Why two local drives appear on my PC if I have one?

Why two local drives appear on my PC if I have one?

It seems to be the partition of 100 MB of the system default, but she appears on 'My PC' or 'computer '...
I leave it there or what should I do?
Thanks to all for the replies! :)

The 100 MB System Partition is created by Windows 7 during installation and it is usually hidden in almost all cases. What might have happened in your computer, it is that, somehow, a drive letter has been assigned to that partition, and this is why it is displayed in the window of your computer. You can delete the associated with the System Partition drive letter on your computer to make this new hidden partition. You must not remove or make changes within this partition, it will leave your computer in the absence of priming.

To remove the drive letter of the System Partition:

1. click on Start, type diskmgmt.msc in the search box and press ENTER to open the disk management window.
2. right click on the partition system booked about 100 MB of size in question and then click change drive letters or paths.
Note: Be careful here, do not make any changes to the drive letter assigned to the other partitions in the computer, which would be a disaster.
3. then in the pop box - next up, Select the drive letter assigned to the partition, and then click Remove.
4. There will be a couple of guests you say that if you remove the drive letter, some programs that rely on drive letter may stop working, you can safely accept these guests. Once you are done by clicking OK in these pop-ups, close all open windows and restart the computer.

You shouldn't see that partition in the window of the computer now. It will be useful.

  • 27-a010 all-in-One Pavilion: why the hard drive from my old computer Toshiba displayed on my new HP c drive?

I got this new computer on Monday. The reason why I bought a new was that I suspected that my old Toshiba got compromised. I even bought a new Linksys router that was AC 1900. My new HP computer has McAfee and uses MicrosoftEdge browser. There are several interesting questions, I hope that experts from HP can answer for me.

    1. why my old Toshiba drive appears on the hard drives in the Device Manager?

    2. Why are there readers D two on disk management? Can't update my Windows 10. I bought a new computer.

    3. why hiberfil.sys and pagefile.sys, swapfile.sys, BOOTNXT appear on my drive C Windows?

The above synptoms are normal? I need to do something about these questions or just leave them along? I have a microsoft all in one account.

    Thanks for the reply.

    Hello

I don't see your screen but:

    1. new machine uses Toshiba HDD, not your old machine of Toshiba. HP uses HARD disks with many suppliers, including Toshiba.

    2. Yes, it is normal. One with the file system is the real, without file system is a shadow one.

    3. normally, they are hidden system files, you can hide them if you wish.

    Kind regards.

  • Redirection problem strange local drive - white icons

Someone has seen this before and no one knows the cause/solution?

What is happening on our test/development configuration and our production environment (vWorkspace 7.1).

When a user connects to a Windows 7 VDI session local endpoints devices are directed through, as shown here:

But... when the same user connects to a Win2008 R2 RDS session, the redirected folders are missing and you get white icons that are inactive.

The user is using folder redirection to move its profile folders (AppData, etc.) on a network share...

Endpoints tested 2 with are Windows 7.

Any ideas why this might be happening?

    See you soon,.

    Dan.

Possibly a registry hive capturing the issue (or lack thereof).

On the test in question account, there is no record capturing the policies put in place for the user. I set it up to capture booty HKCU\Software\Microsoft and HKCU\Control Panel.

    The client drives appear now.

I will tune the registry capturing next week.

Odd. Don't know if it's an underlying problem of the RDP/RDS but at least theres an autour work.

I'm going to blame another admin here for now!

    Dan.

  • local drives

I recently had my Presario replaced SR5550F HD (old one crashed).  I am running VISTA. I use an external hard drive LaCie FW for all my data, I call my LaCie J; drive.  It has 3 partitions, I:, J: and K: I use I have; for all of my data. J & K: are empty. Since the internal HD replacement, I noticed in the Explorer who, in addition to the local disk C: and local drive J; He has also filed a "network drive" designation (name of the home drive) j (Z.)  It has the same data as my partition I: on the external J: drive.  I do not understand why it shows up as a network drive.  The problem (I guess it can be bound) is that very often, when I boot I do not receive my J: drive and I get a message saying "Coul not reconnect all network drives.  It is obvious immediately, because my wallpaper is located on the external data drive.  I'm not the letter of the system and have no idea how solve this.  The only solution I found is to stop, then restart, in which case it connects.  Of course, this is getting really old.  Suggestions, please?

