  • The computer hangs at "Shutting Down... "only after the installation of the updates for Vista Ultimate x 64 Windows

Hello.  Recently, I have reinstalled the 64 bit version of Windows Vista Ultimate on my computer.  I allow all automatic updates (worth about 450MO) and let it do its thing.  Afterwards, I had to reboot my computer.  He was going smooth until he hit the "Configuring updates... "or something like that.  The circle stopped going around smooth and pauses every second or two.  After about 30 minutes, he went to "Shutting down...". "and I let this go all night.  After 4 p.m., he was still at "Shutting down...". "therefore I kept the button and made a closed hard.  After that I started it up, it would get to the loading screen with the green bars that go everywhere.  It also was not smooth and stopping every second or two.

After about 10 minutes of this, I restarted my computer again, and it still wouldn't work.  I tried to start in safe mode, but it would also stop during the loading of some drivers and not continue.  So I reinstalled Vista again and, of course, was able to get without updates.  I thought it may have been a one time thing, so I did the windows updates again.  This problem repeated itself.  So I reinstalled Vista and am refraining from doing the updates of windows.

I restarted my computer without updates, and it goes well.  It is only after updates where it fails to turn it off and save.  No one knows what is the problem and if there is a solution to this?

Are you Vista to get Service Pack 1 automatically as well?
If so, please try to download/install it yourself and see if that has any effect.

  • Windows 7 will not shut down or restart my computer. I tried all of the suggestions I've seen previously displayed.

My computer shuts down fine with Vista (64-bit), but not with Windows 7 (Home Ultimate, 64-bit).  It disconnects me and shows the "Stop" screen, access the drive hard as if he does something, but never closes my computer (or monitor) off the coast.  It's the same thing when I'm saying Windows restart my computer.  I always hold the power button to turn off.  Occasionally, the next time I start up, I get a message saying that the computer has been shut down unexpectly, but usually not.  Although I don't think that this issue is damaging physically my computer, it is still an annoying problem.

    So far I have tried:

-Modification of the settings in my BIOS ACPI.  I don't have the ability to toggle ACPI, only to change between 1 & 3.  I tried them both.

-Method of "Clean boot" Troubleshooting Microsoft.  Even with all non-essential services and startup items disabled, I always have this problem.

-Disable Windows Fax.  Only one had this problem, and so I thought I would give it a shot.  Not good.

-Another forum suggested turning off the M-Audio card.  Tasted it.

-Yet another forum suggested changing "power settings" in the device to the IEEE Bus controller Manager 1394, allowing the computer stop the computer, or something in this sense.  I see no option anywhere to change the power settings.

Suggestions of new, I can add to the list?

After reading a lot on the forums and tried almost everything, patches, disabeling energy efficient features on IEEE 1394 and usb. He hit me, everything indicates that the acpi on the motherboard and the table mps. Changing from 1.4 to 1.1 in the bios MPS table solves the problem and win 7 shutsdown correctly

  • Windows 7 will not shut down or restart

Hi guys, basically for the 3 days since my computer won't shut down or restart. I normally turn off every night and I've never had this problem before. I used the tool to update window update, but it says that it cannot complete the installation until I restart, but obviously I can't do that either.

I tried to change the power does-that is to say buttons when the laptop closed = stop down. But even that won't work.

Anyone has any ideas that could help me solve this problem?

    Thank you.

Not sure, but what about the command 'shutdown '? (perhaps with the /r (reboot) option)

  • Windows 10 sleep and shut down problem bootcamp

Hi can you please help me

I am running windows 10 pro 64-bit os, generation 10586.71 on my I mac end 2012 27 inches

When I stopped my connected USB device which has a led indicator remains steady. I think it means that it is not turned off properly. To stop it completely, I have to hold the power button after.

Also when I put my mac to sleep, when I move the mouse or press any key on the keyboard, the screen comes on. Do I have to do is press the power button. Also when I do this, I hear the fans turn on, but I'm not sure if this is normal or not.

However, when I click on restart, which normally occurs

    There is also another concern

When I turn on my mac, when it is activated at startup of windows by default, until I see the windows logo, I see a black screen and at the top left a flashing dashboard white, similar to when your terminal on windows. It then goes on the windows logo.

