    Hello

Windows Defender features are included in MSE, defender of loading would be redundant.

    Windows Defender antispyware =

    MSE is antivirus + antispyware.

Then think about MSE as Windows Defender with more added (which is).

    ===========================================

Here's what I use and recommend:

Avast and Prevx proved extremely reliable and compatible with everything I threw at them.
Microsoft Security Essentials and Prevx have also proven very reliable and compatible.

Avast Home free - stop any shields is not necessary except away from Standard, Web and network is working.

    Prevx - Home - free

    Windows Firewall

Windows Defender (is not necessary if you use MSE)

    Protected IE - mode

IE 8 - SmartScreen filter WE (IE 7 phishing filter)

I also IE always start with asset if filter InPrivate IE 8.
(Sometimes you have to temporarily turn off with the little icon to the left of the + bottom right of IE)

Avast - stop home - free - all shields you do no need except leave Standard, Web and network running.
(Double-click the blue icon - details look OK. - upper left Shields - those that you do not cancel).
    http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Or use Microsoft Security Essentials - free
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

Prevx works well alongside MSE or Avast

Prevx - Home - small, fast, exceptional CLOUD free protection, working with other security programs. It comes
a scan only, VERY EFFICIENT, if it finds something to come back here or use Google to see how to remove.

    PCmag - Prevx - Editor's choice
    http://www.PCMag.com/Article2/0, 2817,2346862,00.asp

Also get Malwarebytes - free - use as scanner only. If you ever suspect malware, and that would be unusual with
Avast and Prevx running except a low occasional (not much), updated cookie and then run it as
a scanner. I have a lot of scanners and they never find anything of note that I started to use this configuration.

  • My laptop keeps turning off

I had problems with my Toshiba laptop for the last month or two. The problem is that he is himself put out more than inopertune time and I'm becoming more and more annoyed about it that the laptop just goes into stop for no reason at all. Sometimes it can happen 2 - 3 times a day.

Once I turn it on back rectifies itself through the Security screen, but sometimes it still does not allow Windows to start. This becomes a nightmare and it would happen now because it is near 3 years.

I am at a loss to explain this and would welcome any assistance.

This behavior is typical of the overheating of the material. Of course, on this virtual way I can't say with certainty if overheating is the reason for this, but I can't imagine that there is another reason.

I put t know how you use your computer laptop but don't forget laptop is always placed on the desktop and the ventilation openings are not blocked.

    Hello Ryankahlon,

Is the laptop to stop or restart?

If it restarts, then this could be an indication that we receive a blue screen and the machine is restarted before you can actually see.

If this is the case, we must do the following:

    1. Zipper upward the contents of the C:\windows\minidumps folder.
    2. Send the zip file in a public folder on http://skydrive.live.com.
    3. Post the link on this thread so that we can look at landfills.

If the machine is simply stop, then this could be a hardware problem.  We could also have a scheduled task updates to run every half hour which stops the machine.

Let us know if it is restart or stop and go from there, we will go.

    Best regards

    Hello

Could be heat related - try using a small fan to blow into the air intakes to see if that helps.

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

How to install a device driver in Vista Device Manager
    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-Device-Manager-install-driver.html

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver under Windows
Updates, that leaves about Windows updates but it will not install the drivers that will be generally
older and cause problems. If updates offers a new driver and then HIDE it (right click on it), then
get new manually if you wish.

    Hello

Could be linked to the heat, make sure that the computer has adequate ventilation, maybe use a small fan to
Add air flow. On a PC, the cards, the memory and the cable (both ends) will need to be reinstalled.
Remove all power and remove and replace those, don't do not just tight. Can't do that on a good laptop.
Also check the power supply Plan of Advanced Options to make sure there aren't some parameters here that cause
    power off.

Look in the Event Viewer to see if something is reported on those.

  • Whenever I have turn off my laptop and turn it back on, all my data disappears.

I'm using a thinkpad notebook issued by school (lenovo R400) that uses Windows Vista.  I know almost nothing about computers, but a couple of my friends know a little, and none of them were able to help me.  Every time (it happened three times) I turned off my laptop in the last three months or so, I turn it back on and everything disappeared.  I downloaded programs, backgrounds, music, documents, photos, videos - all of this.  Now, I checked the recycling bin, so I know that it has not been deleted.  Also, if I check what has changed recently, I can recover some of them.  I usually just let my laptop to sleep, so I turn rarely completely off.  The first time it happened, there were just two Documents folders, two folders of music, etc.  The next time it happened, they disappeared, but they have either finally came on their own after a few days, or me just messing them back.  As I am currently in College, it is very important that I can access everything I could have written this year.  It is a big problem for me, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Wireless connection keeps turning off when Asus A54C off

Hi, I just bought a 2nd hand laptop. I can't work on why the wireless capability will not stay connected all the time. Whenever I put it to sleep, restart, or stop it disconnects and I must manually reconnect the wireless every time I shoot under.

I adjusted all the settings of power, more I went to the Manager of devices and networks and unchecked the box where it says something about shut down to save power.

Troubleshooting indicates that the wireless feature is not enabled when I fix it manually each time

    Any suggestions?

Uninstalling the Wireless Console 3 software does the trick.
