Windows 7: Ad - hoc network share option missing internet.
Windows 7 question: when I try to ad hoc implementation network to share internet I don't get no option to choose share internet or not that I get on my Vista laptop. Although I am successfully able to share the internet connection from vista to windows7. Just to add normal sharing is fine (files or folders). But may be missing or configured incorrectly on the machine of win7 I can't share my internet connection.
Is your laptop running Windows 7 Starter edition?
If so, you must upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium to a minimum in order to set up an ad hoc host or use Connectify or virtual router.

the Windows 8 (graphic layout) network card is missing, was on WIndows 7
HelloI think I already know the answer to this & it has been asked before by others with no positive response but thought I would just try again.
Is there somewhere hidden the ability to visualize the layout of type table of the network you use to make just under windows 7In Windows 7, you could see under center network & sharing of information of the network, and then click on "View network adapters" or similarand he gave an overview of your devices, routers, etc.Windows 8 happened, even basic information seems devoid, now nothing private, Public, work etc (I guess it's somehere but don't have no need, so don't go looking) but seems just poor.In any case, this feature was very helpful, especially as I often put my network to the top, change routers, equipment etc. and when you add a new router if it is not set to auto DHCP (which I always turn off because they are always an access point) you can not see what the IP of the router is usually on a range of ip addresses different and often not standard. Sounds like a rarely used feature, but I often need this, especially the factory resets etc.Why on earth would remove this feature!I'm so sick of 'new improved' software/hardware taking features which were so useful and adding things that are unnecessary. You thought you could do in a few minutes & always things could suddenly take a lot longer, that's progress for youRantBut someone has any ideas?Hello
Thanks for posting the query on Microsoft Community.
We will try to help you with this.
According to the description of the problem, we would like to tell you that the NIC function was in the "Network & Sharing Center" of Windows 7. It is no longer part of Windows 8.In Windows 8"a. open ' File Explorer '.b. left click on 'Network' (displays the devices connected to the network)c. then right click 'Network' & you will have the choice to "Map network drive" and other options.Check the link below for assistance:Hope that answers your query. On windows XP, I need to connect to two different networks. Free wifi for the internet and the other for file sharing.
Different gateways, different static address, same subnet mask. But there is problem when operating simultaneously and must
a network must be disabled. Is it possible to run simultaneously?
original title: served various networks simultaneously on windows xp
Go to where you have configured the static IP addresses for your network adapters. Leave the "default gateway" blank for your local file sharing adapter and insert a valid default gateway for your wifi Internet adapter. Of course, this will limit your adapter in a single subnet - which should be OK for use at home or small office to share local files.
This should work as long as the two physical subnets have two different subnet numbers. In general, this means that the first three digits of the IP address of the adapter can not be the same on both adapters - if they are, then you need to make one of the subnets. (i.e. one is 192.168.1.xxx and the other would be 192.168.2.xxx). This is usually accomplished in the router configuration page.

Windows Server 2008 R2 network icon shows no Internet connection
I'm having a problem with my Windows Server 2008 R2 showing without Internet access network icon when, in fact I can browse the Internet without any problems. Troubleshooting reveals nothing. It is set with a static IP address and worked before but now shows the yellow warning triangle. I don't know what caused that change but I was wondering if anyone had an answer for her. Thank you in advance.

I suggest that you download and install the latest drivers for the network adapter on the computer to the adapter manufacturer's website and check if it helps.

Please kindly help me out in the question above
Hi ShamanthKumar,
Which versions of Windows are the computers that you want network running? (Windows 7, Vista, or XP?)
You are using a router, and if so, the computers are connected via cable or wireless?
I suggest to look at the following articles that will show you how to network your computers for internet sharing: -
Windows XP sp3 can not access the network shares on vista after installing sp2
I have a xp sp3 computer and another currently running vista Home premium sp2. Previously, I was able to access the network share on the xp computer before vista computer I installed sp1. Both computers were able to ping between them without problem.
I've upgraded to sp2 because I had problems with windows media center, missing records. Upgrade of these issues fixed, but this means that roll back to sp1 is not an option for me to get operational network.
Please do not post a standard answer on the network configuration. I am familiar with the standards requirements to share files between xp and vista and everything is set up correctly. Like I said everything was working fine before the installation of sp2.
If it is a known problem that is still not resolved, I'd appreciate knowing that information as well.
Edit: Firewall been disabled during my troubleshooting
After more work, I was able to solve my problem. Update zone alarm solved my problem and helped my windows xp machine to access my Vista network shares. As I pointed out in the original post, zone alarm firewall has been disabled during my troubleshooting. Apparently, when disabled, the old version of zone alarm has always been the origin of the problem.

XP host and client windows 7 on ad - hoc network...Dear friends, I have set up an ad hoc network between two laptops. The host is running on xp sp3 and the client is running windows 7.Now the problem is that if I enable security on the network, the client windows 7 cannot recognize the network at all.If I turn off security on the network ad-hoc, everything works fine and I can share files and access the internet on client... Please help
Ok
Now, I'm pretty sure that I understand your game up. Well done to get the internet connection, sharing of work (not a simple process) but without encryption.
I am sure that the problem lies in the Windows 7 laptop (laptop 2). When you switch cell 1 to WEP, you must also pass portable 2 to WEP and provide the WEP key you have configured with laptop 1.
It's getting late here now, but I'll try to answer tomorrow after I have test it on my two laptops to Windows 7. In the meantime maybe I can point you in the right direction...
- Right-click the the small icon at the bottom right of your screen on laptop network 2 and then click on Open Network and Sharing Center
- In network and sharing Center, click on manage networks wireless (nearby at the top left)
- Click Add, and follow the wizard to create an ad hoc network, selecting WEP and providing the encryption key you configured on the notebook 1
- Save the network so that you do not have to repeat this procedure.
Otherwise, when you get to manage wireless networks, if your ad hoc network is already listed...
- Right-click in your ad hoc network, and then click Properties
- Click the Security tab
- Change it to WEP and provide the encryption key
- Click OK
Good luck, I will pick up this new after my drowsiness.

Need to have this configuration in a classroom environment.
I don't know what you mean when you ask a desktop or sharing users.
A network computer can share files and printers with other computers, but there are limits that might make it unusable for you. Windows XP and Vista allow 5 or 10 concurrent connections by other computers, depending on the version.
You need an operating system of Windows Server or Linux server to allow for more concurrent connections to shared files and printers.
I also fear that an ad - hoc network does not work well with 50 computers.

My ad hoc network is not seen by non-Windows devices?
Hello:
I'm running Windows 7 pro 64-bit.
I have an ad-hoc network, running where I take a wired connection and share it via WiFi.
The problem I have is my devices not Windows cannot see the network. Apple, Android, etc., do NOT see the SSID - only Windows boxes. How is what happens. In the network and sharing on other Windows devices Center, the icon for the ad hoc network is also a different icon than other WiFi networks in the region.
Is an ad hoc network, a network of true 802.11? Can I share with other devices other than Windows? Why my other devices cannot see the SSID (only Windows boxes can)?
Thanks for your help!
Hello Chris,
I found this another instance of a question similar to yours:It seems that the problem lies in him depends on the ability of the devices to connect to an AD - HOC network as they may differ from a standard Wi - Fi routers connection. You may need to check that your Apple devices and Android phones are able to connect to this type of connection.
