win7 install from a copy of the recovery partition?

I just bought a desktop PC HP G5135uk for my daughter, but she wants me to downgrade to winxp to win7 for her. As I understand it, the only way to save and install the win7 system later (this or any of my other PC) is to burn discs from the recovery partition. I don't want to lose the system as it was part of the price, but is not no matter what dvd - r at the moment, so I was wondering if simply copying the recovery partition completely on my back of the drive (on our network) may run until I can pick up some discs? I would also just that partition in place anyway, no format, simply install xp on the system partition.

Advice or to monitor problems appreciated. Also, I hope the drivers are working or I can replace with versions mean for xp (downloaded all the drivers for this machine already as backup).

Save yourself a lot of grief and burn the recovery DVD set. Usually only takes 2-3 DVD. I found that Sony DVD + R works the best for me to have several machines HP belonging to the family.

Copy of the partition rarely works. I have tried everything recently on a laptop hard drive that wasn't when the owner did not (yet) a recovery set... didn't work. Software to create an exact copy of imagery would be the best chance to work by restoring the image of the hdd_but who rarely works either.

BTW, the machine has the Intel G41 Chipset and a SATA hard drive, so you will need to change to AHCI Mode IDE controller in the BIOS to enable XP install. XP doesn't have SATA drivers. Or you can integrate SATA drivers with nLite and burn a new cd of XP.

    Hello

You can buy the necessary disks or the HP's USB key...

Here is a link to that... You will need to enter your exact model number, or more likely your serial number.

You can also call to them. The disks may be $20, but I do not know the USB, if necessary.

    Hello

A primary role of a set of recovery disks is to rebuild a machine after the failure of his HARD drive, in Exchange for a bigger HARD drive (capacity)) or Exchange a HDD with a SSD. I do not see why we cannot use the game in this case.

  • How can I configure Satellite A300-148 boot from the recovery partition?

    Hello

I had some problems when trying to install MAC - OSX, for her, where the partition table is deleted, then I retrieve the entire score as it is, but I can not start in any case.
Then I decide temproraly install another copy of vista drive Vista (not the partition), then set up my laptop to boot from the recovery partition and reinstall the good copy.
My problem is, it's all here, the only problem is, I need to configure the system to boot from the recovery partition.

    My device is:
    Satellite A300-148

    Thanks to the device.

    Hello

If you have already changed the partitions of HARD drive and deleted files from the HARD disk, then your HARD drive recovery is too bad!

But to make sure that the HARD drive recovery is not possible please press F8 immediately after the power of the laptop. Usually a start menu should appear and you should be able to choose the option called fix my computer. Then you should be able to choose recovery option.

But like I said that this is only possible if your HARD drive was not formatted!

If you have formatted the HARD drive and changed partitions then you will need a Toshiba DVD recovery that you have not because you didn t he create at the beginning. Is this good? Well, then you must order the recovery DVDs if you want to retrieve the laptop to factory settings.

    Welcome them

  • Q: How do I restore from USB if the recovery partition is deleted?

Hi, make a backup of my spectrum 14 of jealousy cumputer Windows 7 on a USB stick with hp Recovery Manager. After that I deleted the restore disk partition and installed Windows 8. Now have sleep/power issues on Windows 8, need to go back to 7 can I test before sending it in for repair.

Even if I did a backup USB, of bus I can't boot from the USB and the ect/f11 option at startup, does nothing, yet windows just starts.

Now, how can I restore from a USB Pendrive without having access to the F11 restore the disk option, how to reinstall System Restore?

    Hello

A backup is not a clone. You have cloned partition to a USB bootable for her to work.

The HP Backup & Recovery Manager does not copy the recovery partition, even if you back up the entire hard drive.

Here is a reference for the HP Recovery Manager manual.

Unless you do a recovery as a DVD or USB media, the only source for what is available to you is to buy a set of recovery disks.

I would like to have better news for you on this subject.

    Best regards.

  • recover from the recovery partition

I found several entries by searching in the forum, but nobody seems to be similar to my problem:

I want to recover my windows vista system partition using the partition recovery on my T61p.

It worked very well for me last time. But in the meantime I installed Ubuntu which was installing the grub loader, I think that what causes the problem all to rewrite the mbr.

By pressing the Thinvantage key while booting does not show me the usable entries. If I boot from the Thinkpad - Recovery Boot disk iexpect only after pressing 'next' linux partitions and data will be deleted also.

But especially as I could finally recovery... "Select the partition you want to use as the system partition" or another message like this.

I remember, I was delighted when I saw this message. Because at the time, I was doing this I was expecting something like that. But today, that would be great, I don't have to reinstall Linux.

Can you please tell me how I'm going to continue?

    Thank you

For 3 or 4 days I'm looking a solution for my problem.

I tried many things and spent a lot of time reading about similar issues.

Windows Vista Ultimate on my T61p is not able to upgrade to SP1. I did it via ThinkVantage System Update, Windows Update function function and I downloaded the SP1 of Microsoft.com.

