ThinkPad E530: Windows 8 COA sticker missing

Recently, I bought Thinkpad E530 mobile computer with Windows 8 Pro installed. However, I did not receive installation disc and there was no COA sticker anywhere. I also checked under the battery. The seller says something like "it's something new with Windows 8 and sticker is no longer necessary.

I tried first to get assistance on Microsoft website, but after entering Windows 8 PID I learned that I would have to pay for it, because my copy is supported by Lenovo.

Contacting Lenovo has proved to be a challenge. I was just unable to find a way to do online. Only way seems to be by phone and:

1. I'm not willing to pay for international calls

2. I want, a written confirmation, so I put pressure on my seller

So, I really need to know, how to communicate with Lenovo and ask two things:

1. How can I install media?

2. How can I get the key of Windows 8 (for example to install the new copy) and the COST is really more provided.

Thank you in advance.

Correct COST is over supplied.

If you want to learn more about the PID, see http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows-8/a/windows-8-product-key.htm

I have a TechNet subscription, so I have no problems with getting ISOs for Windows 8 Pro (which I'm available for). Once you get the correct version, you should be able to install the operating system without even having to enter the product key.

My son had my old Dell inspiron 600 m away from the College, and I decided to completely wipe and reinstall XP Home before donation locally. Unfortunately the COA sticker on the base used in part, and I can't read 25 characters 3. No problem, I thought, because I know there is software that extract the product key from the registry. So I did this... and got a product key that's nothing but one on the sticker! We have never reinstalled Windows before product key has certainly never been changed since we bought the laptop in 2006, so for the life of me I don't understand why there should be a different product than the sticker under the watch key.

Well, I didn't have much choice at this time, so I used the product key from the registry during the reinstallation, and it has been accepted and worked well. However when I try to reactivate windows, MS site says that the key I used is "not allowed." I tried to go through the routine of phone to talk to someone and explain my situation, but the Nice robot just told me to go buy a "true copy" of windows. Well, we already have one of those, and I just want to turn it on. Of course, I'd appreciate any suggestions on my next steps. TIA!

Unfortunately, without the sticker from the bottom of your computer, you may be out of luck.

The difference in key OEM (like Dell) how can install using a unique key because of the huge number of machines they sell.  The sticker is there for you to use in a situation like yours.

How can I know for my part I have an official copy of Windows 8 (not good sticker idea)?

With Windows 8, Microsoft changed stickers that have the product key that the user must type in during the installation of the operating system of new embedded BIOS product key. The idea is that by eliminating the tile, you eliminate one of the easiest ways for nefarious users get a legitimate product key. The sticker also eliminating product key removes any concern that the vignette could get damaged while at the same time eliminating the long and irritating the process of typing in various letters and numbers in the installation of the operating system.

If the user has to reinstall the operating system on a computer with Windows 8, the installation process automatically captures key software product of the motherboard BIOS without input from the user. This means that these stickers familiar windows product key will no longer appear on Windows 8 computers.

If you need to reinstall Windows 8:

    How to reinstall Windows 8

    You have two options:

  • Fingerprint reader does not react anymore while the software seems to work (Thinkpad E530 Windows 10)

I used logg in via the reader of fingerprints (windows 10) with no problems, now the fingerprint reader does not react anymore when I pull the finger. I managed to remove all the passwords in the password manager (still not sure about it as I don't really understand how all the components work together) hoping that would solve the problem. Not the fingerprint reader software keeps asking me to register a new finger. Everything seems to work fine (I can pick a finger to be registered, type my password windowns) until I asked me to draw the finger on the fingerprint reader: nothing happens! The indicator that shows how the finger was scanned shows nothing at all. Looks like the software works, but the fingerprint reader itself is dead. However, looking into the information system the "TouchStrip Fingerprint Sensor' (WBF mode advanced) seems to work fine.

Help, please. I don't have any idea how to find out what's not here.

Thank you very much for the tip! He works in fact :-). Even if it does not seem logical to me, as I never put it in place a front pin - and fingerprint reader work very well even without PIN code. But who cares - the main thing is it works now! So thanks a lot again :-)!

  • Windows 8 COA sticker for Pavilion 23-b010 AIO

Where can I find the sticker COST Microsoft to this AIO PC?  It is not glued to the computer anywhere. Thank you

    Hello

This program (RWEverything) locates the Win 8 OEM key embedded in the BIOS.

