Windows 10/ESXi 6.0 NIC ad nauseam resets

I am running Windows 10 on ESXi 6.0.0 build 2494585.  I was running into the problem that others have experienced where windows will shut down in ~ 24 hours.  I came here on these forums and learned that it was thanks to the SATA cdrom drive.  Thanks for this tip.

In the next issue, I have found now that my computer can stay long enough for a new problem to occur:

I thought that I was running on this problem even once when I went to RDP on my computer and it was not available.  I opened vSphere and of course, the machine is running, but the State of the network said no connectivity.  I have to disable and re-enable the network interface to find the connection.   I have pasted below information from system logs.  This message is repeated hundreds of times, incrementing the newspaper each time.   Does anyone have an idea what I can do to work around this problem?  It happened at least 3 times now.  I found a similar problem on another forum with a person running Windows 10 on Parallels, but the County was nowhere near as high.  I have followed the advice on this thread and disabled IPv6 when even in the case where.

Event 10400

Network interface "Intel (r) PRO/1000 MT Network Connection" started resetting. There will be a momentary in network connectivity interruption, while hardware resets.

Reason: The network driver asked that it resets itself.

This network interface reset 784 times since it has been initialized last.

    Hello

We lack ESXi, vCenter 5.5 with 3 5.5 hosts. I am trying to convert an old Windows 2000 Server physical and add it to one of our ESXi hosts.

It seems that the latest version of the Agent converter that I can run on the W2K Server is 4.01. Something more recent than that will not install.

And version 4.01 of the stand-alone converter cannot connect to a host ESXi 5.5, (because it is not not compatible I suspect).

If I run 5.5 Converter Standalone and connect you to the W2K Server, he wants to upgrade the agent which, of course, he can't.

    Anyone have this working?

    Do I have other options?

    Thank you.

For anyone else who may find themselves in this position.

I used to convert physical server Win2K Server VMware vCenter Converter Standalone 4.01 virtual 2.x.

When it's done, I used vCenter Standalone Converter 5.5.3 to convert the image to Vmware Server 2 5.5 ESXi infrastructure.

I went all start the server ESXi without a NIC attached and all seems OK, so confident when I do for real, it should work.

  • Dell R710 and ESXi 4.1 NIC issue.

Please bare with me, I'm a newbe with vMware.

    My question is this:

Got a new Dell R710 with Broadcom BCM5709 quad. Install ESXi 4.1 CD. Then, I created a virtual machine and install Win Server 2008 R2 64 bit.

In vSphere Client under configuration-> network-> properties (per virtual switch)-> network-> adapter details maps I see the Broadcom adapter. But in Windows in the Device Manager the NIC comes as Intel PRO/1000MT.

This is the expected behavior? ESXi support a pilot intel virtual any? or must we show Broadcom NIC.

If this is not the expected behavior, please suggest a solution.

    Thank you

    Welcome to the community,

what you see is expected and in design. ESX mask the real hardware and presents a virtual hardware to virtual machines. In this way, you are able to move the virtual machine across different hosts and even VMware Workstation, player,... without a lot of changes.

  • ESXi 5.5 nic teaming/LAG with trunking does not but it works on ESX 4.0.  Both are on the same switch. What gives?

I have two hosts (vhost1 = ESX 4.0, vhost2 = 5.5 ESX) both are configured for the Group and both connected to a switch of 1544 Adtran L3 (named sw01).  vhost1 has been in production for several years with the config below and has been solid as a rock.  I'm trying to reproduce the installation of grouping/collage on vhost2 and it does not work when are associated but will work when you are using a single NIC (with or without aggregation).

To be more specific about what does not work, two virtual servers have "Network server" (vlan 8) defined as a group of ports. Both physical and virtual servers on the same vlan cannot ping or resolve queries arp for virtual machines on vhost2.    Everything that is sent from a different subnet can connect to the virtual machines on each virtual server.

So the question is this: why not ESX 5.5 works as ESX 4.0 when the configs are also near identical, as I can make them and they are connected to the same switch?

Thanks for any input you can provide!

    Hello

Do you share the vmnic for ESXi management and network of the VM?

Try to follow the steps in this KB: VMware KB: NICs using EtherChannel grouping allows intermittent network connectivity in ESXi

Trying to team adapters using EtherChannel, network connectivity is disrupted on an ESXi host. This problem occurs because grouping NIC properties will not propagate to the network management portgroup in ESXi.

When you configure the ESXi host for grouping of NETWORK cards in attributing to the road based on ip hashload balancing, this configuration is not propagated to the portgroup management network.

    Workaround

Note: to reduce the possibility network loss please change the route based on the hash of IP using this method of balancing load vSwitch

    1. Close all ports in the physical switch team leaving a single port as active.
    2. Change the Route based on ip hash vSwitch and load balancing management Portgroup.
    3. Set up the physical switch port channel.
    4. Activate the physical switch ports.

