Why windows 8 will not let me save files whenever I want?

My computer is Windows 8.

I'm the only user.

I have administrator privileges.

I tried to save a Notepad edited readme file in a subfolder of the Program Files (x 86).

... had the message "you have authorization to the administrator to register here.

the only buttons were "save in My Documents" or "Cancel".

reluctantly, I've saved in My Documents then had to navigate through the file Explorer to try to move the file to the folder of the program that's...

This has been hampered by an application for authorization to the administrator to continue but finally managed to put the file where I wanted it to go.

It's security gone mad!

Sorry for the inconvenience.  It is an expected behavior, as you say, it became crazy about security.  If you can inject files in there, cannot therefore nothing that runs with your credentials.  As plugins and web browsers work with your credentials, a compromised Web site could inject files into files of program without your knowledge.  This security prevents your system being affected by malicious software.

Most users have very rarely to save a file in this location.  In fact, more than 99.2% of the users would never do that based on Windows 7 telemetry data.

This small gene on the rare occasion that you could do that will keep your system secure.  However, you are the administrator, and if you want, you are free to remove this security, if you choose.

Please note that probably you will need to remove this Windows 7 license Enterprise, as it may be to use KMS activation, which is linked to your local college.

Windows 7 Enterprise volume license customer and is only allowed to customers with a volume license agreement that deploy Windows 7 in bulk.

Your copy of Windows 7 uses KMS licenses, which requires he reactivates the licence every 180 days (6 months) by connecting to the KMS host computer. The KMS host is usually hosted on the domain in your workplace where the license was issued. Reactivation can be done by authenticating to the field of work (log in) or VPN to your network.

Otherwise, you can contact your COMPUTER administrator for assistance or consider getting a MAK key that works more like a sale at retail and no key requires no reactivation every 180 days.

Do not use 'Clear history of Firefox closing' to clear the 'browsing history '.

Using the "Show my windows and tabs from last time" is a more reliable way to restore the session data.

  • How do I give myself PERMANENT, tirelessly administrator privileges? It's MY COMPUTER, I should be able to save files WHENEVER I WANT WHENEVER I want TO

This is GARBAGE! Windows tells me I can't save files in a particular directory, redirect me to My Documents instead. I am then allowed to copy the file to the directory I want, but I should be able to register here first. It is absurd and tedious and DOES NOTHING. I'm tired to be attached to these inept security restrictions and I want to get a PERMANENT ADMIN who doesn't have to suffer through 1 million boxes of dialogue and workarounds to SAVE A FILE in THE DIRECTORY OF MY CHOOSING.

I am the only user on the computer! Why? Why can't I do what I want, when I want? Should never have gone from Mac.

  • Windows 8 will not let me move the AppData\Local folder to new drive

    All,

I wanted to get my user account files from C drive which is a smaller SSD drive at most of my hard drive. I encountered several problems.

A lot of trial and error, I was able to move each file of folder of the user account to an identical structure on my drive D (a "spinner"). Once I worked on all the kinks, everything worked without problems.

However, I was unable to move the hidden AppData folder. I discovered there are three subfolders: roaming local and LocalLow. I was able to move LocalLow and roaming without problem. However, Local gave me problems.

I discovered that the Local had some folders and files under it for which I have no permissions. Once I gained permissions for them, I thought I was on my way. The command to move the folder (using the Properties dialog box) has started working on the transition of 79 000 files. He moved all but 19 of them. He choked on all 12-15 files that have been opened and used by the system and the balance of the 19 had too long of a file name. So, I was disappointed.

I then decided to create another administrator account and the sign of the current account and connect to the temporary administrator account that I had just created. I thought that I could then move the files because they would not be opened and used by the system. But, when I open the Properties dialog box, the LOCATION tab was gone, so I could not move the files.

I need answers to two questions:

    • Why Microsoft would give the user a LOCATION tab with a NAVIGATION button, if it was impossible to move the AppData\Local folder?
    • Is there another way that a layman like me can change this setting? Can someone direct me to here? (Such as it is, 2 of the 3 AppData files are on drive D and 1 is always the SSD C drive.)

    Thank you.

    Matt

OK, I fixed using a symbolic link. I moved my complete record of users. Here are the steps I used:

    • Create a folder on the "C" drive, called "this_is_c" and create a folder on the disk "D", called "this_is_d" - it is only for identification purposes in the later stages.
    • Boot from the Windows 8 Pro disc. (In other words, will not start hard drive.)
    • Do not choose 'Install now' - choose ' repair you computer.
    • Then choose troubleshooting
    • Choose Advanced Options
    • Then choose command line
    • The player that appears corresponds to the player 'X' - which is the recovery disk.
    • Type "C:" to switch to the 'C' drive
    • Type "Dir" and see if you see the folder "this_is_c".
    • If you do not, continue to change letters until you see this folder.
    • It worked that the 'C' drive during this "repair" was maybe the same as my 'C' drive when I boot normally.
    • Find the "D" drive through the same process - that is, try to find the folder "this_is_d".
    • It worked that the "D" drive during this "repair" was maybe the same as my "D" drive when I boot normally.
    • Type this command: xcopy/e/k/o/h/b c:\Users d:\Users see the next chip
    • First drive name must be the name of the drive as the "repair" attributed to your normal boot drive 'C '. The second disc should be burned as it would be during a normal boot. So, in my case, these conditions were the same. Note: use a capital 'U' for users instead of lowercase 'u' in users.
    • Type "D" when prompted.
    • Type the following command: rd /s c:\Users
    • Type this command: mklink /d c:\Users d:\Users
    • Type this command: exit
    • Continue to start.

