Windows 7 Home Premium Windows Update problems...

Hi all. I want to start by saying that I am on this problem for 3 days. Also I am frustrated no end.

A customer brought me a C56 Compaq laptop with windows 7 Home premium x 64. After Reinstalling windows from the factory partition that I can go as far as the SP1 update, then the next update is the Windows Agent 7.6.7600.320 and then it just shows check updates forever. (I even tried to leave overnight to check updates.) After having tried this about 3 times, I decided to shoot my own windows Home Premium SP1 x 64 ISO I got from the river digital microsoft last year. Installation works like a charm, activation works like a charm, but once I get to update agent 7.6.7600.320 Windows installs and the same thing happens, it controls and checks the updates with no result. IM at my whits end with this problem which is causing windows does not find its updates.

I tried a bit of soultions posted here as the tool of Readyniess and another Fixit tool that was released. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to figure this problem out there Somone can help me out, I hope.

Thank you for taking the time to read this Jeff O.

I had similar, if not the same types of problems recently too.  There was a problem with Windows Update works does not correctly my problem started after I upgraded from Win7 to Win10 and could not get off at 7.

Someone else had to help me fix.  Don't remember the exact steps he took, but it seemed like it has downloaded a copy of Windows 7 from somewhere on the Web (took 8 hours!), then "validated" my copy of Windows 7 by using the key from the sticker on the bottom of my laptop.  The box 'automatically validate' is unchecked.  It can be activated by phone; I do not know.  I hope this helps.

I guess my question is what I have to do a restore of the system under windows 7, before I can upgrade to windows 10? Or y at - it another way?

    Hello glockrow ;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post about windows update problems and wanted to help.

I would that be able to say that updating to Win10 was an exact science where we know exactly how he does it, and what it should - but the flooding of this and other instances of Win10 problem after that problem indicates that, at best, we are all guessing.

So, I think, from what I've read and done on my PC, is that you SHOULD be able to avoid the problem of missing updates by updating using Win10 created using this MS link media: 10 Windows Installer using the media - Windows help authoring tool

After you create the DVD or USB, NOT boot from it. Instead, insert it into your PC and, if it does not auto-start, right click on the file setup.exe and run it.

HOWEVER - and this is important - PC Win7 have a rate low success updated Win10 without problem - primariluy lack of OEM Win10 drivers.  Typical problems include display artifacts (to cause to be obliged to use the driver for the card of Microsoft Basic), not wireless and touchpad problems.  The drivers Microsoft provides have only the most basic features, with none of the extras that the HP drivers bring to the stage.

It is further complicated by the function Win10 GoBack, whereby you can return to your original operating system, being known to be unreliable. So when your upgrade machine malfunctioning, only then you discover that you cannot return the machine to work, that you had originally!

You can protect yourself against ending up with a damaged machine - seriously considering using a free third-party product that works for airport Imaging/restoration - Macrium Reflect.

Macrium reflect (MR) provides a FREE version that can be used to image and restore partitions or drives together.

What I recommend is the following:
    (1) download and install Macrium reflect (MR)
    (2) run M. and choose the option: "Create an image of the partition (s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB key
    (3) use the option to create a CD or a USB startup key

NOW, you have the means to restore a full system that works for the external hard drive or USB key in a few minutes.

So now you can recharge before with the upgrade, knowing that whatever happens, you will be able to return to your currently works in a few minutes.

    Good luck

I'm a volunteer and I do not work for, or represent, HP.

  • Windows 7 Home Premium software updates will not download?

I run Windows 7 Home Premium on my Toshiba laptop. When you try to download the current software updates. I click on the button to start the download. The green color bar graph begins to move from left to right, showing that its in the download process, BUT the percentage meter does not turn. After 10 minutes to 15 minutes, he is still on 0%. It looks like his tent, but nothing happens. In the past its slow summer during download of new updates, but it worked. Had to stop the download.

    Anyone has a solution.

  • Windows 7 Home premium install updates

After Windows 10 killed all my USB ports I reinstalled my Windows 7 Home premium on a new motherboard (ASUS Z97 - PRO) and a new Solid State Drive (500 GB).

The majority of the installation went well. Some updates important loading and installed fine.

When I turned off the computer, I get the 1 189 update installation. They all load OK and the PC stops.

When I turn on the rear I get 0% complete installation updates. He never went from 0% complete.

After a long time, he goes to the "Configuring updates failed. Changes in return ".

The load/install/return time take a long time and there is no way to stop them.

I recently tried to run Windows Update only for it to face an unknown error only by giving the error code 80246008. This also seems to affect windows defender which would not be up-to-date and Games for Windows Live that would not download (error code: 80080005).

After a lot of Googling the error code apprently (BITS) Background Intelligent Transfer Service does not work properly. When I try to manually start service (all under administrator privileges), he stops and begins to give this message:

"The service Service on Local computer Background Intelligent Transfer began and stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs. »

Then I downloaded the repair tool BITS (Windows6 0-KB940520 - x 86 - ENU) and ran to try to repair but it states:
"Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) repair is unnecessary at present."

I then tried to run Microsoft Fix It, in normal and aggressive mode, and it gets stuck and gives this error message:
