may take longer than usual to reach the login screen or your office. This is because your Mac performs a check of directory of your drive to boot in safe mode.

To leave safe mode, restart your computer without pressing any keys during startup.

Then try to download an attachment.

  • Firefox gmail cannot have attachments. Icon does not respond. Why?

It's also show as icon lightly colored when others are darker color.
I tried this on two different computers with the same answer. Also restarted the computer nothing works.
Is it me or the program?
    Gmail referred me to Firefox.
    Thanks for any help.

If you cannot add attachments to messages from Gmail then you need to add an exception permit to allow pop ups for this site from Google (mail.google.com).
Easier to do this is to click on the padlock on the address bar and click on the "More information" button to open the window "tools > Page Info" with the Security tab is selected.
    Go to the permissions tab
Remove the tick on 'Pop-up Windows' > 'Default' and click Allow radio button to change the permission to allow pop-ups for the domain mail.google.com .

Google looks at this question, see:

cannot open attachments to emails or some document files, like the downloaded videos or greeting cards.  I tried the exe file. thing and it is already in my folder of files.  Need a fix.  Had this problem 2 months ago and that's where the exe. has been applied.  Has worked since then until today.

    Hello

    1. what changes have been made to your computer before the problem?

I suggest that you follow these steps and check to see if they help.

    Step 1:

If the problem occurred recently, perform the System Restore to the point that your computer was working normally.

    Step 2:

Test the issue in a new user account and check if the problem persists.

  • Why I can't download attachments in the emails? I use Wind.Int.Explorer.

Often, I receive an e-mail with a document to open or be ownloaded d. I use the new program area of Comcast .net receive on Vista. Comcast said it was a Microsoft problem. The document said that usually it's a Word 2007 Document allowing macros. When I hit open, it opens a window and save in a file. It doesn't seem to be a way to open this file in the place of «.saved» So, how to open these attachments?

Need a program on your system that can read Word documents.  You have MS Word/Office or the free Word Viewer http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=3657ce88-7cfa-457a-9aec-f4f827f20cac&displaylang=en or the free OpenOffice www.openoffice.org (that I recommend in your current situation if you do not have Word/Office) or something else that does the job (but you must be SURE he can read Word 2007 documents allowing macro.)  Earlier versions of Word or Word Viewer (or same OpenOffice) might have problems with such a document unless they have been updated to handle the new format (and can be done at the center of technical support of Microsoft Office or by downloading the latest versions of OpenOffice or Word Viewer).  Once installed, then you can then read attachments and Word documents.  Try to open attachments again.

Maybe there is a problem with the associations.  Double-click on any Word on your system (probably one in Documents or on your desktop) and see if it opens Word and displays the document.  In fact, try to open the saved file to see if you can.  If so, then the associations work and which is not the problem.  If no, go to Start/Default / programs / associate a file or Protocol with a program / search .doc and check the default program - is probably not Word.  Click on edit, then select Word.  If Word is not an option, click Browse and locate the file winword.exe (somewhere in Program Files) and make it the default.  Do the same for .docx and .rtf (and any other type of file that Word to open).  Then try to open the attachment again (you may need to reboot for changes to take effect).

If this does not work and you have the right programs so I am sorry to say that the problem is probably with the e-mail program and not with Microsoft (Word or Vista) - despite what you have been told by comcast.  Try using Microsoft Mail or Microsoft Live Mail like e-mail software to see if you can get your email and download attachments of one of these programs.  It shouldn't be too difficult to implement one of them (Microsoft Live Mail is a little better, but it must be downloaded while Microsoft Mail is already installed) - parameters should be essentially the same that you use for your comcast mail (you may need to go into the settings of mail to comcast to get them because they probably put in place for you and you don't know them).  If you can get Microsoft Mail or Microsoft Live Mail to send and receive email, and then send yourself a Word attachment and then when you receive it see if you can open it.  If you can, then the problem is certainly their e-mail software (and you can prove to them telling them that it works with Microsoft Mail or Windows Live Mail).

A work around until the problem is resolved, just save attachments and then open documents saved - at least you will be able to access the information in this way until common sense is fixed.

If none of the works above, try posting your question in the online Forum to get Networking, E-mail, to: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistanetworking/threads where the people who specialize in problems like yours email will be more than happy to help you with your problem.

    I hope this helps.
