Why Vista could ' t show that he was soon to be updated the password? __

Hi, this is my problem on Vista, I wish someone can help me with this, thank you!

I work in a field. On the computer that acts as a domain controller, I use the domain Group Policy Editor to set that if the password of the domain user must soon be updated, Windows will remember when I log on to the computer with the user account. Can I manually set the time on the domain controller system, if a domain user specified"PasswordTest"(I use to test the user) should soon be updated.

On another computer running Vista in the default domain, I mean, the value of theUserinitentry under the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

the value ""C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe, ", "

When I connect on Vista with the user "PasswordTest", Windows prompts you for a ToolTip indicating that the password will be soon obsoletexxxdays shortly after that the desktop. It's what I expected.

But if I change the value of Userinitentry to be"D:\test\CallUserinit.exe",(hereCallUserinit.exeis a test application based on dialogue that does nothing, but simply startsC:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe using CreateProcess() when the button in the dialog box is clicked and then comes out) and then again connect to Vista with the user'PasswordTest'.

As expected, I enter the user name and password, then my test application has started up, I clicked on the button, it finished soon and Windows has continued its process of opening session. But this window of time do not encourage a ball showing that the password will be soon obsolete xxxdays after Office has been shown. This troubled me.

"If I put again the Userinit entry value to the original value"C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe, ", it doesn't have this problem.

If someone could help me with this? Thank you very much!

Hello Grooove,

Your question of Windows Vista is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums. It is better suited for the IT Pro TechNet public. Please ask your question in the Technet Windows Vista Security Forum or Technet Group Policy Forum. Thank you!