First, download the appropriate version of its download page. If you have a 64-bit operating system use RwX64V.1.6.5.9. There is also a portable version available that allows you to run and forget about it.

Extract the program in the compressed file, and then double-click the RW.exe executable file to start the program.

Then, click on ACPI superior and toolbar icon MSDM table in ACPI table. And you will find your key BIOS embedded directly in the data row.

Be extremely careful. This program can replace the BIOS data and ruin your PC.

If you are not comfortable with this suggestion, you can try Microsoft but I think they will bounce back you to HP.

You may need to bite the bullet and run a factory restore.

  • Windows COA sticker worn, how can I get Win7 key #?

I have a G60-535DX laptop, hard drive has been replaced and has no recovery Partition. Is there a way to get Windows 7 key # if I have a serial number of the product? The COA sticker is worn, it can not see all the characters. It came with Windows 7 Home Premium.

If you can boot into Windows, the easiest way to retrieve the key is to use a utility calledMagic Jellybean .

If you cannot start Windows, or who have already replaced or reformat your hard drive, then you have four choices.

    (1) use the recovery disk series or usb recovery media that you should have created and put in a safe place.

    (2) buy a HP or an HP partner recovery disk

    (3) purchase of a new facility under license of Windows 7 DVD

    (4) install an operating system open source as a version of Linux

If you are using a serial or usb disk recovery recovery media, you use the activation of license key. The Windows certificate of authenticity is just there to provide proof of legal license and in case an owner has decided to install a non HP Microsoft Windows version.

    Hello

If you purchased a machine shipped with Windows 8, there is no COA label as the product activation key is integrated in the chip of the bios - see the article on the following link.

    http://reviews.CNET.com/8301-33642_7-57554240-292/Windows-8-moves-to-BIOS-based-product-keys/

You can still read her entry in the registry key, using an application such as the example below.

  • Key to Windows product activation on the COA sticker is wiped out

The product key on the COA sticker is annihilated. My laptop is in the form of post formatted with the trial version enabled...

How can I get the key...? Windows 7 Home Premium...

    Original title: activate Windows

Using your recovery win disks you do according to your instructions from PC manufacturers, when you got the PC, or even dial that PC manufacturers support to request the recovery discs, for which there will be a small fee

(Using disk recovery does not require any key to be entered)

  • Misspelling of Microsoft Windows COA sticker - real?

Misspelling of Microsoft Windows COA sticker - real?

I bought a Lenovo ThinkCentre second hand on eBay UK (I live in the United Kingdom) a year ago, and I barely noticed a typo in on the Microsoft COA, stuck on the side of the computer. This machine came with Windows Vista Business installed, but I think a typo in 'WIndows' is a very rare case. I have not yet tested the product key.

Check out the link to the image below, tell me what you think.
Note: I edited the product key in Fireworks CS5.
    Thank you
    -Toby

Right, I just activated Vista Business 64-bit with the key on the certificate of authenticity. It seemed to work very well, and there is no problem.

Seems he could have simply a typo, but I would not have expected it from Microsoft.
  • Missing on the new PC of PowerSpec COA sticker

Just bought two B328 Powerspec PCs and neither one has a COA sticker.  Their tech support says no more COA stickers, the recovery disc focuses on the BIOS for Setup key.  Is this correct?  I see this as being a nightmare if there is a problem that requires hardware replacement or reinstallation of the operating system. These computers are preinstalled with Windows 7 Pro and come with floppies installation for Win 7 Pro and Win 8 Pro.

Ok. they use a key of windows 7 OEM SLP with a bios compatible windows 7.

You should be able to reinstall with the provided windows recovery discs 7 OEM under normal circumstances. The dilemma is, if for some reason any computer fails to communicate properly with the slic table that the solution is to change the product key to the one on the certificate of authenticity.
Just to be clear, this isn't a bios compatible windows 8 and does not have the embedded product key. The product key is integrated into the OEM recovery media. (In windows 8 OEM, the product key is embedded in the bios.) support of information gave you is only correct for preinstalled windows 8. They seem to be misinformed.
I believe that this is the case:
Note: All manufacturers that use the SLP OEM system are bound by contract to include a certificate of Authenticity sticker (COA), which has a COA SLP key on the computer

They owe you two AOC by two of unique product keys.
as for discs of windows 8, I can only assume that they are media upgrade for which you would have to buy a license. (Note that both computers qualify for upgrade $ 14.99 price if you buy it in the time of delivery).
  • \Windows\system32\config\system MISSING file of repair

