Win 7 install disc?

Hi, I have a new laptop G550, which I am very satisfied. I am also pleased with Win7. But I want to get a rather than relying on the hidden partition Win7 install disc. Is this possible? In addition, the hidden partition has no equivalent to the Win 7 Recovery Console?

Thank you

Borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • Mouse and keyboard not working only not with the ERD in Windows 7 and Windows 7 install disc

I have a Dell XPS 8700.  I just did an upgrade to an SSD.  The DSS started once with no problems, then it wouldn't start.  I get an error message 1 MBR.

If I do a F12, I am able to boot from the SSD drive and everything works fine, but if any process requires a reboot it will not work.  IE, windows update that requires a restart does not update because it cannot restart.

To fix the MBR, use either the repair or install disk to get to the command line.  I have two drives and when I boot with them I get the initial screen of language/keyboard and mouse and keyboard do not work.  I have the keyboard and mouse installed in USB 2.0 ports, their was also in 3.0 ports with the same results.  They work fine until the disc over to install the files, and then they die.  I tried 2 different sets of keyboards and mice with the same results.

I also tried to use the Dell recovery disk and it did find and supposed to solve a problem when I ran in the beginning.  But I still get the MBR error.  The disc is represented and it did not find any problems and I wanted to reinstall windows back to the factory.

Suggestions as to how to get my mouse and keyboard work again with the repair and install discs would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Navneet,

    Thank you for responding.

Did you change the computer other than the upgrade to an SSD?

Yes, I have, but that was before the SSD.  I upgraded the video card and added a 1 TB of HARD drive data.

What is the complete error message you get on the MBR?

    The message reads as follows;

"MBR 1 error.  Press any key to boot from floppy. »

There is no floppy drive installed and I even tried to start with only the connected SSD.

    Are you an error code?

    No error code.

As for changing the BIOS, I am not satisfied with messing with the BIOS, if this isn't an option.

After thinking about this problem, I think that Dell has disabled somehow able to use disc repair/install "Windows".  I say this because they have disabled the ability to create a disk to repair Windows out of the Dell system and cannot create a Dell recovery disk.  Also because Dell has changed the MBR it wouldn't do any good to reset the MBR to the default value of Windows and the Dell recovery disk does not give you the ability to recover the MBR manually only.

I decided that the best option was to do a clean reinstall of the OS, and that's what I did.  Everything works great for now.   It is a PITA, but nothing that I have not done before.

    Thanks again for your help...

  • Satellite M40: Win XP install after crash problem - ser.number system

    Hello

I would ask you what I'll do. I bought new computer toshiba satellite m40 laptop about 5 years in London.
There was no Win XP Recovery cd (no partition recovery on the hard disc as well), just cd with drivers of toshiba in the box. Now my system crashed.

Took me a long time to understand what it was. (BSOD - 'not ACPI-compliant') I almost tried everything same format of HARD drive.
Later I completely dismantled cell, cleaned up the dust inside and it works again - no BSOD.

Now I need to install my WinXP back. So I downloaded Windows XP service pack 3 CD and tried to install it.
It won't take my serial number I have on a sticker on my toshiba.

Please help me, what should I do?

I paid for WinXP (System was included in the price) and now I can't use it.

    > There was no Win XP Recovery cd (no partition recovery on the hard disc as well), just cd with drivers of toshiba in the box.

I put t think that recovery disk came with the laptop.
Recovery disk shipped with the laptop from the M40 because it s an old series of laptop and drive HARD recovery was not available on this old laptop series. If HDD recovery is not available and that the Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator was not preinstalled, then you will always get a disc of recovery with Notepad.

Therefore, I am sure this recovery disk was part of the package as the other disks (disk s, tools and utilities in Toshiba driver base) were part of the package.

The point is that the serial number which is a space at the bottom of the unit belongs to the operating system on the recovery disk.
Generally, you may not use other Windows systems.
The recovery disc has already been activated, and therefore, it was not necessary to activate it again.

Please check this page of order recovery disk Toshiba:
    https://backupmedia.Toshiba.EU/landing.aspx
Here you can order recovery disks, but I do not know if your laptop is still supported because it 5 years.

  • Reinstall Windows 7 on hard drive again with only the Win 7 Upgrade disc?

So I have an e9180t which, like clockwork, freezes after about an hour or two after the boot.  I thought it might be the curse of bad mothers, with what they came, but I hope that it is something else so test everything I can.  I noticed that it does not freeze upwards when it is started in safe mode with network.  The hard drive failed the test SMART so I wonder if it's time to replace it as if that has anything to do with the crash.   I can move the cursor, but no applications will be open and eventually everything becomes insensitive causing be tohit the power button to restart.   I already stopped unnecessary startup programs and it will still freeze in unsafe mode.

The PC came with Vista and I think it's what's on backup hard disk partition.  I have the disk Win 7 Upgrade from HP.  My questons are-

    1. If I buy a new HD 7 upgrade disc will be enough to install the full version of Win 7?

    2. anything else I should do when I install the new HD and more to reactivate Windows?

    Thank you.

    Hi Mike,.