Meanwhile my games installed do not work, I reinstalled them and then got an error message like: ereg.exe does not work.

Installation completed then and I got the same error as before, at the start of the game.

I had a serious accident before 4 months and I spent all the time in hospitals. My only satisfaction now is my new T61p and I don't get to work.

    PROBLEM:

Maybe I did something wrong before update so I tried to use the recovery feature to set windows to the same status as when I got the laptop.

I tried using the CD Boot Vista added, disk 1-c and the last c. I also tried using the recovery partition which I did not have to work when I started this thread.

During this time I installed the rescue and recovery 4.2 and now he got the correct menu entry. When I select this function (F11) starting the computer was 'normal' and I had the selection of GRUB menu...

I also found a scandiskpatch.exe which should correct some problems of RnR using Vista and 4.2 RnR. But when I doubleclick on it, I get a message that my computer do not have good condition for the correction of program (or something else, I use the German language pack.

I want to restore my computer, and then try to update and if this doesn't work I still will have to find a solution for this.

Please help me with this very annoying problem.

    Hi Jory,

Run the first CC cleaning tool to remove Adobe Creative cloud completely from your machine.

Use the CC cleaning tool to resolve installation problems. CC, CS3 - CS6

Once it is completely removed, you can download the installer from the help below document:

  • x 360: delete the recovery partition after installing Linux

    Hello

My x 360 laptop with 10 Windows works fine. I just installed Linux dual boot (w. Windows 10) on three new partitions. The scores are as below. E, F, G partitions are Linux.

    I have these questions please:

    1. is the recovery partition (D) no longer, now that I have partitioned the disk? (I did a recovery USB flash drive when I bought the computer)

    2. is it safe to remove the recovery partition (D)?

    3. There is also a small partition of 980 MB. What is c? Is it safe to remove?

    Thank you

    YCC

Sorry, no.  You can not recover by using the HP Recovery partition after you change the partitioning scheme.

As it is now, you might as well delete it.

It will not hurt to remove it now because the HP Recovery works doesn'y work in any case.

I know Macrium Reflect can backup and restore Windows and Linux distros because I have tried it, myself.

    Good luck

  • Satellite L300-1BV you can file a copy of the recovery disks

    Hello
    Just out of curiosity.
I have not tried, but I heréd you can make a copy of the recovery disks, using the toshiba disk creator.

I just thought it would be faster posting this question, rarther than to try.
I don't know it costs £30 for a copy of the recovery disks, which led me to think are for people who did not create recovery disks or people who lost it copy recovery disks.

    I myself only one copy

No, you can do as much as you want. But it only works on the L300

  • Need to re - install Windows, but I have no recovery partition or the Windows DVD

    Dear reader,

Recently, Windows got broken on my Toshiba Satellite L650-170.
I tried to use my backup, but backup refused my backups.

After some research, the disc seems to be in good health, but all the partitions on the drive seem to be damaged in some way.

So, I'm without a Windows disk or the recovery Partition.

How can I get Windows on my laptop using the windows key attached to it?
(A friend told me that the use of another work of won´t of windows disk 7)

    Kind regards

    Peter

    Hi Peter

If you don t have access to the original recovery partition, the question is: what do you have installed on your laptop?

If you want to have the factory settings once again, you must install OS using the original Toshiba recovery disc. You can order it on http://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

If you want to have clean OS install, you can use the original disc of Microsoft with the valid license code. Product key at the bottom of your laptop cannot be used for activation.

If you have any other questions you are welcome.

  • Pavilion dv6t-2000 - cannot recover from the recovery partition

Hey there. I'm trying to restore my laptop with Win 7 settings, but I can't seem to restore from my recovery partition. I tried the F8, F11 key and on the ways to office with no luck. In some of them, recovery option is grayed out, but using the recovery on the Desktop Manager, I have recovery option, but he says to insert disk 1 before continuing. I have no disc and I already have a previous restoration set the last time I got my laptop (about 2 years ago).

When I click on my computer I see the c drive and d drive - what is labeled a recovery partition. I did a check of the recovery partition and there are no errors. It seems to work fine, except that my laptop is not to be used to recover. I know it's a major road, so I've never tested with it.

Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated

It is more likely that some of the files were corrupted on the recovery partition. At this point, since you have no recovery disc, I would phone HP to order recovery media.

  • XPS 12 / Win 8: how to boot from the recovery partition / reinstall Windows?

Messed up things on a newly purchased 12 XPS in Windows 8, and I want to boot from the recovery partition and reinstall windows.

Support online pages point by pressing F8 during startup, but this does not at all.

How can I access the recovery partition?

To access to the menu of, , press F2.

To enter the boot options menu, press F12.

Because the XPS 12 boots so fast, it is better to repeatedly press F2 or F12 after restarting the machine. During the startup process, texts for options should appear at the bottom right of the screen. If you enter Windows, you will need to restart again and press F2 or F12 until it works. However, I don't think there is an option in the BIOS to restore the computer to its factory condition. The previous post by DELL-VIKRAM M describes how to properly restore the machine to its factory state.