I have a T400 who HAD an XP Pro operating system... Google chrome has frozen the system and I did a hard reboot and the computer had lost the configuration of the registry file. Microsoft recommends that the oem disc should be used, instead of a commercial version of the operating system. It's my DISLIKE for the purchase of a laptop computer with the OEM software, without a backup disk. If there is a problem, the manufacturer generally is going to drag you dry. I thought that this stratagem of Toshiba, but not of Lenovo. Hell, you can't even ask 'em to a disk if you are out of warranty. Stone wall. Why is it not possible to ask even an OEM Lenovo restore disk? Unless you have the security privileges, there is no way to even ask a repair disc: repair file \windows\system32\config\system MISSING this thread has addressed the topic of config file missing and from the looks of it nothing of this worked when even though the guy has abandoned and performed a clean installation and lost three days : http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T61-and-prior-T-series-ThinkPad/How-to-repair-corrupt-windows-system32-c... I just want to get some tips on how to record what I have and do not go the trouble to reinstall my entire library of software and then having to reinvent my lost files. Ridiculous. • Installation of windows? COA on the box?

I am computer Geeks.com IBM a while ago and it came with windows xp pro top. But it did not come with a cd. It has a COA sticker on the box.

I now need to re - install. I have a disc or two Windows XP Pro, but they are on other computers.

I need to know how I can install on IBM computer by using the certificate of Authenticity on the box. Should I order a disc or something?

Thank you in advance for your help!

To use the product key on the COA sticker, you will need to install with a disc of OEM (unbranded) credits XP Pro. If one of your drives fit that description (installation from a Dell computer disks are not labeled or copies of detail) you can use this disk for the installation and the product key for IBM. Otherwise, you will need to purchase a full copy of XP, which will come with its own product key. In my view, Amazon.com and NewEgg.com still sell XP. I would be very wary about buying software from places like Craigslist or eBay. After installation, be sure to install all the drivers/utilities that you will get the Lenovo Web site for this model computer. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

Ouch! Please do not yell at us. We can hear you if you type normally,
    in different cases.

See other responses, you got, but note also that you have that
sticker only if you purchased your computer with Windows pre-installed.
You don't have if you bought Windows yourself and installed.

  • Where can you find your windows when the sticker product key has been through?

I reinstalled Windows Vista after a hard disk failure by using the recovery disk Toshiba OEM to restore on a new hard drive, Windows application product key now, but the label under the laptop is worn out - what should I do?

The manufacturer recovery media should not require the entry of a key.

To analyze and solve problems for Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool
(download and save to the desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
    Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the button continue, which will produce the report.
To copy the report in your response, click the button copy in the tool (ignore the error at this stage), and then paste (using r-click and paste or Ctrl + V) in your response.

Please also state the Version and edition of Windows cited on your COA sticker (if you a) in the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but does NOT quote the key on the sticker!

  • Windows activation problem - sticker product faded on bottom of laptop key

Hello. I installed Windows Service Pack 2 on my HP laptop, and now it requires Activation. My activation key is a sticker on the bottom of my laptop which has now disappeared, and I am unable to see what the numbers are. How can I turn it back on. Microsoft does not provide support, nor thanks HP.

Have you tried to phone activation? Type Start, "slui.exe 3 ' and follow the instructions. Do not meet the guests phone until you are asked if you want to speak to an agent.  Explain your situation to the officer.

Microsoft does not support OEM of Windows copies without recharging.  The OEM is responsible for this.

Manufacturers do not keep a record of the product keys assigned to individual computers.  The COA stickers are placed in batches at the time of manufacture.

Try to use a magnifying glass and a bright light to read the product key from COA.  If you cannot activate this way then you will need to use the HP recovery software to restore Windows back to its factory condition.  You can have a recovery for this partition.  If so, please visit the HP website for instructions for its use.  Recovery will eliminate your programs and files, back up your data.

Recovery software will reinstall the product embedded factory key and auto activate.  The embedded key isn't her even than on the COA sticker and can not be used to activate manually.

If you do not have a recovery partition, and you have not already ordered a set of recovery discs, you can order from HP.  See the HP site for ordering instructions.  If they are no longer available at HP, you can buy them from a third party as Recovery - Disks.com.

Have you tried to use system restore to get back to a date before the installation of SP2?
