Win Firewall not enabled at startup

Win XPpro SP3 to update @ Boot issues a warning to the taskbar: "is your computer might be at risk - no firewall is turned on - click on the bubble to solve this problem."

After the initialization is complete, the firewall ball usually closes... when I check the Win Firewall, everything is on as you wish.

NOTES:

Win Firewall is switched on permanently through the firewall settings; In addition, MSE is installed.

There is ZERO other firewall installed on the machine of the object.

I saw the suggestions of joel S (MS Support moderator) by January 4, 2011.  Topic machine had not issues suggested registry (that is to say, all the registry entries have been suggested or not existing changes do not).

I saw this problem too on my machines.  Here is my explanation that makes a lot of sense to me, but I've seen no official confirmation on this...

When Windows starts, there is a lot of process that essentially all trying to start at the same time.  Windows has no way to control their order with the exception of dependencies in the Services.  One of these processes contains the code to verify that a firewall and display warning if none in place.  Another of these processes is the firewall program itself.  Running two programs to run at startup of the system.  The likely audit program has code that expects (suspended) for a period that it considers reasonable for a firewall start and then performs its check.  If none is in place, it generates the warning.  Now I don't know about you, but my boot time seem to be much more than before.  My guess is that the time that awaits the audit program is not now long enough so that the firewall to completely embark and implement and so, you see the message when you boot.

After the initialization is complete, the firewall ball usually closes... when I check the Win Firewall, everything is on as you wish.

IMHO, as long as the caveat goes away when the computer is fully charged and the firewall shows as active, then everything is OK and the warning foreign is simply the result of nuisance of slower boot time of Windows.

My advice is to ignore it because there is not much that can be done.

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.

  • Hardware acceleration is not enabled on my video card driver when playing Freecell

    Original title: "Hardware Acceleration"

    Ladies and gentlemen,

I just clean installed Win 7 to replace Vista on my laptop Dell Inspiron 1720 (bought in 2008), and it went smoothly.

However, when I tried the game "Freecell", I got the message that hardware acceleration is not enabled on my video card driver.

    How to achieve this please?

(Device Manager displays the graphics card to be a standard VGA graphics card and the driver is supposed to be later)

    With thanks a lot

    Singletsigma

    Hello

As the indicated error hardware acceleration must be supported by the video card
and the drivers used. Check with Dell for the updated drivers, as well as the manufacturer of the device for
the video device for the even more recent drivers. Do not assume because the Device Manager displays the
present drivers as later that they are really - see how to upgrade the drivers below.

    ========================

IF your graphics (video device) and driver both allow hardware acceleration.

    1. choose Start > Control Panel.
    2. double-click on customization, and then select display settings.
    3. click on advanced settings.
    4. click on change settings on the Troubleshooting tab.
    5. move the cursor to Enable hardware acceleration
    6. click on apply and then click OK to accept the new setting and close the dialog box.
    7. click OK to close the display properties dialog box.
    8 restart Windows.

    ========================

References to Vista also apply to Windows 7.

It's my generic how updates of appropriate driver: (updated video driver manually.)

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver under Windows

  • OpenVpn always connects at startup, but is not in the startup folder

    Hello

I am running win 7 64 bit and OpenVpn still connect at startup, but is not in the startup folder. It remains in my taskbar on the low right. I use it occasionally when I am engaged in international voyages and need a connection to the United States. I already checked the startup folder and I have nothing in there.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I had already tried this and it is marked as disabled. I can't understand this.

It could be launched as a service, visible on the Services tab in msconfig. Be sure to hide all Microsoft services front to disable all other services. I would also create a Restore Point and burn & test a Windows repair CD.

  • The Camera Raw editing is not enabled

I use CS6 on a pc and have for years. From time to time trying to open a file in Camera Raw, I get this message:

"The Camera Raw editing is not enabled. Camera Raw edition requires a product calling it launched at least once to activate this function. »

I tried to open a scan of a CD. I tried to open it in Camera Raw to both the icon and the menu drop down and got the same message twice. PS was already open. Then I opened the file in Photoshop and saved on my hard drive. Then I tried to open the disk hard version backed up, and the same error message came. When I try to open a file that was edited in Camera Raw before, CR works fine, but with any file that has not been open before in CR, I get this message. Very frustrating. I will continue to work on that, but in the meantime, does anyone have a practical work around? I've always been able to work around this problem in the past, but I don't remember how I did it. Thank you.

That one is easy. Go Task Manager and you will see a process for the bridge. Double click on it and click on stop or end the process. This happens when you have the bridge in the status bar Windows system to Windows startup.

    Hello

On ESXi command esxcfg-firewall does not exist, fundamentally ESXi has no firewall like ESX, you can enable or disable some services via vSphere client or ESXi console.
