Windows 7 installed, latest Firefox installed, but my new tab + disappeared?
After I installed Windows 7 and update to the latest Firefox, it seems as if the new tab + disappeared from the tab bar? Can I get it back? How?
Thank you
Peter
You can find the button new tab showing as a '+' on the tab bar.
You can open the window customize and drag the button new tab that indicates that a sign plus bar tabs on another toolbar and it will become a regular tools like the new button bar button tab you have in versions of Firefox 3.
If you can not find the new tab button, then click on the 'Restore Default Set' button in the window to customize.
If you would like the button tab at the right end of the tab bar then put a hose to the left of it.

I have my browser set to restore the previous session, when I open Firefox and new tabs to open the vacuum. With these settings, I used to be able to open new windows and carry the load of my home page, while keeping intact previously mentioned behaviour, but when I open a new window now, I get a blank page.
Is it possible to restore the previous behavior, or are all the tabs that are now seen as the same now, if they are open within the framework of new or existing windows?
You must change the string "browser.newtab.url" by clicking twice and then write "subject: empty"... now the newtab will open with a blank page...» To change the home page will appear in a new window, see how to How to set the home page How to set the home page ~ J99

I'm putting in place the private browsing. I am told at the top of the Firefox window, "click on the Firefox menu" but I can't find the word 'firefox at the top of my window.
Oh, sorry. If you want to start a private browsing session, there is only a selection from the menu. Just go in the Options If you still want to use the private browsing mode.
the orange button Firefox > start private browsing

It's getting really boring I've barely recovered since the different and boring bugs in V26. I have disabled the automatic update as I'm hacked off the coast on ff not start correctly and crashing can quit smoking after every single update.
Such a bug which appeared around V26 was that a website (http://www.thecourier.co.uk/) blocking firefox. Just this site and just on my Mac and only on firefox. I can't reproduce the error on WinXP, Ubuntu or the computer of someone I know with the same version. the site blocks firefox without active plugins or addons, and this is what made me install NoScript first - that is, to block a JQuery? a script that was the cause of the crash.
V27 bugs:
Update Firefox 27 is to lose my tabs in the history after a restart, he remembers the favicons but displays 'new tab' in each and shows a blank page if clicked, thus freeing the favicon and history etc. There is nothing in the windows recently closed, etc..also, when of each restart my skin (Cotton Candy Swirl) is not displayed correctly: the title bar appears in gray Apple Mac and the lower bar shows pink massif.
When Firefox I: > > quitting smoking, it crashes (as can be shown in the details of the Mac error report). This forces me to open the Task Manager and the strength to quit smoking.
lose my history tabs after a reboot.
> What are the preferences of the history in your options menu?
'new tab' in each and shows blank page if clicked, thus freeing the favicon and history etc. There is nothing in recently closed windows etc.
-> by default, the tabs do not load until they are clicked on, this can be changed in the menu options on the tab.
-> in the recently closed window menu there are the features that should be lit to make it work:
Go to about: config and check these settings
type: sessionstore and right-click-> reset everything is bold, especially the browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo and the browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo.If it repeats, try Safe Mode to ensure that it is not a plug-in that affect this and issues to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode
For the swirl of cotton candy, please disable this or reinstall to ensure that it is up-to-date.

my email opens in a new window when I want my mail to open in a new tab in the toolbar when I press the button send. Please can you help?
Oh, Yes, the email link button. Who is supposed to send your mail site instructions to compose a new message with a link to the current page.
This button should call your bet here:
"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > tabs > "open new windows in a new tab instead.
If this is checked , then you should get a new tab. If it unchecked , then you should get a new window. At least, that is how it is supposed to work.

When I star Firefox, it opens the homepage of tha and a new tab, but it goes the new tab instead of the home page selected in options.
Thank you guys. That's exactly what it was: an unwanted extension that somehow got surreptitiously installed. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.

After updating to the latest version of Firefox, when it opens I get two tabs, and one that appears on my screen is new tab with my homepage on the other, which requires that I click on it to go. Also, when I click on a link, the same thing happens, a new tab page comes up, with what I clicked on as another tab I have to click to get to. It's actually quite boring and inconvenient. How to get back to the way it was, so that when I run Firefox it opens on my homepage, and when a new page opens, I see the content of the link I clicked on? This new and improved IMO is really new and worse.
A further extension could have snuck in. These can be bundled with other software you may have installed recently.
Try turning off all non-essential or unrecognized extensions on page modules. Either:
- CTRL + SHIFT + a
- Firefox orange (or the Tools menu) button > Add ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, when in doubt, turn off. (Or so completely junk, delete).
Typically, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.
That get rid of the extra tab?
Note: I also suggest to visit the Control Panel, uninstall a program and by clicking on the column heading "installed on". This should bring the most recent additions at the top and group by install date so that you can examine the software may have unexpected how have been installed.

I am running Firefox 7.0.1 on Windows 7.
A blank page is the default value for a new tab. You can middle - click the Home button to open a new tab to your home page, or you can install this extension and set it for your homepage.

In the Blackboard, I need not to open a new tab in Firefox. Before the last update, it was fine, but now when I click on a new choice (that is, the notebook) it always opens a new tab. The administrator of my Bb says it's a browser problem. I can right click to open a new tab, but there is no choice not to open a new tab.
You can check some prefs on the topic: config page:
- 1: active tab; 2: new window; 3: new tab;
For links opened via JavaScript, you can watch this pref:
You can open the topic: config page via the address bar.
You can accept the warning and click on "I'll be careful" to continue.Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.
- Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
- Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe

When firefox opens as a new tab opens with a video download program how can I stop this
When I opened ffox what it also opens a new tab on if I want to download a video software... How can I remove this.
Thank you
captjackSorry, I read too fast. This happens any time you access your home page? For example, using either:
- CTRL + n (start a new window)
- Click on the Home icon in the toolbar
If Yes:
You can have a second put tab in place in your homepage layout. Please see these articles:
If this setting is clean, please review your extensions as stated in my previous answer.
If not:
Sometimes problems occur only at startup.
- If the tab is linked to an update of the extension: you should see this tab once and not every time that you start, but Firefox may be not recording the 'you have seen' setting correctly. Please see this article on the failure of save the settings: How to fix preferences that will not save.
- If the tab is not related to an update of the extension, please review your extensions as stated in my previous answer. Keep in mind that Firefox is not delivered with all extensions, they are all optional.

Firefox recently started opening new tabs when I click on search results how do I get this to stop
When I use Google and I click on a search result, it opens a new tab, where it used to just take me to a new page in the tab I was using, I searched on the tabs tab in options and saw I could choose to open in a new window, but I don't see an option to open it in the current tab. It started to arrive from nowhere.
Found a setting in Google that said to open all the result in a new window that I guessed that Firefox has been the substitution and open it in a new tab as suggested settings unchecked the box in Google and now the behaviour is back to normal.
