Window XP SP3 failed update.

I've been re-formatting my laptop with original window recently. After re-formatting, it is causing me unable to do a proper update of window.

When I tried to go to the windows update page, it displays the error message with relevant URLs for your reference http://www.update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us and with the [error number: 0 x 80244019].

Please guide.

Thank you.

Once you have formatted and started on - you will have to manually upgrade to SP3.

Uninstall IE8 and IE7 if they are installed. Back to all the way back to IE6. You want other patches before you get those. Reboot after doing this.

Get SP2 (manually) and save it to your desktop. (There's a link here.) [You are a COMPUTER professional for now.]

Install it.

Then restart at least a couple of times for a few minutes between each restart.

Get SP3 (manually) and save it to your desktop. (There's a link here.) [You are a COMPUTER professional for now.]

Install it.

Then restart at least a couple of times for a few minutes between each restart.

Download at least Internet Explorer 7 (if it is not Internet Explorer 8).

Install it.

Reset.

Now, try to get the updates through the normal web page (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/) and see how much more you can get (100 +) and keep checking until you no longer have.

Back - let everyone know if it worked for you.

I use one of the few programs that won't run on Windows 7.  I would like to know when Microsoft will stop support for XP so I can recommend to my employer when I need a Windows7 compatible program update.

It ends April 8, 2014 (all support Windows XP, including security updates and hotfixes related to security, it will be terminated).

And why you wait until then (2014), it's tome to upgrade your application and OS both. My advice is to move forward and not wait. If a program does not run in Win7 and then use it in XP Mode until your app Publisher write a new application compatible for Windows 7.

I want to move my hard drive from a computer with a motherboard dead to a newer machine.  The activation process failed.  How can I get the operating system XP Professional sp3 reactive?  I have the code original and other info.

original title: Moving the death machine drive

    Hello CarrolScott,

The activation problem arose because the hardware on your current computer does not match that of the hardware on the machine whose mother is dead.

The best option for the reactivation is to use the telephone line. This, unfortunately, is automated and may refuse to turn on your system; However, don't despair just rest on the line after the automated atcivation crossed its procedure and you will be transferred to a real person. Tell this person you've done, and it should be able to help activate.

  • Adding RAM on S6300NX, keeps restarting. Windows XP SP3 Upgrade Utility driver update fails

I have a Compaq Presario S6300NX works on XP Home and has the AMD Athlon XP processor.  The vehicle currently has a 512 MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM Memory Module installed.  I bought a 512 MB 333 MHZ DDR PC2700 184 pin Dimm 2.5V module install alongside the original.  I did my best to check that it is compatible through the HP site but it was purchased by an outside vendor.

The new module fits perfectly into its housing.  However when I turn the computer back on, it will just through this continuous reboot.  He could do it on the desk, but within seconds, it restarts.  Once, I got a message saying 'ended unexpectedly DCOM Server process Launcher service '.  I took the new module back out and rebooted - the computer then worked fine.  He told me that the system has recovered from a fatal (x 4) error.  But work just fine without the memory upgrade module.  Tried to reinstall, maybe user error (?), but once again, the system went into a continuous reboot cycle.

I googled the message an error I copied (on the DCOM model) and found here in the support area and HP drivers, there was an updated driver that I could do that specifically mentioned my error message "Microsoft Windows® XP SP3 upgrade utility for systems equipped with AMD processors.  I followed the instructions and downloaded the file to my desktop.  I then tried to launch the installation of many times each time to get the same error message after extraction of the files and the yes button to install.  "Your system does not meet the minimum requirements for this update.  The update was cancelled (9998)"

These are the prereqs in the instructions: "you must be logged in as an administrator to install this update.

I went to Best Buy and bought a new module of memory.  Accompanies the PNY optima.  Worked perfectly.  After all that.  So I guess that it was probably a bad memory stick.  Thanks to all who helped!  Problem solved!

Current system under Windows XP SP3 Gets the error message "0x8024D007" from Windows Update.  I tried methods 1 and 2 described in the Article 956701 but the same error occurs.  Also used REGSVR32 /u to unregister the WUPS2. Question: Can SP3 be removed and reinstalled without affecting existing applications that may have been installed under SP3?  I ordered SP3 on CD and that you plan to use it to reinstall.

When you have access to the computer, your list includes:

    1. ask your son if IE7 had been installed before he did the repair facility a few years; and if that were the case, it uninstall IE7 before proceeding with the repair facility?

    2. see if a reset fixes the problem; CF. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
    2. click on the System Restore tab.
    3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
    5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.