This will create a symbolic link that will redirect all actions to or from users on 'C' folder in the new folder users on "D". In regards to windows system knows, he is still sending the disk of 'C '. It is just redirected.

This works perfectly for me. I installed apps and run programs without problem.

It's a sort of understand. But it works for me.

  • Windows vista will not let upgrade me to windows 7

had a new hard drive installed on my pc. recovered to the factory specifications and reinstalled PC windows7 home premium.  had worse transtering the backup data.  so I got the pc again, but this time it will not be upgraded because must be running Vista Home Basic sp1.  so I installed the service with some difficulty, but the message indicates that sp1 was intstalled successfully and vista won't upgrade.

Perform a custom installation of Windwos 7 on Windows Vista:

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

  • "Windows 7 will not let iTunes 11 Internet access."

I am using Windows 7 32 bit on a laptop computer with ZoneAlarm free firewall/antivirus and Firefox 17.0.1 browser (do not use IE 8 and IE 9 will not even load, so crazy that).  I had no problems with iTunes, Internet access until about two or three Windows updates there, when I was still with iTunes 10.x, I thought that maybe an update to iTunes was in order, so I did and updated to iTunes 11.  That didn't connect to the internet, so I deleted, close ZoneAlarm and reinstalled iTunes.  Still no Internet access even if I have an active Internet connection.  I ran the diagnostic iTunes and found this Windows Firewall - which * he * stop when running ZoneAlarm - does not allow iTunes outgoing access, so I fixed.  Still nothing and it is with the browser able to connect to the network, so I don't know Internet access in itself is not the problem.  I have so stop and you exit ZoneAlarm. still nothing.  Verified that welcomed iTunes Windows Firewall outgoing; It does (in theory; at least she said it does), but STILL nothing!

It's stupid, because iTunes worked fine until recently.  Is there something other past here between Windows 7 and iTunes I should know about?  Help!

  • Windows 7 will not allow a batch file to run.

I created a batch file.  Double-clicking it in Explorer lights up only the Publisher.  It runs in a command window does the editor.  That is what it is?

Should it run in Compatibility Mode for Windows XP (SP3) maybe? Right click, select Properties , and then make the changes in the compatibility tab.

You didn't mention what your batch file has been written to do, but it must run an command with administrator privileges prompt?

To start an elevated command prompt, click Start and type CMD but do not press ENTER. Find the program listed above CMD and right click and select run as administrator.

If this does not work the script file, you will need to click right on the. BAT or. CMD and select Properties. Under the tab compatibility , under privilege level, check the run as Administrator option. This should be performed by the users of the human resources of the computer, click on change settings for all users and make your changes as well.

  • System won't let me save files where I want. It says Contact admiistrator. There is none. It's just me. How can I say this stupid OS I AM the administrator, so I can save things where I want to save them to?

I want to be the administrator

You forgot to tell us where you try to save files. You may be trying to save them in directories protected like the root of %systemdrive%\lopr.txt, Program Files or Windows. After you protect the directories is common with many modern exploitation, not only Windows Vista and Windows 7 systems. It's a good thing if you think that whether or not.

What is not not the administrator, even if you are running in an administrator account (no best practices - see below), you still need to raise the privilege when overall changes to the operating system.

If you try to save files in your user directory and failing, please let us know. Otherwise the OS works as expected. If you find it too shocking, then you can always switch to another operating system. However, be aware that you will find the same 'limitations' in Linux and OS X. And nobody knows what he/she does would run as root under Linux.

You don't have your system set up optimal about users. You absolutely don't want to have only one user account. As XP and all the other modern operating systems, Vista and Windows 7 are OS multi-user with system built-in accounts such as administrator, by default, all users and guest. These accounts should be left alone because they are part of the structure of the operating system.

In particular, you do not want account only one user with administrator privileges on Vista and Windows 7 because the administrator account integrated (normally only used in emergencies) is disabled by default. If you use as an administrator for your daily work, and this account is corrupt, things will be difficult. It is not impossible to activate the built-in administrator to rescue things, but it will take third-party tools and work outside the operating system.

The user account that is for your daily work must be a Standard user, with the extra administrative user (call it something like 'CompAdmin' or 'Tech' or similar) only it for elevation purposes. As a user Standard is recommended for security reasons and will help protect your computer against infections. After you have created "CompAdmin", connect to it and change your normal user account Standard. Then log on to your regular account.

If you want to go directly to the desktop and ignore the Welcome screen with the icons of the user accounts, you can do this:

Start Orb > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null).
