Windows 7 and Windows 8 COA

Original title: Hello

I want to know that is it possible to install a window on the laptop and use the keys to the series listed on the COA (certificate of authenticity) for save the windows... and if it is possible then can we use these keys to install windows as windows7, windows 8 etc...

Product keys for Windows 7 and Windows 8 are unique and cannot be used to activate their respective version of Windows.

If you need to install Windows 7 on a computer, you must purchase a license for this:

  • Conditions of the retail of Windows XP Professional and license and decal OEM COA / label question:

Hello everyone and especially lawyers license!

It's pretty obvious (applying common sense) that a single license is a single Installation, no matter if Windows XP, Vista or 7, or OEM or retail.

    However...

    Question 1:
Is that the only true, firmer and more correct to do statement?
""Windows XP Professional OEM license dies with your computer / caisse".

    Question 2:
I have two DELL computers. One is with Windows XP Professional OEM (Dell) and the other with Windows Vista Business OEM (Dell). I would like to swap/Exchange two licenses COA stickers (if it's physically possible) and simply change the Microsoft Windows operating system on these two computers. From what I understand at this time - and please correct me if I'm wrong - Microsoft Licensing policy said it is legally impossible. True? Fake?

    Question 3:
This question is about the "decommissioning" of Windows Vista business to Windows XP Professional. I'm OK with my understanding that there are some licenses of Windows Vista Business out there that can be legally retired, and some who cannot?
How do I determine by looking at just the Windows Vista Business OEM COA sticker, if it is a license that can legally be downgraded or not?
If it can be downgraded, can I license Windows Vista Business COST just the installation of Windows XP Professional key, when asked to enter?

Thank YOU ALL for your expertise and your help!

    Hello

Question 1: "Windows XP Professional OEM license dies with your computer / caisse"-c' is licensed OEM is NOT transferable to another machine and once your dies of PC/LAptop, then the license dies with him.

Question 2: You cannot exchange an OEM license of any computer to another. This includes exchanging the COA from one device to another, making of this ould invalidate your license, as the certificate of authenticity shall be kept with the license provided with the original machine.

Question 3: Downgrade rights allow you to get off at analogues for the same edition of vista, IE company from Vista to XP Pro, you cannot downgrade from Vista to XP Pro home.

hope that answers all your questions.

  • Can I restore the backup Windows XP on a new computer with Windows 7 COA and upgrade to Windows 7?

    Original title: upgrade question.

I currently have a PC running XP in a system with an IDE drive. The system has many applications that the company has moved the installation discs, so I need to move the contents of the entire disk to a new system. I was about to do the following:

System backup with a recovery boot disk, in this case a USB.

Restore the entire operating system to a new system that will have a SATA drive in it. The new system will have a COST for Windows 7.

Start the XP and upgrade to Windows 7.

My question is, will it work or the absence of the COA of XP on the new system will prevent me to install?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Short answer, "no, this will not work."

It is unclear what you mean by 'backup' and 'restore', but it seems that if you are referring to the creation of a disk image or a clone of disk on an external drive and then either restore the image or cloning to the new computer.  Assuming that both of these computers was provided with Windows pre-installed, this process will almost certainly result in a facility that cannot be 'activated '.  In addition, unless the software you use has something like Acronis Universal Restore, restore the image from your old computer to a player in a new computer with a different hardware simply will not work.

In addition, the lack of an XP license is not the issue.  There are several problems with the process you describe, but basically, an "upgrade" from XP to Win 7 requires a "custom installation" which means that applications should be re-installed.

  • ThinkPad E530: Windows 8 COA sticker missing

Recently, I bought Thinkpad E530 mobile computer with Windows 8 Pro installed. However, I did not receive installation disc and there was no COA sticker anywhere. I also checked under the battery. The seller says something like "it's something new with Windows 8 and sticker is no longer necessary.

I tried first to get assistance on Microsoft website, but after entering Windows 8 PID I learned that I would have to pay for it, because my copy is supported by Lenovo.

Contacting Lenovo has proved to be a challenge. I was just unable to find a way to do online. Only way seems to be by phone and:

    1. I'm not willing to pay for international calls

    2. I want, a written confirmation, so I put pressure on my seller

So, I really need to know, how to communicate with Lenovo and ask two things:

    1. How can I install media?

    2. How can I get the key of Windows 8 (for example to install the new copy) and the COST is really more provided.

    Thank you in advance.

    Correct COST is over supplied.

If you want to learn more about the PID, see http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows-8/a/windows-8-product-key.htm

I have a TechNet subscription, so I have no problems with getting ISOs for Windows 8 Pro (which I'm available for). Once you get the correct version, you should be able to install the operating system without even having to enter the product key.

  • Installation of windows? COA on the box?

I am computer Geeks.com IBM a while ago and it came with windows xp pro top. But it did not come with a cd. It has a COA sticker on the box.

I now need to re - install. I have a disc or two Windows XP Pro, but they are on other computers.

I need to know how I can install on IBM computer by using the certificate of Authenticity on the box. Should I order a disc or something?

Thank you in advance for your help!