Have you created a HP recovery disk to reinstall the factory image when replacing the HARD drive?

It sounds like you have maybe a problem creating the recovery discs now.

A Smart HARD drive test failure points to a HDD failure. The symptoms you are experiencing are likely caused by this fact. You can also have a card mother or any other hardware problem.

You have the key to drive and Win 7 Upgrade product.

I'm pretty sure that the upgrade to Windows 7 to be launched from Win Vista. The upgrade of Windows 7 is a full installation of Windows, so this isn't the problem. But he can't run the installation unless you start the upgrade in Win Vista. Normally, an upgrade to Windows 7 is launched within the current operating system, Win 7 valid existence of an eligible OS Setup and then request a restart to complete the installation of upgrade.

You can replace the HARD drive and try to install Win 7 itself. If this fails and you do not have the Vista recovery discs, you can buy an HP recovery disc set here. There are three different versions. Select one that corresponds to the operating system that is installed at the factory.

You may have another problem to replace the HDD with a Format HDD advanced most recent. Please see thisHP Supportdocument for more information.

If you cannot install the upgrade Windows 7 itself or Win Vista because of the issue of the Advanced Format HARD drive, you may need to purchase a copy of Windows 7 OEM.

  • Win 7 install cannot see hard drive

My office has a dual boot with two RAID 0 configuration bays (2 x 40 GB SSD Corsair and 2 x 230 GB Seagate Barracuda) with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit on each table. I wanted to convert the largest to a standard IDE configuration with a clean install of Windows 7. I disconnected one of the 230 disc gig and put the other 230 as an IDE drive in the Intel Storage Manager. Now, it appears in the BIOS and I can see as a D: drive in Windows, but Windows 7 install do not.

With most large raid so disabled both Windows 7 boot choice appeared again during the boot, but of course that one can load. I tried to fix things with msconfig, which showed the two BONES, and I removed the disabled. But Windows 7 install again does not see the drive of 230 gig. (It's the disk Win 7 Upgrade btw)

How can I resolve this installation issue?

    (1) you remove the existing partition and reformat the hard drive before installing Windows 7 on it? If this is not the case, do.

    (2) also the 230 GB drive must be connected to a standard SATA (Non RAID) port before installing Windows.

What drives when using two pairs as RAID configurations has the "System" partition, it was the SSD drives or disks Seagate 2 x 230. I guess the system partition is on the SSD you can still start Windows with only the connected Yes SSD?  If Yes, then the steps 1 & 2 above are still valid.

No matter where it was purchased, there must be a logo and/or a label somewhere that shows the make and model. You will need to know in order to proceed

That the machine does not start on the desktop, the only safe way to get your data off is to remove the disc, put it in a USB enclosure and attach it to your laptop. This will void the warranty of course.

However, in some cases, the process of 'back to the factory' will save data for you, but not always...

Get Windows back to how it was when you bought everything first... Your computer is equipped with a recovery instead of disk partition...

This is how the recovery partition is accessible to most popular brands...

For Dell, press F8 on the keyboard until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears on the screen.

For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For LG, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For Toshiba, press and hold "0" BEFORE and during the power upward

For Acer, press and hold ALT + F10, as soon as you see the logo

For Asus, press F9, as soon as you see the Asus logo.

For Samsung, press F4 to the power upward...

For Fujitsu, press the F8 key directly after the power

Advent, restart your computer. Then, press F10 repeatedly until the message "Starting system recovery"

Sony VAIO, reboot and press "F8" or "F10" repeatedly until the screen "Advanced Boot Options".

For gateway, if your computer came with Windows XP, however, press 'F11' to access the hidden partition on the gateway logo screen. If Windows Vista or Windows 7 cannot start, press 'Alt' and 'F10' on the home screen to launch the recovery software. Read more: http://www.ehow.com/info_12215668_cannot-open-recovery-partition-gateway-pc.html#ixzz2pNRUfuny

You may need to try several times to get everything above to work. If after several attempts, you have no chance, or the machine indicates that there is no recovery partition, your only option is to contact the computer manufacturer and ask for the model recovery discs...

After the reset, you should get all the updates from Windows Update EXCEPT for hardware devices. Then, you install a good antivirus. ONLY AFTER you have done this, if you replace the stuff of backups or install anything else.

  • How can I find that a windows 7 install disc to go with the key on my laptop?

Hello. For various reasons I had to format and reinstall windows on my lenovo think mobile W520. I have his activation code, but I don't have any sort of recovery disk. I have a 7 HP windows retail disc that I used for my office, but installation that will not let me activate with the key to the laptop. And naturally the key that came with the drive is in use. How can I find an installation disc that works with the key provided with the laptop? (AFAIK, lenovo site software all assume you have something to recover; in my case, the drive is formatted, and as far as I know, there is nothing to use to retrieve).

No doubt you had failed to create the Lenovo recovery disks according to the instructions of Lenovo, and the hidden restore partition no longer exists?

Download you the ISO that matches what you had, ISO, burning software to create the dvd. You must install the drivers for Lenovo support, and of course you will have none of the pre-installed Lenovo utilities
