Why the system keep application that I have download Flash 8.0.0?

Mac G5. Final Tiger.

Sometimes I listen to audio online from various sources without problem.

Sometimes when I try to do, I get a message (or a button) for download Flash 8.0.0. I did it several times. Once the application is installed (I know that it is), I can click on this audio file, and up comes the same message/button again to d/l Flash 8.0.0.

If I try to find the Flash on my system, it's somehow not not clear to me what I found.

Let me try it right now and see what happens to the top (I'll summarize):

Spotlight using my "Top Hit" say 'Adobe Flash Player install Manager.' When I open it gives me the choice to leave or uninstall, but no version number. And if Flash 8 or a later version is indeed installed, how do I know where he is? (It may indeed be a plugin somewhere - but-?) I also here and there on the records marked the Flash 6 or 7. An example in/Applications/Adobe Extension Manager CS4 / Samples. One more in my Library/Preferences/Macromedia folder (even if I don't use some Macromedia applications).

Now, let me check my plug-ins for Safari (latest version): there is a Shockwave Flash. There's this: "verified download Plugin - the 'VerifiedDownloadPlugin.plugin' file, but no additional information. I also click to Flash 1.5.5.

What is my best course of action here? And I thank you.

You can see your version of fp here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html

in the future, ignore a message recommending that you download fp 8.  This is an old version and probably the creator of this flash player detector is using obsolete code giving you the wrong information.