To use the product key on the COA sticker, you will need to install with a disc of OEM (unbranded) credits XP Pro. If one of your drives fit that description (installation from a Dell computer disks are not labeled or copies of detail) you can use this disk for the installation and the product key for IBM. Otherwise, you will need to purchase a full copy of XP, which will come with its own product key. In my view, Amazon.com and NewEgg.com still sell XP. I would be very wary about buying software from places like Craigslist or eBay. After installation, be sure to install all the drivers/utilities that you will get the Lenovo Web site for this model computer. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • On a Windows Vista COA can be used by someone else on another computer?

I would like to buy a used copy of Windows Vista to put in my Gateway computer. Seller does not know if the certificate of authenticity will be allowed by Microsoft, but said there is an 800 number that will give me a new COA key. Is this true? Help! I have only 3 hours to decide to buy it. Thank you

You can move the windows on a new computer

If it's a full license or upgrade retail - Yes. You can move it to another computer as long as it is installed on one computer at a time (and if it's a version upgrade the new Windows computer must have its own license of qualification). The previous Windows installation on your old computer must be formatted or deleted. You will have to perhaps call Microsoft and explain what happened to complete activation. Turning it on the second computer will automatically be in effect 'disable' the license for the first computer.

If it's an OEM license - don't. OEM licenses, including Windows preinstalled on a computer before purchase and Windows purchased separately, are related to the first computer, they are installed on and cannot be transferred to another computer. To install Windows on another computer, you will need to buy another copy.

  • my hp laptop windows serial (COA) has fade what to do?

Hi, one of my netbooks of hard drive is dead and I tried to replace it, but unluckly windows COA sticker has wear off and I see no more serial number.

NetBook have no copy of system.

    What should do?

You will need to contact HP about getting a replacement product key, they usually do under warranty, if they cannot, you should consider purchasing a retail license unfortunately.

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

If your recovery partition is not available or damaged, you must contact the manufacturer of your computer, and request that a defined recovery disk you can use to reinstall Windows 7. They could practice a small shipping and handling.

  • How to use a Windows 7 COA from a cell phone dead?

I have an Acer Aspire laptop with Win7, and the motherboard has failed. It will cost you more to repair the computer is worth. I bought a Compaq C751 which had Vista Home Premium installed. I downloaded an iso of Win 7 Home premium, burned a disc and installed Win7 on the Compaq. The COA on the bottom of the Acer had worn to the point where it is unreadable, so I used Keyfinder to extract the certificate of authenticity of the Acer hard drive. When I try to use this COST, I get a message that it is not a valid certificate of authenticity. The Acer Win7 OS will never be used again on the Acer: he's dead. How can I use the Win7 OS on my Compaq?

Unfortunately, you can not. If Windows 7 is shipped with the Acer, it's a
OEM version of Windows 7. The biggest drawback of an OEM version
is that its license it permanently binds to the computer first there
installed on. He can never legally be moved to another computer, sold,
or given (except with the original computer). If the computer
dies or is stolen, your license dies with him.

  • Windows 7 COA pro with xp downgrade

My son has had a serious problem with his HP Pro 3010 PC MT which had previously been happily running windows 7, so he used the restore partition to get the pc running again.

Somewhere, it is finished to restore the pc, but now its running windows XP, there is no option to restore to restore to windows 7. If he chose the wrong option when he did everything first I don't know?

There is a genuine certificate of Authenticity on the HP case that says 'Windows 7 Pro OA HP' and the code, I also burned a DVD of windows 7 installation, but do not want to replace the hard drive with xp on it if the code is not going to work. I read on internet that HP codes do not work with Microsoft install disks only HP discs, is this true?

as usual on these things people were missing the point in my first post and locking of the unimportant details.  I think that you can not use floppies for installation of MS with the codes on the HP COA stickers. Fortunately, we use HP computers at work, I borrowed a few HP Windows 7 Pro installation diskettes to HE tried a couple and was able to reinstall Windows 7 Pro and get the PC pack to how it was originally. I didn't need to enter the code at any time and have had no problems with the computer over the past 4 months.

The product key will also work with the 64 bit version of Windows 7 Pro.

If the two computers are the same, the license will cover it legally, but you will need to install the product key on the COA sticker.

    Try the following:

Click Start, right click on computer

    Click on properties

Scroll down to the Windows Activation

Click on the link 'change product key '.

Enter the product key located on the COA sticker attached to the bottom of your laptop or in the battery compartment. Click next to activate via the Internet.

With Windows 8, Microsoft changed stickers that have the product key that the user must type in during the installation of the operating system of new embedded BIOS product key. The idea is that by eliminating the tile, you eliminate one of the easiest ways for nefarious users get a legitimate product key. The sticker also eliminating product key removes any concern that the vignette could get damaged while at the same time eliminating the long and irritating the process of typing in various letters and numbers in the installation of the operating system.

If the user has to reinstall the operating system on a computer with Windows 8, the installation process automatically captures key software product of the motherboard BIOS without input from the user. This means that these stickers familiar windows product key will no longer appear on Windows 8 computers.
