Win 7 OS linked to the bios of the motherboard can it be changed?

A few weeks ago, I bought a new laptop Presario CQ 57 339 of WM.   It came with Windows 7 installed, of course.  I tried to get used to this OS, but I can't stand, it makes me crazy.  I'm an experienced user, I had a PC since first they came out.  I formatted and partitioned... hard drives together, 9 yards but this is the first time that I ran into a situation where I can't remove an operating system and install another.  I bought... ... BOUGHT a new XP package to replace the OEM Win 7, but it is not allowing me to use it.  It seems to me now that the OS is related to the card motherboard/Bios, (that I didn't know when I bought the laptop), I can't change the operating system to one that I prefer, not Linux, not XP, not anything.  My question is this: this designation in the BIOS can be changed?  I can't take much more of my blood pressure rising on all issues with Win 7.  I really need to get rid of him, or to sell the laptop and buy a refurbished with XP installed.  Indeed, if the PC is on the disappearance, this must be one of the reasons - the forced control put on the buyer now when they buy a computer.  It's like buying a frying pan and then discover, you can only use one brand of eggs when you want to make your breakfast.

Thanks for your help!

Mary

Hi, married:

The reason why you have trouble to install XP is that XP is too old to have the new disk controller drivers preloaded, and on a consumer notebook, there is no setting in the BIOS to change the emulation to disk controller to a legacy (IDE) mode.

So, the lower upgrade guide is good, but you really need this first guide and read the section on Intel chipsets that will give you the advice you need to integrate the SATA AHCI controller drivers in a copy of your XP disc using nLite.

http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-operating-systems-and/SATA-drivers-for-XP-solution-on-0x0000007B-BSOD/TD-p/114120

Under the Intel section, use the first method on the wake all the drivers. Don't bother precisely tailored that you need for installation.

I attach the files that you must wake below.

  • The size of the book can be easily changed?

    Hello

I'm all new to InDesign.  I intend to use it to write a book.  I wonder if the dimensions/dimensions of the book can be easily changed?  For example, if I start doing a book with InDesign with dimensions of 6 x 9 and then later, when I contact the company with that I decide to print, I find that they print only 8 x 11, could the dimensions be easily modified?  I guess that's a silly question, because the more I think, I will probably encounter problems, because unless the dimensions are in the same exact proportion, then who's going to change the layout of the everythiong wrote in my pages.  I guess I answered my own question.  I should find a common size of book before you start and stick with it, then I'll run less than problems come from the printing time.  Well, you guys can add in any entry if you want.

    Thank you

    Blake

    It depends on.

If you have formatted your text correctly, Yes, you can totally change the size of the block of text (block of text type on all pages) and reformatting of your text on several pages. If you have done tweaking of individual pages, such as fronts of chapter, etc., you might have to redo much of this work. But if postpone you tasks such as later correctly, then you should be fine.

But is probably not a good program to write your book in InDesign. It's a nice program to ask your book once it is written. but writing the book is best done in a word proccessor. It's going to make it easy to do the kind of people editing generally do in manuscript, such as printing of the versions with extra wide and extra margins wide spacing of comments in writing on, etc.

On the other hand, if your book is focused on the chart, it would be wise to do a lot of previous work in InDesign.

If you do not write your book in a word processor, you should you inveterate of paragraph styles, because that will make consistent development shaped in InDesign a lot easier.

  • IDE connectors on the motherboard, can they be used?

Hi new to the forum. I have an a1747c and my DVD/RW quit player. I'm sure I have fried it backup my files, in any case I was looking at the connectors on the motherboard and saw the unused ide connectors. None of the drives are IDE, but you can use the ide connectors at the same time with the hard drive and dvd ide not? hope my question of sense, thxs advance, Terry

It does not matter what IDE channel you use.  Things to check are: 1) make sure that the correct end of the ground is connected to the motherboard - usually the blue end. ((2) check jumper on IDE device - if the device is the only device on the cable layer, to 'Master' 3) check in the BIOS if the device is recognized 4) if 'yes' to 3) then check in "Device Manager" to see if recognized if 'no' to 3) or 4) check connections for cable connection and the power of Ribbon.  (5) does DVD flicker at startup power light?

  • Pre-install Windows 8 motherboard, the motherboard can be replaced

    Hello

IM thinking of upgrading my motherboard MSI Computer Corporation LGA 1155 B75 Intel so I can add an additional graphics card but windows 8 is related to the motherboard or not

    Hello:

Windows 8 is connected to the motherboard.

There is no product key to use.

If you upgrade a new motherboard, you will need to purchase a new license W8 or W7.

It would have been necessary anyway since it is illegal to install an OEM operating system on a motherboard upgrade.

At Microsoft, a motherboard upgrade = a new PC and an OEM license cannot be transferred to a motherboard upgraded or to another PC.

  • Motherboard has failed on the computer running Windows XP Professional. Can I replace the motherboard and re - install Windows with my product key?

