How do you know if you have Windows 32 or 64-bit
Start > right click on computer
Select Properties
Under system, you will see listed Windows 32-bit or 64-bit
32-bit applications can run on 64-bit systems, but not vice versa
When you run older applications, you should consider the installation of XP Mode with Virtual PC for Windows 7 (free)

I have problems printing with my Brother MFC 7840W. The printer has been installed and uninstalled several times and drivers have. I always have unexplained mixed fonts & print sizes that appear in printed documents. It doesn't matter whether they are word documents or another program. It is not the document! This has been verified repeatedly. Computer experts maintain that it is a matter of Vista. Help!

Hello
- If it works well before?
- If so, what were the changes made before the issue started?
You can try to create a new user account and check. If it works in a new user account, then probably your user account have been damaged and would need a fix.
Create a user profile.

Printer Brother MFC-495CW will not work under Windows 7 64-bit
I have installed the Brother MFC-495CW printer on my laptop and the printer does not print. It shows the printer either 'ready' but 'offline' on the screeen status monitor. I tried to reset the print spooler and reinstalled the printer software several times. What should I do to get this printer to work.

All-in-one printer, Brother MFC-4800
I bought this product from brother because I trust the brand. Their products have lasted for me in the past and my MFC is always perfectly functional and worked until I installed some Windows updates on Windows. It was days after installing the updates I needed to print something, when I searched the brother and the Microsoft sites for a pilot updat they have both said that my model is no longer supported. I went back and uninstall updates, but the harm was done, and I couldn't get the device working. This is a MFC machine and because of that I relied on it heavily, print, scan, copy and fax. I have a printer inkjet color that I had to use, but you cannot print contracts with soluble ink in water. Therefore, I was printing on inkjet and using the brother to make copies of laser, the copy function is not dependent on pilot. This is ridiculous and inappropriate. I know they won't buy me another machine, but it will not be a brother because of that, I'm going to do my consumption of research reports and find something else. They should support the software for as long as the material. In addition I had bought three cartridges of toner at about $25 a month or two before that brother stopped supporting the unit. I'm very angry about this, that they either should have all pulled toner or sent stickers to the sellers warning of their intent to no longer support the device.
They have lost my business.

Unable to connect to a printer Brother MFC - 240 c to Windows 7 computer network
The computer of my network which is connected directly to the internet and my router is a computer running Windows Vista (32 bit). My computer is connected through the network to access the internet and the printer connected to the computer base. My computer was also under Vista and networking has worked well.
I installed Windows 7 (64-bit, not by choice, done automatically) on my computer and now I can't connect to the printer on the Vista machine. I can access the internet (even if it is significantly slower than when I had vista) and on basic computer file sharing, but I can not configure the printer. The printer is a Brother MFC - 240 c
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.Thank you
I'm assuming you get an error indicating that the print driver for 64-bit is not installed in the Vista machine. You can either install a 64-bit driver that has the same name as the x 86 driver on the Win7 machine printing and reattempt the connection, install the 64-bit driver that has the same name on the Vista computer (for other 64-bit machines), but it's more difficult.
Alternatively, you can set the machine to check Windows Update for a printer driver that has the same name as the 32-bit print driver. If gpedit.mcs run for the version of Windows you have.

Extend the point and print for windows update research connectionIf there is no matching driver name, you cannot make a RPC connection, but you can create an SMB connection. Search for Local Port. There are many posts on this.
