Windows 2000 on Sat S1800-514: possible?

Hello everyone
I wonder if the decommissioning of XP to 2000 on the good old Sat S1800-514 will be possible or not. I tried once but a big problem was the display driver: couldn't find a Win 2000 working for the Trident Council. I see the label on the machine saying "Designed for Win XP" - This means that I can not downgrade? Someone knows how to fix this bit? By the way: I guess than Win 2000 as the computer laptop run faster... XP seems quite heavy to be borne by a 995 Mhz Celeron and 112 MB of RAM...
Thanks in advance for the help!

Daniele

On the Toshiba support page you will find W2000 drivers for this model of laptop. I assume that it should not have any problems at all.

Check the support under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com page > support & downloads. You will find everything you need.

is not always, but often the same files. jump results in an unnecessary installation (cannot start). It is the first time ever I am trying to format and reinstall windows on this laptop. I tried gentoo (linux) for a few days and it seems to work very well (except it's me mistakes sometimes when starting from cd)

    so far I have tried:
-Another cd (all seem to give me the same problem, they worked on all the others I've used them on front of the pc...)
-windows XP pro cd, gave me an error of not being able to load a file (looks like the installation of 2000?)
-have you memtest86 to check memory, he finds no errors, also I tried to install with just 1 of my 2-bands memory, that has not helped either. so I don't think that memory is the problem.
-do you have a chkdsk /R from the recovery console to check the hard disk for errors, no have been found...

I'm naïve, what to do/try then?

    Hello

Reset you HARD drive after using the Linux operating system? If please do it properly and then try to install Windows using the recovery CD.

If the error again please contact the Service partner. In my opinion there must be a missing file.

    Hello

I'm sorry, but as far as I know, it is not possible to download an operating system. If you have lost your recovery CD with the image of the whole plant, you will need to buy a new Toshiba or only an operating system and install the system by your own.

    Hi guys!

I think I'm a format and a new installation of windows 2000 (windows 98se running sound) may be useful. However, I don't have the original recovery disk, although I own an original copy of Windows 2000 Professional.

Would it not be possible to do a full format and install windows 2000? Or would I meet problems, for example with driver problems, later? I know computers cell phones can be a bit of a nuisance when it comes to facilities OS!

    Toshiba doesn't offer these drivers.

  • Re: IMPORTANT - how to install Windows 2000 on a Satellite L300 - 16 M (PSLB0E)?

    Hello

I am an independent developer and absolutely need to install multiple operating systems on my * Satellite L300 - 16 M (PSLB0E) *: it is very important for me because I need to check the functioning of the software under each environment for real (not not using solutions like VMware, for example).

Well, then, right now, I did a backup Acronis image of original full HDD, and then deleted the original scores of WinRE and data, reduced and moved from disk to the partition of Vista... and installed System Commander 8 to prepare my future multi - initialize. For the moment, everything sounds right: Vista works perfectly!

Also note, I have configured the SATA in the BIOS Setup in "Compatibility" mode just because I don't need AHCI in my type of use!

Second step: now, * I have to install Windows 2000 Pro (SP4) EN *. Of course, I am aware that the sticking point is the SATA/AHCI driver, which is not present in the CD of Win 2 K... So, I just make a new CD integrating these drivers using nLite; now, I tried using the driver Intel site on Intel 82801 HEM / HBM SATA AHCI controller (ICH8M) and page drivers Toshiba XP.

But it does not completely: the Win 2 K install begins... All the drivers are well charged (including the ones AHCI) and just after this stage of loading, I get a black screen with just a blink of an eye cursor at the top left of the screen... indefinitively :-(

I tried also to SATA mode "AHCI" in the BIOS and it's the same thing.

    So, what to do next?

I used the wrong AHCI drivers? Do I need to integrate as many drivers Toshiba (about chipset, display, sound) in the installation of Windows 2000 using nLite CD? I mean the capacity of the CD is not reached.

