Win7 - is - safe change active partitions?

I have a few have windows 7 system problems that I can't fix during which I was management disk checking and there are 2 partitions, one for the recovery of the system and the usual with all that on C drive partition.

I noticed that the recovery partition is marked as active and yet he appears as space of 100%. Is that correct or is it possible to change to the C drive in that active without stuffing upward.

If things go not astray in this passage how would get it back again.
Thanks, Jeff

Can you please tell us what problems Win7 have you?
This small recovery partition is created by Windows itself and I think that you should not change anything. I put t know what kind of problems you have but I n t thinking change these parameters, you can solve anything.

Post, please short description of your Windows issues.

By mistake partition active of my hp laptop pavilion has been changed to recovery disc (D) and WINDOWS DOES NOT START. I can access prompt f11 (hp system recovery) when starting. How to change the partition active (command prompt in recovery when you start using f11 Manager) command there? Help, please

    Hello DipayanSaha ;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your message on the orders you want to change the volume Actiive and wanted to help.

The basic command is diskpart - and you run from an elevated command prompt window.  You should know that, since it is a steering control system, it will do exactly what you tell him to do it-no questions asked.  So, if you say to format the wrong volume, there is no going back from that.

Once you enter diskpart in the command window, wait until you see DISKPART > appear on the command line.  This indicates that you are now inside the diskpart command environment.

Type help to see a list of commands and options.

Enter the volume in the list to get a list of partitions.  Note that they are numbered from ZERO, not one.  Take note of the two volumes that you want to change the attributes. Make sure you write down the correct volume numbers.

For the sake of discussion, let's assume the volume numbers are 1 and 2, 1 being the volume of the BONE and 2 being the recovery volume - volume numbers may be different.

To remove the active indicator of the volume of recovery, follow these steps:

    Select volume 2

    inactive

To now add the active indicator for the OS volume, follow these steps:

    Select volume 1

    assets

Active flags have now been reset correctly, and you're done, so type exit

The command window will display Exit DiskPart...

    That's it - good luck

  • change an active partition in windows server 2008 r2 makes me can't open a windows session and be invited to the compaq recovery system

    Dear all,

I struggled with this problem for 3 days. I can't connect to windows server 2008 R2 because I accidentally change the active partition of the system partition to another partition whose size is very small (only about 1 GB). When I try to watch through the back, the sequence is all wrong. The previous system partition was becode D c. The other partition which is becoming C f.

I tried to use startrep to fix this, but the problem remains the same.

I also try to use bcdedit /? bootsequence, but because I don't know how to see the partition guid, I can't change the bootsequence.

Can anyone help to open a windows session? Your help is appreciated production. I need it as soon as possible...

  • Installed new HARD drive with the new installation of XP, old HDD ShowAs saw as the active partition, how to change this?

I installed a new HARD drive with a new installation of Windows XP Edition family. I want to keep the old HDD and reformat the drive, but I can't because the second HDD is listed as active in the management of the computer. Why? It's not the drive that contains the operating system (Windows XP) that is initialized from.  I put the BIOS such that the new HARD drive is the boot drive. The old HDD has Windows XP on it, but isn't the startup disk. I just don't understand.
If only the new HARD drive is installed, the computer management doesn't show that it or any other of its partitions are the active partition (C drive is listed as the system partition, of course).

How can I get an active partition and no active partition when the new HARD drive is installed on a HARD drive that is not the boot drive, when I have two hard drives installed?

In case it is necessary, the new HARD drive is a SATA and the old HARD drive is IDE with the cavaliers as a slave.

The system partition is the Active partition. The system volume contains the system files needed to start Windows, Windows XP, these system files are:

    NTLDR
    Boot.ini
    NTDETECT.COM
Ntbootdd.sys (present/used only with older SCSI controllers)

Windows files are not necessarily on the system volume, they can reside on another volume, when on a different volume this volume holding Windows files is called the boot volume.

When you install Windows on a computer, playing a mixture of IDE and SATA setup discs tends to favor with IDE drives on SATA drives and tends to use the IDE drive to house the system partition, (even if Windows is installed on a different drive).

Running the command SYSTEM SET at a command prompt may shed some light on the problem...