Notes: Using this method will avoid a loss of connection when you switch to a port channel. Also make sure that under the properties for vmk portgroup # used for network management you tick the box "Enabled".

  • Customization of Windows on ESXi 5.1 with a failure of vCenter 5.5

    Hello!

We have a problem with o/s (2008 R2 SP1) of Windows customization on our 5.1 ESXi update 3 (build 1743533) hosts

given that we have updated the server vCenter Server since 5.1.0 in the last 5.5 Update 1 version.

The sysprep command works normally and personalization seems to be good at the end of the day,

but we do not get "successful personalization" more in the events of the virtual computer.

This is the end of the file "C:\Windows\TEMP\vmware-imc\guestcust.log":

    [2014 06-09 T 12: 43:50 INFO] Called GuestCustUtil .

    [2014 06-09 T

This is the only mistake we have in all the newspapers (C:\Windows\System32\sysprep\Panther\setupact.log is 100% success)

and it seems that it is just the end "GuestCustUtil flagComplete" which does not work.

Wouldn't be a compatibility problem with the GuestCustUtil of vCenter command 5.5 (as dated 16/04/2014) with our 3 ESXi 5.1 update hosts?

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

We have an open for this issue support ticket.

  • Windows Server 2012 R2 4 NIC team LACP

    Good day to all

I configured a LACP 4 niic bundle on my Server R2 of 2012, all network cards are the same. I set up my 4-port CISCO 6509 as follows

    Interface Port-channel50
Description * link to Backup Server *.
    switchport
    switchport access vlan 130
    switchport mode access
    end

All 4 ports are configured in the same way as shown below

    !
    interface GigabitEthernet1/2/27, 03/01/27, 02/02/29, 03/02/29
    Description * BackUp Server 1 *.
    switchport
    switchport access vlan 130
    switchport mode access
    spanning tree portfast edge
    passive mode of channel-group 50
    end

I have all 4 cards in a single team LACP with hash address as mode. When I plug in cards NETWORK 3 and 4, the machine works as it is on an old earthling in modem 36 600 dial and says "Media disconnected" with the "link"light, but the activity of flashing light. " If I turn off then re-enalbe the NIC led "link" is that they work until I restart. However 4 NIC always gives me

    "Blame LACP negotiation."

Any ideas on why this is happening, especially the restart and they never seem to initialize, at that time, I have 3 were team together and it seems to work properly, of course, until I restart.

This issue is beyond the scope of this site (for consumers) and to be sure, you get the best (and fastest) reply, we have to ask either on Technet (for IT Pro) or MSDN (for developers)

  • ESXi 5.5 NIC not detected

I have an ASUS M4N68T-M V2 with built in network card, while I'm installing eSXI 5.5, I get an error of not detected NETWORK card. an advise please. Thanks in advance :-)

I can't tell you if the NETWORK card works with older versions of ESXi as he is not on the list of supported network cards. You can try if.

Anyway, other users on the forum succeeded with an adapter Intel Pro/1000 GT desktop, you may be able to get at a lower cost. From what I have found, your motherboard has two PCI slots, so it could be something to consider.

  • VMDK file between windows and ESXi with VMFS on iSCSI copy

Hi all!  I searched here and that you find that no good answer but then I hope that someone can help you.

We have a group of 3 servers ESXi running off a single iSCSI target and often need to copy VM from the VMFS file system.

To help the conversion tool is incredibly slow, it's on.  WinSCP and FastSCP work at about 5 MB and 3 MB/sec.  FTP is the best option so far, but it is only 8 MB/sec.  When we have to copy around a virtual machine that takes a lot of time of 20 GB.  In addition, when we make 15 copies of a VM is incredibly long.

I hoped to be able to directly connect to the iSCSI target and mount the system files somehow, but can't seem to find a way to do it.  Defect is there any method better or faster?  Perhaps a better FTP server than the option of proftpd?

We hoped a local copy with either USB or eSATA method, but doesn't seem to work.  USB is not detected even and I can not get a non-VMFS file system to mount via eSATA.

If it works better we can set up a linux machine to mount iSCSI target if copies of file can work this way.

    Thanks for the tips!

Sorry, but your reset laptop reset Windows Update.

I recently had to do this in one of my PC and it took three days complete (!) for the Windows Update process finish.  One day find updates, one day to download and one day to apply.

To add to the frustration, during downloads, progress 'freeze' to zero percent!

So, I had it got stuck - but she didn't - and this is important!  Go to C:\Windows\Distribution.  If there are files and folders, Windows Update works, it is simply not updated status information.

You can check that from time to time, and while its download yet, he will continue to grow.  As long as there are files and folders there DO NOT shut down your PC!  This will force again when you reboot.

Sorry... but you just have to leave it on and it will run its course.