After that, he goes on the screen to login as usual, but even here, I have to wait for my mouse to connect, if I have no idea if this is a common problem

so once I have connected until I see the Office for a PIN second I see an orange please wait screen, I don't think color matters as it used to be blue when my windows theme was blue until I customized it to orange

even when I see the windows logo after the black screen with the dashboard, here the scroll wheel has lagged.

and when I turn on my computer it sometimes takes quite a long time to go in the logon menu. and a few days ago I received an error message saying that I had to restart.

I had windows 10 on boot camp on Monday, January 18, 2016, so about two weeks ago.

    I have

    a processor i5 - 3470 s 2.90 ghz

    graphics nvidia gtx 660 m

    24 GB of RAM

    Help, please

    Thank you

Please see still in power after his stop USB ports .

    Hey neurodent

Check your system files and possibly do a repair installation if the serious errors of the system cannot be fixed

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally madeprograms,Accessories, right-click guest, and then clickrun as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or clickallow.
    2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

I was directed to this sup forum via a suggestion in the thread below:

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/windows_8-windows_update/shut-down-defaulting-to-switch-user/f60c9bed-0dfb-43D9-b2dc-e1fc56184e58

To summarize, I got 64-bit Windows 8 and it took about a year for me to understand this.  When Windows Update scored the system to require a reboot to apply updates.  The default option of "Shut Down" in the "Shutdown Windows" dialog box. (Accessible by typing 'Alt F4' from the desktop) going to "change user".  Windows will continue to "Change user" until you choose either "restart and apply Updates" by default manually or when Windows Update moves to force the restart itself in a few days.  There is no logical reason I can think of for this change to 'change user '.  I think he's probably supposed to be change to "Restart and apply Updates", but I think there is a bug in the game.  Please let me know if this is the right sup forum for what will be displayed in the.

  • Windows XP SP3: Hang all night @ "Windows is shutting down"... "Start button / stop is my only option?

I don't know where else to ask this... been going from one site to the other, books, etc., for hours looking for titles of threads that fit, but always leave out this something... medium or average power down.  do not use the power button, except if no other option out there.

When I left my pc last night, everything seemed fine.  I decided to leave it on and not yet started to disconnect, etc..  Not sure if there was anything during the night (update?) which requires a reboot, but, when I'm happened to pc this morning it was hanging at the "Windows is shutting down" screen... "Windows and continued so for a few hours I tried to understand.

This happened to me for the first time last week.  I don't have another source to the internet at the time, so I have 'given' and ended up using the power button.  I rebooted and immediately stopped to see if it would happen again, but everything was fine.  (Knew I should have troubleshooted!) The pc seemed so far.

I read a number of suggestions to solve problems in other posts, but they all begin with the assumption that the pc is in a State of "exploitable".

Step # 1 is need now is my only option to turn off, forcing a stop down with the power button?

I'm going batty at this stage.  Any guidance appreciated.

    It might be.

I know that superantispyware does not remove itself completely as you use their uninstaller or add/remove.

Obviously, it's one of their drivers still installed, you must remove this item and then check if you still have a problem.

    Post back with the results.

There are several posts on this problem, perhaps one of them will help you if removal of the driver does not.

  • When I try to shut down my computer with Firefox running it hangs and stops the shutdown process.

When I try to shut down my computer with Firefox running, it does not close properly during the closing. Instead, it crashes (as described in this article) and will continue to do so until I have stop the shutdown process and close it manually, where it will still not respond. There is the substantive issue. Here is the list of the relevant data to identify more precisely:

On the list of programs is still active during the closure, the window of Firefox starts only appearing once as it should be, but a few seconds after starting to hang, it begins to appear a second time on the bottom of the list, with the specific name of the page is a duplicate of whatever it is on the original.

This problem does not occur in safe mode, but it is not caused by one of my addons either, as I figured out after disabling all my addons with tools > Modules rather than the safe mode and still the problem.

He is listed as that passes several times a week, but that is simply because that's how many times I forgot to close Firefox before pressing 'closed' and leaves the room without bothering to check it works. It happens whenever I try to turn off the computer with Firefox is running well.

See this article--> occurs not in Safe Mode

Check and say whether his work after turning off hardware acceleration.

It is very difficult to say EAL is causing your problem since there are so many causes to consider. However, you may find it useful to read the following article. Just enter "Shutdown problems" in the search box.
