[Windows 10] Closing lid performs hard stop

So, I recently broke my computer and after 12 hours of working Windows 10 on it. (Meaning does not go back to Windows 8.1 option)
So when I close the lid of my laptop, it performs a hard stop. Look on the forums, I don't have a lot of help. I tried to update the display driver, but it did not help.

Hello

Try to change what the power buttons do in the control panel.

Open Control Panel - > Power Options

Change the options for when I close the lid sleep

Hope this helps

  • When using my computer, all applications and the windows are closed at the same time, got disconnected and the computer turns off as if someone stops manually.

Original title: it's a virus that's causing this?

It happened a few times now. While I use my computer, all applications and the windows are closed at the same time, I am disconnected and the computer is off, as if someone manually stops the computer. I turn on the computer and log in and everything seems to be okay. No data deleted, not that I could find and detect anyway. One day when I turned on the computer, it run chkdsk before doing the usual startup. I use the computer for 2 years and this is the first time, she never did a chkdsk on its own. I used Microsoft Essentials and no viruses were found.

    Should I worry?

  • I got my Macbook Pro hard stop. How will I know if anything has corrupted?

Completely new to this, but I had a glance through different threads and that you did not find the answer I'm after.

So, as you can see in the title, I had a problem recently where an application on my Macbook brand new exit. The window disappears, but the icon of the application does not close on my dock. I tried to force him to quit the app that does not work, and I couldn't restart / shut down my because all applications had to be closed if the end I trained performing a hard stop on my Macbook. I had to do it twice now.

Now, I have discovered the "activity monitor" and > Terminal methods to kill apps (still yet to test this on a frozen app), but I just wanted to ask if there was a way to see the damage that has been done on the 2 hard stops I made? I have transferred all my music and pictures above a hard drive and don't want to find one of these corrupt. However, I didn't have iTunes, photo, all the folders etc open so would like to think that nothing has been corrupted... Easier to think that well!

Any comments silently appreciated - thank you

Just to be on the safe side and avoid any corruption of the disk, whenever I had to make a hard stop, I reboot in Recovery Mode and make a record of first aid with disk on the device and volume utility.

If you are using a version of OS X prior to El Capitan, it is called repair disc and repair disk permissions.

  • My Windows 7 closed down my computer, - completely unexpected - se?

    Hi everyone.

It happened completely without ANY reason, - NO error -, no blue screen, - want you to tell ME what it is and what exactly I need to do about it?

    Thank you in advance!

    Well, - I'll check, - thank you!

    -Who was it?

    • Stop instantly - no quick and not obvious warning sign?
    • Close properly, closing programs and closing of things to stop Windows?

Former - material most likely.  Could be the power or defective material.

Latter - software.  Possible malware infestation.

If the former - update the BIOS of your system, make sure that you have good CLEAN power to your computer (APR-battery backup UPS Technology is a good start) and run a complete diagnosis of the material - especially on your memory and the hard drive.

    If the latter...

    Search for malware:

Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find. Reboot when necessary. (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner.

  • Try power upward and he would keep a black screen for a few seconds then turn off and turn on and repeat until I've done a hard stop. I got a message on the svchost.exe

Original title: help - csvhost.exe and problems to start

My sons laptop has problems - try to turn on and it would maintain a black screen for a few seconds and then turned off and turn and repeat until I've done a hard stop.  I am able to navigate to the top after repeated attempts.  I could take a quick and complete hard drive test and it passed... Finally, I restored to factory and spent the last 8 hours going through the update process.  It works fine and restart without problems until recently - I followed the instructions to reboot to perform an update, but he had served in the "shutting down" mode for almost an hour I did a firm hard down.  It took a few attempts so he could begin after that, and when I did I had a message on the svchost.exe and thought that might have something to with him... found a site that has a download that is supposed to fix errors and am curious if that is recommended or whether there is another solution or possible make my misfortunes.  The site is: http://www.exe-error-advisor.com/svchost-exe.  I don't know what's happening - the computer works very well when it turns - to be fair, I did also made an update of "HP Total Care Advisor" who has nothing and after I rebooted I could not make it work... "HP Advisor has stopped working"

    Any ideas or advice?

  • How boot Windows Vista from a USB hard drive that has a good backup Vista already on him.