My computer was assembled by myself has worked for many years, the operating system is win xp pro OEM.  The motherboard has failed and I'm replacing it with a newer version, that is no longer available. I can re - install win xp pro using any win xp pro not oem and using original key to activate? I understand the oem rules as it relates to a registered oem (Dell, Acer, etc) but my oem copy was bought at retail and as far as I know is not related to a named oem. In fact, I'd say I'm oem as I made the original equipment.

There is disagreement on that. I've seen people claim that if you change the motherboard, you essentially create a new PC (which would mean you would need another license as an OEM license can be used on a PC and never transferred to another).

And then there are people who say that it is the OEM who decides what constitutes a new PC. I tend to support this point of view, personally. But there is disagreement.
BTW, if you bought the OEM CD has no impact on the license.
After installation, you may need the Microsoft phone to activate (in other words, if the activation over the Internet does not work).
  • Windows Vista after the replacement of the motherboard

I replaced a faulty motherboard on my windows vista machine, now it tells me my copy of windows is not genuine, how can I fix this?  Original was an AMD Phenom processor, replace it with a processor Intel i3 and Council.  Once the physical exchange of has been done, he pulled upward and ran with no problems until now, about 3 weeks after the change of material.

If the copy of Vista came with your computer (in other words, it was a copy sold OEM preinstalled on your computer) you are virtually no chance that the OEM copies are linked to the motherboard and if he dies, the copy of Windows is no longer valid.  Otherwise, you must follow the instructions for activation by telephone and explain the exchange of material and you will be assisted with the reactivation of your copy of Windows.

  • Replacing the motherboard is equal to the new OEM license?

I joined the forum of my PC manufacturer to stay up-to-date with everything that is associated with the product I bought.  I noticed that my BIOS is outdated in several versions and decided that I should update my system before the upgrade to Vista to W7 (prequisites manufactureres had to ensure that the BIOS was the last level).

I downloaded the instructions and ISO version (recommended) from the website flash for my model of office and cut the ISO on a disc version.  All right.

Before installing, I went back to the site and saw a large number of failures of BIOS from users, some complain that failure fried the motherboard on their systems (CMOS pin exchanges etc. did not recover the system). When mothers were replaced some have struggled to get their license OEM windows re-enabled. They were told that microsoft told them... new card mother = newcomputer = new license.

    Is this true?

OEM conditions of licenses for Windows only allows Windows to run on the first PC, it was installed on.  In addition, a single PC is determined by the motherboard. Which means change on a motherboard does this PC (as far as licensing) a new single PC.

The reference number of the motherboard can give you an authorized service provider. So, you should communicate with the guys and give them the part number of your laptop. Then, they can tell you what motherboard you need.

  • I did my DPI too big and now I can't get it back to a size better because the button 'ok' or 'apply' is less where the cursor can reach. Help! How can I fix?

I have done the too large font, which made it impossible for me to fix it because the essential buttons are way below where the cursor can reach to change the size of fonts (DPI and resolution).

BOTTOM LINE: My desktop icons are so big that they're overlapping eachother, almost everything else is so great that superimposes itself also on printing.  I can't figure out what to do to solve this problem.  I know where I'm going to change the size, but because I did everything if great, that my cursor cannot reach the size change button.

Your topic (title) indicates that you can access the IPR window and you can click on scale 96 DPI, but you can't go to apply or OK. Yes?

If this is the case, you don't have to reach the buttons apply or OK.

Simply press the Enter key. It is the same as clicking on apply or OK.

  • Cannot enter BIOS on Win 7 HPE with American Megatrends BIOS

Although others have asked how to access the BIOS Setup interface, the answers have not solve my problem. so I write another similar question.

According to the subject line, I can't access the BIOS Setup interface during startup.  My system runs Windows 7 HPE.  The equipment includes an elite group of ECS motherboard that came with BIOS of American Megatrend chip version 4.6.5 and is dated 05/03/2012.  I have never flashed or otherwise updating of the BIOS chip, but I could bring up the graphical user interface and change the options.  I did quite recently in fact.

When I power fail system and/or entering the cycle of rebooting from the button start, the system stops and then begins to start and displays the start of American Megatrends screen.  Press DEL repeatedly has no impact on the continuation of start-up.  He proceeds as if the keyboard were not active and the system did not, therefore, the interruption of the keyboard...  Because the splash screen also mentions F2 and F7, I tried these interruptions as well, nothing helps.  The boot process has continued.

I searched the web until my fingers are simple bumps and can't find anything really useful.  I read and reread mother ECS card manual without finding anything.  I found a FAQ on the web page of American Megatrends, which addressed problems to access the BIOS with Win 8, which suggests that the change of power options would be effective. However, these referenced power options do not exist in my win 7 system HPE.  Yes, Power Options are available from the Control Panel, but the individual options are not the same to win 8.

FWIW, I pulled all the hard disks internal power cables to see if I could access the BIOS interface.  I was able to do so; However, without BONES, the keyboard is not active so no keyboard interrupts can be issued.

I would be grateful for any advice on how to influence of post-processing to slow down and make sure that any issue the keyboard interrupt is seen and followed.