Is there a way or a tutorial to install Windows 2000 somewhere? For XP, I think it will be easier because SP3 seems to support AHCI, but earlier, my problem is to install Windows 2000: Although Microsoft wants to leave-it, there are many professionals who still use-it... And my work as a developer, is to make my software also works on this OS! * I really need to find a way to install it on this computer! *

Awaiting your response informed and all the tips or idea that could help me to complete the task.
    In a word: HELP! Oops!

    Perhaps.

As far as I know that you need the crib Intel Matrix Storage and in this package, you will find the SATA drivers.
    http://www.Intel.com/support/chipsets/IMSM/index.htm

There you have to choose to get the latest driver - version PV-> Win 2000 8.5-> there you must take the package from point 3

  • Driver HP Deskjet 3000 for windows 2000?

Hello, I tried to install my HP Deskjet 3000 printer on a Windows 2000 system and I can not find a suitable driver to make it work. Can anyone help?

    Hello

The deskjet 3000 printer is not compatible with Windows 2000, you will find listed by the operating system specified below:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02231304

I fear you can find no workaround possible as there are no drivers for the device that is compatible with Windows 2000.

  • Windows 2000 Professional and X 61, X61s

    Hello

    • Anyone know if we can install and use windows 2000 Professional on a X 61/X61s (stata questions?)? Is - this dangerous (drivers, potential property damage)?
    • Some drivers are available for windows 2000 Professional. It's loaded with windows 2000 pro recovery disks in?
    • It will improve the battery life?

    Thank you.

Hi, I had installed on my x 61 for about a year with zero problems of win2k. the reason why I went finally xp was due to new standards unavaiable on 2 k (wga, video hi-def, sdhc, etc.)

Oh, one thing that does not work: on the card reader sdhc cards. This isn't really a big problem because lack of wga could be...

for the sata issue I can think of two options: integrate or start in compatibility mode, install the drivers and drivers switch to sata.

    Good luck

  • Strengthen independent safety on a PC in Windows 2000 lock

I want to perform a safety lock on a PC Windows 2000 Professional SP4 as a stand-alone.  I can't upgrade the operating system due to the use of existing software.

The computer has multiple users that each belongs to one or two of the 4 groups.

I put a few policies via the security model and others, the computer and user (Administrator), via local policy (Group) mmc snap-in.

    My questions are:

    1. How to set policies for non-administrative users (run as?)?
    2. -I can do for the group rather than the users?
    3. Once set, is it possible to copy the settings on a fresh installation (or, more importantly, after the updates and additions to the software which must be put on a "security" system)?
    4. If so, should what files I copy?

    Thank you.

Hello world. I hope you don't mind offering support for a Windows 2000 based platform here, (I don't think Windows Update deferred much, if at all between the two operating systems)

  • Run the than SP1 2012 LabVIEW VI user on Windows 2000 machines created

The VI working on (on Windows XP) will have to be implemented on computers different 4: 3 with Windows XP SP3 and 1 with Windows 2000 SP4. This is a new program for us, so we bought LabVIEW 2012 SP1. This version of labview works on Windows XP, Vista, 7, & 8. The corresponding runtime engine runs on Windows XP, Vista, 7 &. As you can see, Windows 2000 is not listed here. I tried to build in an .exe file, but there are corresponding RTE. Is it possible for me to be able to run my VI on the Windows 2000 computer? (Of course, the upgrade of the OS would be a solution, but I would like to avoid this, if possible).

[I've been messing around with runtimes and the most recent version that could install has TENS of LabVIEW 2009 (no SP1) on the computer running Windows 2000, if that helps at all.]

    Dennis_Knutson wrote:
Build an exe for 2009 would require you to have a copy of LabVIEW 2009, end. I don't know if your 2012 license would even allow that and if you use some of the features, you will not be able to do the conversion down.

If you have a license for a version of LabVIEW, you can have every (Older) version installed as well.  You need an active SSP to upgrade well!

All the new features migrate at least 8.0 (you will get a bunch of warnings in guard and perhaps a very ugly code).

I would try to avoid support queues (or config file functions) over the limit of 8, 6-2009.  You may see some unexpected changes and prefomace hits.

So, I know it's possible. I don't know if the features that I want are possible.

This who should I research/do to make this happen?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!