Hi, initially, I thought I had a virus (blue screens that appear often), then I thought I had a corrupted driver or systems file. So, I had a 2 t USB external hard drive and saved ALL my internal hard drive.  After execution of all kinds of tests from my internal hard drive, it does NOT pass the diagnostic test and always stops in the same place on the internal hard drive.  It becomes harder and harder to start on my internal drive of 'C' without getting some kind of blue screen.  I'm sure that now it's my drive "C" which is declining and malfunction and I am convinced now to go forward and every time you start my existing backup Vista SP2 that I backed up on my disk 'K', or if I can, then do a new clean install of Vista 86 x (32 bit) on the disc 'K '.  My boot sequence is as follows: 1. Disc 2 DVD 3. External drive USB 'K' 4. Internal drive C (eventually when I get all fixed, I turn OFF my 'C' drive.)  When I boot my computer without my Vista disk, it bypasses the 'K' reader, because all the "loadup data" is located in a folder and are not exposed, or I don't have the files to "load" just in the right place.  When I look at the file config.sys and autoexec.bat copied, I see nothing in the files that would be "load" my existing Vista, instead he just goes right in front of the reader 'K' and on the 'C' drive and loaded a version own intalled my Vista (if I can avoid a blue screen, sometimes I have to load in "safe mode" and even) It doesn't work sometimes!)  My question is what the loadup files are needed and where on my 'K' drive (in system32?) to be able to restart my old copy of Vista which has all my existing configurations in place?  Thanks in advance for your help.

  • How to put Windows 7 on the new hard drive without boot cd? How will I know if 32 or 64 bits? This computer yourself running windows 10?

    * Original title: windows 7 download

I have a laptop dell M4400 with windows 7 pro OA. HARD drive crashed and I replaced with a new one. How to put Windows 7 on the new hard drive without boot cd? How will I know if 32 or 64 bits? This computer yourself running windows 10?

It has probably comes with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.

You can download a copy of Windows 7 Professional using the following instructions (update of Microsoft recovery software supports downloads with the COA key):

How to: What are my options for Windows 7 reinstall media?

Make sure you scroll down and read the section:

What to do if you cannot get your manufacturer recovery media, refuse to use or to buy it or the Microsoft Software Recovery Website does not work?

You can also use Windows 10 too as you have the right to it as a free upgrade:

    • Turn off (preferably uninstall) your Antivirus utility before you perform the upgrade.
    • Reboot several times, and then try again.
    • Disable the general USB peripherals (for example - smart card reader).
    • If you are using a SCSI drive, make sure you have the drivers available for your storage on a thumdrive device and it is connected. During the installation of Windows 10, click on the advanced custom Option and use the command load driver to load the driver for the SCSI drive. If this does not work and the installer still fails, consider switching to an IDE based hard drive.
    • Perform a clean boot, restart, and then try again.
    • If you upgrade to the. ISO file, disconnect from the Internet during the installation, if you are connected in LAN (Ethernet) or wireless, disable both, then try to install.
    • If you are updated through Windows Update, when download reaches 100% disconnect from the LAN (Ethernet) Internet or Wi - Fi, then proceed with the installation.
    • If this does not work, try using the. ISO file to upgrade if possible.
    • If you are connected to a domain, go to a local account.
    • If you have an external equipment, attached to the machine, unplug them (example, game controllers, USB sticks, external hard drive, printers, peripherals not essential).

The Windows.old folder is your ticket to uninstall Windows 7 and roll back to Vista.

If you are happy with the results of leveling, can access all your data files, all that you have transferred to the E-mail, the .old folder can be deleted.

  • Can I install Windows 7 on an external hard drive and then put it back in the computer as a hard drive internal?

Here's the situation, I reinstall Windows 7 on my laptop when it all of a sudden to stop. Now he cannot start Windows and only shows the Startup Repair tool. IM thinking if I can get my hard drive and put it in a hard drive enclosure and install windows in it as a hard drive external. And after installation, I will put the normal back on my laptop as a hard drive. Will this work?

Furthermore, I can't boot any disk installation because the built-in DVD player does not work, also I can not change startup option because I can't access the BIOS, there the password and I do not know. Please someone help! :( Thank you!

As a general rule, Microsoft allows not 'officially' most versions of Windows (9 x--> 7) to boot from an external hard drive.  However, there could be an exception to this rule.  eSATA pregnant use signals to 'SATA' HDD on an "external" port