    Hello djangobill,

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the Forums of HP, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

I understand that you are having problems with your computer does not connect a network drive that have not mapped you. Accually according to what you said in your post you have mapped when you set your wallpaper to an image on the usb drive. The system created an internal mapping that image and when he starts the load operating system before your USB hard drive is added and it loses the connection to cause you all this grief. You have two options, as I see it.

You can move the image from the external drive on your local disk and reset it as your wallpaper. As the operating system would break the link with the old image it is more to keep the internal mapping and your problem should be solved.

Your other option is to go into your BIOS and enable Legacy devices, it would load your USB to first image mapped to be accessible when the operating system is going to get him.

I hope I have shed light on the question for you. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • ESXi 5.5 U1 does not detect to install local drives on HP DL380 G7 during

    Hello

I am new to testing with vmware ESXi 5.5.

I did an instalation on the old server (DL380 G5), which was fine (I didn't add drivers to monitor health P400 control).

I'm now trying to intall ESXi 5.5. U1 on HP DL380 G7 with HP Smart Array P410i controller and attached is a HP StorageWorks NAS too.

I'm having a problem where my local drives are not detected during installation. NAS logical drives are detected.

    The processor is E5620.

I first tried with the image not specified for HP, then also that I found good site HP, two ESX 5.5 U1. Same behavior.

I have still a start-up Win 2 K 3 R2 on the server and the array controller works fine, there are 3 SAS RAID1 + spare drives. A logical drive.

I updated FW P410i version 6.00 - 2. I ran 8.7 B PSP update which can be updated. Still no effect. I even tested it on its host (without updateing) 2nd future cluster, but it does the same thing.

I pressume I do something wrong maybe, because it detects old Array P400 controllers on other places, so should it also the new.

Can't really change the controller of Bay physically, as I do remotely.

Tips are welcome. If more information is needed, I'll be happy to add it.

    Thank you

    Karl

I don't know why... but the local drive was there, it was only listed as a remote control.

  • Two sets of two short beeps appear during the priming of the old Satellite Pro series

Laptop was upgraded and repaired, with the new memory, DVD and hard drive in April.
    Also XP SP3 isntalled.

Last week, I turned it on and windows was loading, I've heard two sets of two short beeps.
Rest of the laptop seems to work ok, bar NIVDIA towers problems when I turn off, but I have now the laptop as I want and I worry about those beeps. Of course, guaranteed for repair was three months, and who is just exhausted.

Oh woe is me. Can anyone? I can't reinstall everyting all again. Too old.

A surfer very silvery with a phobia of beep.

Hmm. I m using CCleaner also but just to clean the files in time and repair the registry, I never hear two beeps in missing hardware/driver, so for me, this does not look like CCLeaer that would solve...
But two beeps sometimes appear when starting the laptop, this could be the sound POST (self-test notification under tension).

However, you should also check if these two beeps would be available after the installation of new OS (new installation).

    Welcome them

  • Can I use two hard drives in the Qosmio G40-10th

Anyone know if it is possible to install two hard drives in this laptop. I read simewhere that it had to be two slots hard drive in it?
If so where is it located?
Ther would be all issues around extra heat that could be generated etc.?

I have had mine for about 5/6 months and have had a screen replaced (defective backlight).
Many other people have had problems?

I wonder if its worth buy the extended warranty.

    See you soon.
    Sunil

    Hello

As far as I know this laptop takes support only a single HARD disk.
Check the underside of the laptop. Do you see a second slot (cover) the second HDD?
I imagine that it has a single HARD drive Bay, and so only a single HARD disk can be used.

I m not a G40 owner and, therefore, I cannot comment on any other issue.
But each computer technology may start to malfunction it is why I always recommend buying an extended warranty.

    Best regards

  • Satellite P300 with two hard drives

    Hi all

I have a Satellite P300 1 9, which seems to have two hard drives of 250 GB. A (Hitachi) is partitoned 'Vista C and E Data' and the other (Toshiba) is listed as drive had ' which is empty. If I right click on anything, say a document, and select ' send to ' I don't have the option to send to the D drive. How to store data on this drive?

    Thank you

    cheven.