C:OS is the only one. You can change the name of the OS (operating system) to anything you want. This makes it easier to recognize. Right click on C in the Explorer of files or disk management, choose Properties and change the name of OS. The only rule is no strange characters or symbols.

My C partition is the main boot partition and it is full. 29G all exhausted. I copied the files of many program and pasted in the partition with 188 free G D. But it doesn't allow me to delete the original file from C to free up space. How do I do that? It says destination refused. Also, how can I change the partition of C to D that take downloads and automatic updates? I'm tired of this constant problem and I tried everything, including disk management to solve the problem. • Upgrade Wizard indicates the active partition is compressed

    Hello

I have a MSI Netbook running Windows 7 Starter and want to go to Windows 10.

I run the upgrade wizard that tells me the current active partition is compressed.

I checked in the management of the computer - I have:

    Recovery partition - 8.35 GB

Active, the recovery Partition - 100 MB

    Boot, page file, crash dump, primary Partition - 173,79 GB - OS_Install (c :))

    Primary partition - 115,86 GB - Data (d :))

All are listed as single - base; C: and D: are NTFS; the other two have no file system listed.

None of the partitions are indicating as "compressed". In Solution Explorer, I have the opportunity to make compressed (thus taken as it is 'uncompressed').

All sitting on a WD 320 GB drive (289.1 GB used by partitions).

I do not have access to any partition other than C: and D: and I imagine wouldn't upgrade.

So why I said that the current active partition is compressed.

I notice that I could make C: partition Active - but what effect would it have on the boot and the functioning of the netbook?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    # Problem, it is that your recovery image is useless now. When you want to use the external device for installation of recovery image is must be created as device start and it can be done if you use the preinstalled recovery media creator.

Recovery image is saved on the HARD drive and fixed with the so-called markers. Recovery media creator can find these markers and start using the recovery saved on the HARD disk image. After changing structure of HARD disk partitions these markers disappeared and this is the reason why you see this error message.

I'm afraid you must order now new recovery m FRO Toshiba drive and you can do it on - https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

  • Blocked Windows in safe mode activation loop.

So here's the problem, I used windows xp pro x 64 now for a little over 2 years and it has worked perfectly until today. I play with some programs of hertz of mouse that required me to start in safe mode. I went to boot safe mode via msconfig. My computer starts up fine until I got to the login screen and it said "this copy of Windows must be activated with Microsoft before you can continue. You cannot connect until you activate Windows. Because activation is not possible in safe mode, restart your computer in normal mode to activate windows. »

Since I started with safe mode via msconfig, I can't boot into normal windows more. It will automatically start in safe mode and with this activation pop up, I can't get into the operating system, or even to command promt. I tried to start with the last known good configuration, I tried to start Windows normally through the f8 during the startup option.

I really don't want to reformat, it will result in a large number of documents and deletion of files.

Is there anyway I can somehow I cannot go into msconfig change back and start windows normally?

    Niramaya,
Well, it sounds as if your system is not seeing the drive or is unable to access it properly.  At this point, you would probably need to see if the encryption program society has any means to help remove encryption, if you add the drive to another system.  With regard to obtaining a XP disc you need to contact the PC manufacturer and see if they offer a replacement recovery media. • How to change the partitions on the Satellite P870-026

    Hello

does anyone know how to partition the HARD drive on a P870 Satellite with Windows 8 (if the material of the BONE).
I used the options in disk management. The problem is that I can't shrink less than about 450 GB lecteurC. It is a new laptop and features a 1 TB HDD and 50 GB used only at present.

I defragmented the HARD drive, but it made no difference.
    Thank you

I presume you are aware that a "hidden file" is the reason why you can't resize.

This [http://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html] is supposed to do the job. Software free EASEUS ([http://www.easeus.com/partition-manager/]) can do. (I think you need to very careful to install the software. I believe that unless you read each screen and check / uncheck boxes carefully it will have changed your homescreen internet, search engine and installed more software).

    BUT
Any root you choose, make sure you have prepared Windows etc. recovery disks so that you can restore your pc to a shipped State. Do some searching on Google on things like "install the bigger hard drive" "change the size of the partition during the installation of windows" "create a cd bootable/memory stick ' and the popular"migrates to ssd drive"and you will pick up a lot of advice. I don't know if the Toshiba recovery disks repartition a drive to match the original configuration.