If your laptop has two hard disks, it clearly appears in Windows Explorer.
The first HARD disk is divided into two partitions, and on the second partition, which belongs to the first HARD drive, you will see folder HDDRecovery (do not remove the second HARD drive).

Deleting files is the same as on the withdrawal between the two partitions. It is the WXP/Vista basic know-how.

  • Why do my files appear in all directories

Original title: Windows 7 backup file

I know I'm missing something, so I need some help, please. I have Windows 7 with Office 2007. When I open my directories there are 4: Documents, music, photos and videos. I tried to open a file in the Documents and I have seen the same document in the other directories and also listed under my Computer OS (C). Why do my files appear in all directories? Please advise me.

E-mail address is removed from the privacy *.

It is a forum for peer-to-peer volunteers.

It may take some time for people to respond.

Directories such as the 'Documents', 'Music', 'Images' and 'Vidéo' are really (in the way which view you them from the menu of the Start button or office) "links" to the actual locations.

    • 'Documents' folder is in one place:
      %UserProfile%\Documents
    • Your "Music" folder is in one place:
      %UserProfile%\Music
    • Your "Pictures" folder is in one place:
      %UserProfile%\Pictures
    • Your 'Vidéo' folder is in one place:
      %UserProfile%\Videos

'%UserProfile%' is an environment variable which translates by (your computer translated for you when typed in / used) the path for the connected on the user profile directory.  By default, this would be C:\USERS\USERNAME.

Now - there are "Public" places in each of these users on the same computer could share things between them.  These places is...

    • %PUBLIC%\Documents
    • %PUBLIC%\Music
    • %PUBLIC%\Pictures
    • %PUBLIC%\Videos

The mention "PUBLIC %" is an environment variable which translates by (your computer translated for you when typed in / used) the path to the directory of the user PUBLIC profile.  By default, this would be C:\USERS\PUBLIC.

And if that's not enough for you - there is a way to be able to view each of these folders (your Documents and public acts, your music and music Public, etc.) in one accessible place - by using the feature of "libraries".

Even when viewed using libraries - however - the physical location is always singular.  If you put something in 'Documents', it is (by default) will '% USERPROFILE%\Documents' (C:\USERS\YOURUSERNAME\Documents\) and not the case elsewhere.  You should be able to see from the icon from your desktop to the 'Documents' or 'Documents' library, but they are just pointers/links/fancy shortcuts to the ACTUAL physical location on disk represented by '% USERPROFILE%\Documents' (C:\USERS\YOURUSERNAME\Documents\).

    Make sense?

Think more if it is not.  Here's the easy way:

Your stuff is on this drive here:

    • %UserProfile%\Documents (default: C:\USERS\YourUsername\Documents)
    • %UserProfile%\Music (default: C:\USERS\YourUsername\Music)
    • %UserProfile%\Pictures (default: C:\USERS\YourUsername\Pictures)
    • %UserProfile%\Videos (default: C:\USERS\YourUsername\Videos)

You can just get in these physical locations via different paths.  They all end up in the same end-location real.  You do not have many copies of the files.  (You have not more than one copy of this large video file that you created, UNLESS you make a copy.  "It is SIMPLY stored in %USERPROFILE%\Videos (C:\USERS\YourUsername\Videos).)

  • How to remove the backup files in the rescue and recovery on local drive

I need more space on my hard drive and for a year have been backup to a drive for expansion.  However, I kept the base and a backup on the local drive. I tried to remove the base backup, since it was listed in "show all the backups" on the "local" drive However, it still appears in 'show all the backups' - in the local drive.  I see now that I actually deleted the 'base' on the USB. I see no way to delete the backups in the local drive. How can I delete the backups to the local disk?

RNR does support only 1 location of target, in your case, local backup or USB.

If you change the location to the USB, it will ask "delete backups on Local.  If you say no, it will keep local backups and start on USB. View backups should ONLY list target current place of residence.  In your case, USB.  You said delete Basic, yes he deleted based on USB.

Go to the RNR, menu, advanced and post a screenshot of the view backups.  Do not use the main pane.

    (1) change the local location.  You can remove LOCAL.  Then replace location USB.

    (2) uninstall the RNR.  This will remove \RRbackups on drive C.  Replace.

The main panel (simple opinion) may use registry values to list all backups while the Advanced menu should list ONLY the target location.
